Protect and endure together is probably a waste, since the use of one reduces the chance of success of the other. You can't have a guaranteed protect followed by a guaranteed endure, if that's what you're thinking.
Thus, go for Sub + SD. You should be able to pass several speed boosts, and you might be able to pass a Sub and/or attack boosts too.
EDIT: Smogon's sets suggest Leftovers when using Substitute, that way you can sub 5 times. But a pinch berry might be a good alternative. You could even use the one that boosts special attack (Petaya Berry), then pass to a special or mixed sweeper instead of a physical.
Another item option is Mail, since it can't be tricked, thus thwarting attempts to give you a Choice Scarf.

I think the reason for protect and endure together was to activate the pinch berry.

However, I would have to agree with you on the your recommendation.

Is there any intrest in revamping some of the GSC analysis? A few of them are really bare, and i know a few people who would be intrested in helping.

Could someone give me a link to an article that shows all of the IV combinations to get a hidden power [insert type] 70 if it even exists?

thanks Mattj and soothsayer

i know this isnt really related to competative battling but its been buggin me, is chuck the jhoto gymleader fighting or water type every thing i look at says something different

What factors are there in the game that will only work if your ID number is a certain number?

The only ones I know of are:
1. Platinum: Skull Fossils are only findable in the Underground if your ID# is even(?) and Armor Fossils are only findable if your ID# is odd(?). I may have even/odd switched on this.
2. Emerald: Different people appear in the Mauville City Pokemon Center and will do different things depending on your ID#. A girl east of Fortree City will give you a different berry depending on your ID#. This may apply to R/S too, I'm not sure.

What other factors are there?

Note that I'm not referring to things like the Lottery, shiny Pokemon, etc. since those can happen regardless of what your ID# is.
(If any factors like this exist for RBYGSC, I'd like to know also. However, I'm pretty sure there aren't any.)

I'm trying to construct a rain team not for super competitive battling however I'm having trouble finding pokemon that can use this moveset and have a good special attack to back it up:

Charge Beam
Charge
Thunder

I'm looking for pokemon other than Magnezone and Jotleon

Well, Electrode, Lanturn, Rotom, Zapdos can all learn those, as well as other good specials. Not sure if you want both Charge beam and Thunder on them, though.

My plan was to use charged beam to get a sufficient sp attk boost then hit with thunders

but um, if you dont mind, could you list those other specials you mentioned? :)

Well, I don't know the rest of your team, but when I listed them, I was thinking of
Shadow ball for Rotom (or if you use the forms, their specials - Leaf Storm, Air Slash, Overheat, etc)
Heatwave for Zapdos
Surf on Lanturn (if you're making a rain dance team, might as well get as well abuse your boosted power, right?)
Electrode makes a nice, fast lead with RD, but if you want to use him as a sweeper, IIRC, one set had him with a few HP choices (as you could do with any of the above if you really needed one type). Electrode also has Explosion, but I thought it was special type for some reason. Oh well, it's still packs a whollop.

THanks. didnt realize Protect+endure dont work.

You realize that if protect+endure worked, you would have the single most broken pokemon ever.
true, but i hadnt thought about this at all.

Location: Route 201 and Lake Verity
Pokemon: Bidoof (1)
Levels: 2-4
Comment: Meh, it's the first one available, and it's pretty good for low-
levelled Pokemon since they're so common. And yes, same I said for Starly.

Location: Route 205 South
Pokemon: Shellos (1), Bidoof (1), Gastrodon* (2)
Levels: 9-12
Comment: Better than the above. Shellos are abundant, which is really good.
Gastrodon is only available through surfing, while Shellos is available through
both tall grass and surfing.

Location: Route 212 South
Pokemon: Shellos (1), Quagsire (2), Gastrodon* (2), Grimer* (1)
Levels: 23-26
Comment: It's a cool route as they're pretty common. Gastrodon is only
available through surfing. Shellos is available through both methods. Grimer is
only available through the Pokeradar.

Location: Route 215
Pokemon: Marill (2), Lickitung (2)
Levels: 20-22
Comment: Thanks to Carlos for pointing this out. They're two different Pokemon
so it might be worth your time.

Location: Victory Road (National Dex Area)
Pokemon: Azumarill (3), Dewgong (2), Lapras* (2)
Levels: 35-55
Comment: I don't like the area, but it's pretty alright for the abundance of
Azumarill. Lapras is only found by surfing, and Dewgong's found through both
methods.

^for HP

Where do I EV train HP in Platinum?
The Whooper area doesn't seem to be there...

Well, there's Fisherman Travis on Route 212 (though I forget exactly which one he is on the south end - rainy). He has 3 Barboaches, and 1 Shellos (each give 1 HP EV w/o Pokerus, or items.)

Edit: beaten by coolking. Aww.

For some reason PBR won't let me use my arceus on random wifi. Its the TRU one and the event just ended, I don't see any reason why I can't use it. Does anyone know why we can't use arceus? Or if you can, can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno = Legendary birds.
Raikou, Entei, Suicune = Legendary dogs or beasts??
Regirock, Regice, Registeel = The Regi's
Azelf, Mesprit, Uxie = Legendary ???????

I believe the game only refers to them as the Beings of Emotion, Knowledge, and Willpower. So perhaps the legendary beings? Maybe someone else can remember a time when they're called something else...

Sprites/Imps/Avatars..? Hard to say, really. I was 68% confident the trio would be dragons in this generation, but this trio eliminated the Zenith Cross idea.

Let's say i got a 12% Tentacruel and stealth rock is in field. This means that Tentacruel will be KO'ed when switching in.

Question is will Tentacruel absorb toxic spikes in the ground before fainting or will faint immediately (without absorbing)?
