[Beginner] Mob Mafia - Game over! The M.O.B. win!

UltraPorygon has been subbed in for Thoughts (Really busy). UltraPorygon cannot post in the thread, talk by PM, or go on #mob for a half hour.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!!! Due to an unexpected problem, Day 2 will now end Saturday at 5:00 GMT. I apologize for any inconvenience.

No more votes. If that extension is for the reasons why i think it is then we have some problems.

Don't unvote yet. But also dpon't add any more votes.

EDIT: We will go ahead with the hex lynch. Should he flip scum then the game should be fairly easy to close out. Should he turn town then we had to lynch someone anyway and the fallout should be left until postgame.

Deadline!

Everyone marches through the forest, it’s tranquil branches, gently blowing in the breeze, is interrupted by constant arguments from the travelers. Some want to lynch BlisseyOfDoom, a couple suggest ILoveLiza, and the fools dare to think of lynching auramaster. The General finally grows tired of this arguing. “JUST PICK SOMEBODY!!!”. ginganinja doesn’t appreciate getting yelled at. “YOU STOP YELLING!”. ILoveLiza also joins in, screaming at the top of his lungs, “SHUT UP!”. “YOU SHUT UP!”. “YOU SHUT UP!”. “EVERYONE SHUT UP!”. NEVER!”.

Next person who yells will be struck by lightning!

The yelling stopped, to everyone’s relief. The General, calming himself, attempts to end the argument. “Now, everyone calmly select who we should lynch”. A couple point fingers at ILoveLiza, led by BlisseyOfDoom. In return, most of you gesture at BlisseyOfDoom, flaming him with any names you can think of. A flame war erupts, with Blissey standing proud against about half of the group. More yelling came. A few looked at ILoveLiza, trying to find a sign of his opinion. He looks around, first at BlisseyOfDoom, then at ginganinja, before finally pointing at a new face.

Lynch Hextator cause I said so! With such undeniable logic behind his decision, you quickly start a riot against Hextator, who until then had mostly stayed in the background. “Why are you lynching me? I want to help!”. But it was too late. Everyone had already surrounded him, and he couldn’t escape. Someone asks from the crowd, “How should we kill him?”. “Hang him by his neck!”.

A couple of you think a standard lynch is boring, but most of the crowd chants for Hextator’s hanging. Since the crowd is appearently determined to have a boring death, you hang him in a tree, and he dies. His resume is found in his pocket.

Dear Hextator,
you are Jason Taylor.

You are one of the greatest DEs to ever play the game known by many as Football. You are a six-time Pro Bowl selection, was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2006, along with being the NFL's all time leader in fumble return touchdowns (6).

At night, you may send a PM to auramaster and coolking49 titled, “Night X - Protect <user>”, you will use your amazing defenses to protect <user> from all non-killing actions. However, need to let the offense play after working hard to protect someone, so you may only use this power every Even night.

In addition, you may send a PM to coolking49 and auramaster titled, “Night X - predict <flavor>”, you will use your prediction powers to predict an event. This event is for flavor only, and doesn’t actually effect the game. It doesn’t have to be possible in the real world. Also, you can’t focus enough on the prediction while protecting someone, so you may only use this power every Odd night.

You are allied with the M.O.B., you win if all threats are eliminated.

All yelling stopped. As the sun sets, everyone sets up their tents silently. Even when iiMKUltra returned to camp and asked what happened, everyone remained silent.

It is now Night 2. Night 2 ends Monday, 5:00 GMT, or when all night actions are sent in.

He was talking about earlier. The majority was reached while he was asleep. And because of the timing all the Americans were asleep during the grace period meaning that I couldn't stop the lynch without staying up all night. I explained all of this to Hex and he was a good sport about it all. Part of the lynch was my fault, part was hex's fault and part was the mod's fault.

Not going to go into that now. Some people will now know they are now cleared. Talk to me so I can pass on what I know should something happen to me.

Well, this is awkward.

Ah, well, I've seen village recover from a mislynch in my first Beginner game, so it CAN happen. Kinda evens out the two mafia deaths last night, so that softens the blow.

Mislynch is no big deal (so long as you don't kill a power role).
Honestly it's probably better than no lynch.

killing a villager is better than no lynch? lol...........

dono how you figure that
i know why no lynches are bad, but it is not like the act of lynching makes up for the fact a villy was murked...

i fail to see how this outcome is better than if it had been a no lynch

Lynching is a chance to kill a mafia.
No lynch has no chance of killing mafia.
Lynching a villager increases the chances of getting a mafia next time.

Being overly cautious with the lynch only helps the mafia in most situations.

Still watching this thread, and I have to say lol to this. You might as well say it is good for the village that the mafia kills because they trim down the village numbers and thus allow more likely lynching of mafia.

lol

-_-

I wasn't saying that mislynching is good, but that no lynch is pointless.

You can't say "Oh look, he was clean. We should have no lynched." Because we couldn't have known that before hand.

In my opinion the village is better off lynching someone everyday that has a reasonable chance of turning up mafia than they would be by lynching only when they have a highly suspicious target.

I don't really believe this. The game is created such that the village outnumber the mafia (otherwise it would be informed majority v uninformed minority which makes no sense at all). Therefore, there is a >50% chance that you will lynch a village if you have no "suspicious" target day one. I don't think that works in village favor.

If you assume 2x4 Mafia + 1 Wolf, then you have 9/25 = 36% chance of random lynching scum on Day 1. Anyone that you can clean or mark as suspicions should increase the chances of killing mafia. The problem with no lynch is that not only does it have no chance of killing a mafia, you also forever sacrifice that chance to kill a mafia if you did lynch on that day.

If someone was clever with numbers they could probably calculate out the exact minimum confidence you need for a lynch to benefit the village.
