I have absolutely no idea why my IV Checking code is so screwy on Pearl... I find myself having to scroll through the pokemon's menu multiple times to get a result in my tms and quite often, the IVs shown aren't even of the pokemon I'm viewing... The only way that seems to work is isolating the pokemon with the move option in my PC and checking it again, but for the last two years, this hadn't been a problem... What can I do?

How does Victreebel even get Power Whip?
Since it's a mixed attacker, 252 Atk, 252 SpA, 4 Spe. Maybe more speed if you want to be faster than 352 in the sun.

EDIT: Perhaps it would be better to run a + speed nature with 162 EVs in speed. That outspeeds Scarf Latias (in the sun of course). Or 193 Speed EVs, which should outspeed once-danced Salamence, taking it out with HP Ice before it can Fire Blast you. (I think you hit 493 speed; if there's rounding at points in the calculations, you'll need a few more speed EVs)
If you're using it in UU, I don't know so much about the threats there.

Given you're not going to get Power Whip after all, perhaps 65 Atk/ 252 SpA / 193 Spe, with a speed boosting nature (which defense you drop depends whether you fear Earthquake or Fire Blast/Blizzard more)

Oops, I meant Leaf Blade, and yes, this is for UU.

I went to PsyPokes via Google to find an answer for this one...though it is still vague to me.

Can a trapping move, such as Clamp, Sand Tomb, and Fire Spin, be Baton Passed out of and still have the opponent trapped? Furthermore, can another Trapping Move be used and replace the previous one?

To my knowledge partial trapping moves cannot be baton passed. FULL trapping moves - mean look and spider web - baton pass 'both ways' - if either Pokemon baton passes, the player whose Pokemon was trapped still has their (possibly different) Pokemon trapped.

If i capture a pokemon at level 50 and ev train it, will the ev's show up at the Battle Tower?

EX hacked Latias via the Modifier on Action Replay?

Yes, the EV's will show up, as long as you deposit the Pokémon in the PC first.

Also, you don't have to keep it at level 50, any Pokémon above 50 is brought down to that level when in the Battle Tower.

Yeah thanks. i knew pokes would be brought down to level 50, but i didn't know whether EV training would help.

Follow up- My Latias currently has a speed stat of 130, EV training in speed would mean it would be 193 right?

I'm not an expert on hacking or how the mechanics work, but I believe all pokemon need to have a valid "PID" or "Pokemon ID."
If you put a pokemon through pokesav, it will tell you whether it's a legitly bred pokemon or hacked pokemon with invalid PID.

I'm pretty sure different natures will have different PID's so hacking that will make it come up as hacked.

Again I'm not an expert, but people can check for hacking otherwise why would people waste time RNG abusing? VGC will have methods that put your pokemon through a system (I'm not sure) that will determine if it's legit or hacked.

Changing a nature is changing one variable on the Pokemon.

As far as I was concerned, the biggest danger in hacks that made them noticeable was people hacking a Pokemon (like, hacking it into creation) without knowing the secret values, which is probably this PID you speak of. As I knew it, there's this thing called "Secret ID" which is randomised like your Trainer ID but the only way to find out is through hacking.

The Secret ID is what changes "apparently hatched at..." into "hatched at..." and allows you to nickname Pokemon if it matches. Those aren't based on just Trainer ID. But you can hack Secret ID as well, so if you find out your Secret ID you can make your hacked Pokemon look legit.

I'm very sure there is no possible way to check a "properly" hacked Pokemon as hacked. I believe any "system" they might put it through is merely checking the chances of that Pokemon existing, and denying the Pokemon if those chances are way too small. There's no magical value attached to a Pokemon that hackers can't get to which somehow knows when its associated Pokemon has been modified.

This is how I've always know it anyway. Had a friend who hacked often.

Actually, you get less stat points at level 50 (If it was level 100, then yes, you would get 63 extra). Looking at Bulbapedia, it looks like you'll end up with 178 speed (assuming you're running a +Speed nature).

When a battle recorder upload fails with the message "There appears to be a problem with the recipient's Pokemon. Data was not sent.", what exactly does that mean? I assume that it happens when either player is using hacked Pokemon, but can anything more specific be deduced from that?

Have a few questions and one request, thanks for reading this, though

Hey all, I'm new in the community but I always read the Pokemon analisis done here, which is amazing, I wanted to request help with the pokerus and help on where can I get my DP friend code? so I can post it here on my profile and be able to link with other!
Thanks

Help with what about Pokerus? Help infecting a Pokemon with it? Once you find your friend code, I would head to the Wi-fi forums and see if someone will trade you an infected Pokemon.

Your own Friend Code can be found by using the Pal Pad key item, after you have been on WiFi.

Somewhat curious about this.

http://www.smogon.com/dp/abilities/super_luck

It says here that Super Luck auto-boosts the crit stage by one. However, Serebii's explanation is slightly different...

http://www.serebii.net/games/criticalhits.shtml

Here it says that the crit stage is doubled for each move. Therefore, while normal moves like Sucker Punch would receive a single stage crit boost (initially stage 1, 1 * 2 = 2), moves such as Night Slash and Psycho Cut would receive TWO stages in boosts (initially stage 2, 2 * 2 = 4).

Which of the two is correct? Has this been tested?

Can Grudge be Baton-Passed? If so, would it then be a potential counter for EQ-users?
Grudge only applies until the user's next move. Thus, it can't be Baton Passed, because using Baton Pass counts as the next move.
In any case, surely Destiny Bond is better than Grudge.

(EDIT: Whether Grudge and DBond remain in effect if you're fully paralyzed, confused, attracted, asleep, or frozen, I don't know. Also whether they stay in effect if in-game you use an item. That might suggest a way to beat the E4 at low levels.)

Trace will randomly copy either opponent.

Here is a nice explanation (I think) of damage modifications, including critical hits.

This is my truly last question, I promise!

What is it with this 2HKO and OHKO business? How is it determined?

The attacking and defending pokemon's stats are input into a damage calculator, including damage modifiers, items, and damage-affecting abilities.

If one use of the attack removes a minimum of 53% from the defending pokemon, then the attack 2HKOs (2 hit KOs) it, as leftovers will still leave it at damage that is low enough to be KOd by the next attack. The exact percentage is lower with Stealth Rock taken into account.

A OHKO means that the pokemon will be defeated in one hit, taking 100% damage (or 88% with Stealth Rock).

I've been having trouble with RNG reporter..or I guess just RNGing in general. Today I've been trying to RNG for a shiny Eevee, and I kept messing up. The natures were all wrong when I used the pc box R/L paddle button glitch thing. now I just thought it was cause I counted wrong. But then a miracle (for me) happened. I got a count of 6 happiness checker double taps and 4 coin toss taps. I KNOW I counted right. When I hatched the egg, it was a normal Eevee (-.-) Is there something goin' on here? I checkked my SID and ID and all checks out.

An OHKO is a one-hit knouckout, meaning that a Pokemon knocks another out with only one attack. It's dtermined by the attack (or special attack) of the attacking Pokemon, and HP/defense (or special defense) of the defending Pokemon. There's a formula I would give you a link to, but I'm not on my laptop. For example, if Tyranitar uses Pursuit on Alakazam, that's always going to be a OHKO just because Alakazam is as physically frail as you can get.

A 2HKO is similar; it's when a Pokemon has to use two moves to knock another out. This is important for knocking out walls. You hit them once when they switch in, then again the next turn, and they die before they can status you or heal (it also means you're doing more than 50% damage, so you're doing more than they can Recover off).
