Amoonguss

I doubt anything that can take a STAB, Specs, Draco Meteor from Latios to the face, spore it, and then switch out gaining a free 33% of its HP, will become NU. It might not be the best but the qualities it has sure are impressive.

That situation is irrelevant as Latios sets carry psychic to counter Rohpushin

I decided to stop theorymoning and actually test this guy out after school he isn't bad I take back what I said but is he going to replace Venusuar and Celebi on a spot for my team highly unlikely but he could be the hypothetical alternative to support Venusuar when the official UU tier list arrives.

Been using this thing in PO's new UU tier. All I can say is BEAST.

Clear Smog is one of my favourite moves - it can't be taunted and wrecks loads of stuff that tries to set up on me. Does it's side affect work through sub as well?

Spore is the best move in the game. So useful, and makes this thing epic for teams that struggle with the Lati's. And Regeneration is such an epic ability.

Surprisingly bulky, and I'm really impressed.

yeah, Clear Smog works through Subs.

Now if only this guy got something like Calm Mind or Curse, hell, anything better than Defense Curl. He'd be ridiculous.

If he got Stockpile he'd be damn near godly. I've been partnering him with Gastrodon, to great effect. Stockpile Gastro destroys, and if this guy could Stockpile as well, they'd be near unstoppable.

Steel types are the bane of his existence. He does get spore, though, so it's not like they can just switch in without being crippled.

Amoongus is actually a pretty cool name. If you consider its design, it doesn't seem THAT bad by comparison. But how the hell do you pronounce it? A-moong-oos? A-mung-us?

I definitely do like this pokemon a lot. He really has the bulk to pull some good things out of his usage.

What is the consensus of the usage of this in OU? Any one really try to test this out yet?

In triple battles, this guy is rage worthy when used on a trick room team, because he WILL NOT allow you to stop the pokemon from setting up trick room no matter what you do. Mischievous Heart? Fake out? They do nothing.

In singles, I've yet to really use him.

I used this in singles back in December on a regeneration based gimmick team.
He was a good member of the team saving my ass quite a few times.
If you utilize regeneration fully and capitalize on those resistances and defenses he's a great pivot. Come in take 24% off something like a thunderbolt, switch out and its all good

Precisely. He was a sleeping machine for me. Send him out, take a hit, and then SOMETHING on the opponent's team is going to go to bed. They can switch and go to sleep, or stay in and fall asleep. Their choice. And then recall the lil dude and the damage he took is gone. Unstoppable. :D Only with the DW ability though. :(

He isn't a bad Pokemon per se, it's just that Breloom does way better as a Spore user because of Poison Heal replenishing health twice as fast as Substitutes and not to mention the monstrous power behind a Focus Punch. I can see him being used a lot in the lower tiers though, should it be created.

Really, other than Regeneration and Spore I think he's really meh. Heck, Tangrowth gets Regeneration and Sleep Powder, and resists Ground to boot.

Really niche, that's all I can call him.

Also, the new name is trash once taken out of context. I was scrolling down UT and Raikou, Victreebel, Ononokusu and BAMF Amoonguss WTF?

GUYS! Its not a bad Breloom and its not some sucky Tangrowth.

First off, it absorbs Toxic Spikes. Can Tangy and Breloom do that? Nope. Sure you could use Nidoking to absorb em, but he's a completely different poke.

It also absorbs Leech Seed. This thing destroys Nattorei! How you ask? Well unlike Breloom, it has respectable special attack and can make use of Hidden Power. HP Fire all the way.

It has more well rounded defenses than Tangrowth and has better resistances. 4x Grass res and Fighting Res come to mind. Theres a lot of grass attacks flying about too. Jaroda can't do a thing to this guy. Random energy balls? Useless.

Its not a Sub puncher like Breloom either. You can't compare them. It can make use of substitute though as it can Substitute then Spore and instantly recover all the damage it took on the switch. Breloom can't QUITE recover everything in 1 turn.

Just don't compare those guys to this dude. They have different uses. Breloom is best at Subbing and healing and Sub Punching, and Amoongus is best used as a Sporer/Stat Remover who doesn't wear down thanks to its ability. And it destroys the ever popular Nattorei so easily. It does this every match for me. 'm telling you, this is one Poke you have to try out for yourself. I looked at it and was disappointed at first cuz I loved the design but not that stats, but upon using it, its turned out to be a great Pokemon.

My Set
--------
Ability: Regeneration
Giga Drain
Substitute
Spore
HP - Fire

If your wondering. ^

And I think I dumped every EV it had into Special attack and HP or maybe I split it across its defenses. I forget.

...Does Breloom even need anything other than its STAB to beat Nattorei...

Pfft I dunno. But what idiot would keep a Nattorei in against that thing? This thing has the element of surprise. As long as this lil method stays under wraps, no one's gonna switch out their Natt. They always just Gyro ball and laugh at me with their twisted dark eyes saying... "Heh what are going to do? Giga Drain? Bwahaha---eh? AHH! Nooo! Why did you teach it that move? To WHAT END???"

It also kills the Pringles Jellyfish thing. Even if it hits it super effectively.

Amoongus has 30 Base Speed and Spore, Ferrothorn won't really risk switching in.

Must be its English name...

Why would it switch in? If it just came in whats it normally do? Leech seed. Or Thunder wave I guess. But normally Leed Seed! Switch to Amoongus, and nothing happens. Now its going to switch out or stay in. If it leaves, some thing's going asleep. If it stays in, its going to sleep and going to be dead weight for the rest of the match.

This is just a Pokemon you have to see in action. You can't stare at it and go "Its.....bleh." Thats what I did. But its the most faithful poke I have on my DW team on PO and is surprisingly better than it appears to be.
