What are the best things - either specific Mons/movesets or general strategies - against rain teams? Tentacruel is perhaps the biggest obstacle for me; it's tough to take out, but it keeps me from setting up SR to help with dragonite/tornadus.

Tentacruel is great at its usual job of setting up Toxic Spikes and spinning, but it becomes setup bait as a result, especially if your chosen Pokémon doesn't fear a burn from Scald. Reuniclus is an excellent example here (especially if you're using Psyshock - Tentacruel has a pitiful Defence stat), not fearing any of Tentacruel's usual moves leaving it free to set up a Calm Mind or Trick Room. Taunt is another nice way to screw Tentacruel over, although watch out for the occasional offensive set.

As for general strategies, one of my favourite ways to mess with rain teams is to use the rain against them. Kingdra is a prime example, abusing Swift Swim and excellent STABs to tear the opposition apart. You can also screw around with them by running a team without any permanent weather starters but using something like Sunny Day Heatran. They'll be much more likely to sac their weather starter (Politoed in this case), and once it's gone a single Sunny Day completely ruins their day. I've had many a ragequit from that particular strategy. ;)

Edit: None of Krookodile's abilities affect its Evasion, so presumably Haxorus had been hit with lowered accuracy, or Krookodile had boosted Evasion with a move like Double Team or an item like BrightPowder. I can't really think of any other reason why that might have happened. Was this in-game or on a simulator?

If you're playing subway, which I assume you are, then the Krook was probably carrying bright powder because subway is a bitch. There is a thread here that helpfully lists every move set ever

From my understanding the mechanics of Power Split work like this:
Pokemon 1 (100 atk, 200 spAtk) uses Power Split on Pokemon 2 (150 atk and 350 spAtk)
100+150/2 = 125, 200+350/2 = 275
Pokemon 1 and 2 now both have 125 atk and 275 spAtk

or

Pokemon 1 (100 atk, 200 spAtk) uses Power Split on Pokemon 2 at +2 atk (150 atk *2 (equivalent of 300) and 350 spAtk)
100+150/2 = 125, 200+350/2 = 275
Pokemon 1 now has 125 atk and 275 spAtk, Pokemon 2 now has 125*2=250 atk and 275 spAtk

Guard Split works the same but with defense and special defense. Basically it averages either you and your opponent's attack and special attack or your defense and special defense.

2) Volcarona only has Flame Body and Swarm (which is unreleased) as potential abilities so it can't have Flash Fire

3) I feel like this one has already been pretty thoroughly addressed.

Wow, you're completely right. I don't know why I thought Volcarona could have Flash Fire. I'm going crazy.

Is there any reason for Outrage from Haxorus to miss Krookodile? haxorus had mold breaker idk what the krookodile had.

Yeah, Krookodile had to have been holding Brightpowder or another evasion boosting item, unless its evasion was raised or your accuracy was lowered, there's no other possible explanation.

I've really wanted to contribute to Smogon, but I don't know where and how to start on the C&C forums. Moreover, what kind of contributions are needed, and where do they go? I'll happily spend time on this stuff.

Just go on the strategy dex and see what's missing an analysis I'm planning on doing the same thing since holidays have started

I believe I posted in the wrong area last time I asked this, so I'll ask here as well.

Forgive me for being naive, but how do you legally get Nasty Plot AND Dry Skin for Jynx? Smoochum is always female and therefore since there is no male counterpart you cant pass down dreamworld abilities, right(according to this smogon thread)? Nasty Plot is only an egg move from what I've researched. So how can you get both legally? I've noticed everyone uses them together which is why I'm wondering.

EDIT: So apparently you can breed the ability as long as it's female - does this mean I could breed Ditto with Jynx to get the dreamworld ability? I've tried getting DW abilities with Ditto as the male before and it hasn't worked for me. I mean I want Nasty plot so I wouldnt do this anyway, but I was just wondering about breeding with Ditto and DW abilities.

No, Ditto does not allow the passing down of DW abilities. You simply need the FEMALE to have the DW ability and will breed it with any male Pokemon not named Ditto.

You would have to breed it with Hypno/Chimchar/Toxicroak etc... Then you could get Dry Skin AND Nasty Plot.

A little help, please

I'm relatively new at this and I need some suggestions for my team. I want it to be a drought team, and I already have four pokemon picked.

Ninetales with a leftovers, drought.

Will-O-Wisp, Solar Beam, Fire Blast, ?it has a fourth move, but I dont like it.

Venusaur, life orb, chlorophyll
Growth, Hiddenpower Fire, Synthesis, Solar Beam

Volcarona, item?, flame body,
Quiver Dance, Firey Dance, Bug Buzz, Morning Sun

Starmie(this is somewhat questionable), Choice Specs, Natural Cure
Hydro Pump, Icebeam, Thunder Bolt, Rapid Spin

Those are the four I like so far, but I have no idea what else I should use. Any comments would help.

Why did we switch to a council? I never actually knew why, just that it happened.

Because the site staff had become displeased with the suspect tests. They believed that it had become an issue of people banning things simply because they didn't like them. So they decided to leave the integrity of the tiers to those who have shown they truly understand the game of pokemon and the meaning of implications of calling something "broken".

Hope that clears things up!
