Best DS games

I also agree with the fact that Sonic Rush and its sequel are fantastic games. DKR DS is also recommended.

I hated Phantom Hourglass, but that's just me.

Personally, Mario vs donkey kong 2 is a lot of fun. It's an action puzzle game, and you can make your own coarses. got it in april, and played it up until the day I got pearl :D

new super mario bros.

that's what i have, except for sonic and tetris. i've heard good things about them. also, i love all these games so they are recommended.

I'm not too crazy about NSMB. IMO, it's somewhat dull and pales when compared to getting the GBA remake of SMB 3 (I'm sorry, but I have nostalgia glasses, and it's by far superior). It's not high on my list for recommended games.

Since Contra isn't out yet, (that's my first post on this thread xD) I would recommend getting Metroid Prime Hunters in the meantime.

Kirby: Canvas Curse is, if you can manage to find it, a MUST. The game is simply awesome, and it was one of the first games that made me go "WOOH DS :D". Very easy to pick up and play, but the mechanics are fun throughout the game, and it looks gorgeous as well. This game is just FUN.

I'd also recommend Meteos (again, if you can find it). Its a falling-block game, somewhat similar to Tetris but not really, actually. I can't vouch for the "disney"-themed version of the game, but the original is excellent in every way except for its lack of Online Multiplayer, and once purchased stayed cemented within my DS until I had purchased Mario Kart DS.

Speaking of Mario Kart DS, buy it. Its the best Mario Kart ever. Seriously. I haven't played Diddy Kong Racing DS, but from what I understand Mario Kart is a superior product, and I know for a fact that more people have Mario Kart DS, so it would probably be more worth your money. I see no reason to buy both.

New Super Mario Bros. is good, but also easy. You'd probably get more bang for your buck downloading an older Mario game off Virtual Console, but the game is undeniably well made and has three special coins for you to hunt down in each stage, as well as mixing in some of the 3D Mario gameplay with the 2D. Really, the only thing wrong with this game is the fact that its so damn easy, and if you like Mario games its highly recommended.

I'd be wary of Animal Crossing and Nintendogs. While they are both excellent games (and I love them both), they both suffer from the "never ends" aspect, which is both a blessing and a curse.

I'll try it hit some things people haven't said / rarely said...

- Trauma Center: Under the Knife

Awesome game. Surgery drama game? Hell yes. A rare find, but it's VERY good. Though some of the last few levels are very difficult. :\

- Luminous Arc

A little unknown gem. It's a SRPG (Strategy RPG), much like FFTA. But unlike FFTA, it isn't tedious and boring. It's very fun, and the characters are great.

- Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon

It's not a classic pokemon game!? AND IT'S GOOD?! This game is fairly fun, one of those random generated dungeon crawlers. It can get a bit repetitive, but it's tons of fun in small doses.

More to come soon. >_>

-Elite Beat Agents
-Advance Wars Dual Strike
-New SMB
-Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (not Justice for All)
-Mario Kart DS
-Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow (PoR is about as good)
-Animal Crossing WW
-Yoshi's Island 2

All top-notch.

Predictions:

Mariokart DS or Diddy Kong Racing?
New Super Mario Brothers or Mario 64 DS?
Castlevania PoR or Dos?
Zelda: phantom Hourglass or FF3?
WW: touched or EBA?

I only own Pokemon, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and something else, so DO WHAT I SAY.

Dawn of Sorrow is ASS - it is just a WORSE Aria of Sorrow, with awful weapons. Portrait of Ruin is amazing, and far and away the better game, in plot, in weapons, in game play; it blows Dawn of Sorrow out of the water.

I feel like Jump! Ultimate stars deserves a mention, as its arguably the best fighter on the system. simply because of its diverse multiplayer. the only real problem it suffers is the language barrior and the shit nintendo wifi community, neither of which are its fault, except the ability to gem farm online.

on a similar note Starfox DS has a good mulitplayer too. albiet it sucks that the single player is so bad, which is embarasing for a starfox game. and the only real problem with the multiplayer are people who disconnect right before loseing.

- Three 3 Phoenix Wright games
- Elite Beat Agents

Those five are easily my favourite games. :x And to a lesser extent;

- Mario Kart DS
- New Super Mario Bros.
- Pokémon Ranger (IMO anyway)

so far so cool. carl both of your rec's are noted since I loved yoshi's island on older platforms, and I hear nothing but love for EBA.

Probably definetely going for AW:DS

Mariokart DS or Diddy Kong Racing?
New Super Mario Brothers or Mario 64 DS?
Castlevania PoR or Dos?
Zelda: phantom Hourglass or FF3?
WW: touched or EBA?

Mario Kart DS. New Super Mario Brothers. Castlevania. Final Fantasy 3. Wario Ware Touched.

I will also suggest Advance Wars DS, it's an awesome game that I play heaps. Also the Phoenix Wright games.

Not much love here for Tetris DS? Best game on the DS! Uber skills and micro needed in Tetris. Also EBA is so much fun as everyone else says. AWDS is a pretty good strategy game.

Zelda: PH is fun. Get it.

I would not recommend getting MPH. The adventure mode is pretty dull, and there are way too many hackers on Wi-Fi. IMO, this game would have been way better on the Wii.

Castlevania: PoR isn't as atmospheric as DoS, but it is longer and harder. Heck, the graphics seem worse, both in sprites and backgrounds. The online co-op isn't fun unless if you get FCs to play more than one 30-sec stage. I would recommend it just for the alternative game modes.

Custom Robo Arena has a VERY boring adventure mode and a Wi-Fi that is fun for a while, but gets boring later on.

Elite Beat Agents, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan (its Japanese counterpart), and Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 (Blows both of the previously mentioned games out of the water).

I got the new SMB, mario 64, FF3, partners in time and another game(TV something) for 35$

i realize that SMB is the only one i really wanted but COME ON 5 GAEMS FOR 35$!!!

the dude is leaving town, orginially it was DSLite, FF3, SMB and SM64 for 120, and then he was like "i'll throw in _2 games for 15$" and i was like "IM GETTIN HONGY HOMBRE"

I second getting Jump! Ultimate Stars. I'm a hardcore anime fan, so that's just me. But as a fighting game, its pretty innovative due to the koma system. Only problem is that its available in Japan only, which isn't too much of a problem with Gamefaqs having a complete guide. I borrowed it from my friend in July, and still play it, even though he had beat it.

Mario Kart DS is THE best racing game I've played. Get it now. You will not regret it.

Sonic Rush wasn't that great, but the sequel was amazing. Get Adventure, not the first one.

Metroid Prime Hunters was meh. The multiplayer was fun, but single player was tedious. I don't recommend it.

i'd highly recommend Rune Factory, especially if you're into Harvest Moon type games. this one gave me lots of hours of fun.

JUS is also extremely fun online and it's pretty easy to play; there are plenty of guides and such online for translations of komas.

the phoenix wright games are great. all of them (i believe the new one is just being released tomorrow...for those that havent already played the full english translation in the japanese game).

i'll probably edit in more stuff.

I ended up getting a DS lite + FF3+ Partners in Time+ SM64+ New SMB

new SMB is classic+nice
SM64 i never played on 64 so its not giving me any nostalgia love. well put together tohugh
PiT is fin like papare mario but somewhat exasperating
ff3 is like the most transparent rpg ever eve I can;t get into it

i found dudes who will trade me ff3 for EBA ^__^
and PiT+SM64 for AWDS and DoS ^_____^
