Best Users of EVIOLITE

actually, wigglytuff has the same exact stats for the special side (it doesn't take a genius to see that Lairon's physical defence is obscene, lol), but a moot point.

Anyway, going to test these once the smogon server is up.

I didn't read the whole thread, so it might have been already suggested, but:

Tangela is one of the best eviolite users, with Regenerator, high defense, Leech Seed to make up for the lack of leftovers, and it has a wide support movepool consisting of things like Sleep Powder, Knock Off, Reflect...base 100 special attack avoids Tangela to become setup bait, since it's...mediocre but ok to break subs / doing enough damage.

iirc, Tangela only has slightly more bulk than Tangrowth when holding Eviolite, so superior defensive capabilities isn't the reason you would use it but rather its slightly higher Speed which allows it to outrun a few extra threats. Tangrowth, however, hits harder and has a better attacking movepool (Earthquake, Brick Break, Focus Blast, Rock Slide). Personally, I prefer Tangrowth.

Golbat performs as one of the best counter to Snorlax:

Golbat@Eviolite
Nature:Impish
Ability:Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
move 1: Roost
move 2: Whirlwind
move 3: Taunt / Torment
move 4: Super Fang

CurseLax, beware! With access to Haze, Taunt, Roost, and Eviolite, Golbat is the most effective wall against Curselax. Even a +6 with 0 Atk EVs cannot KO this guy, even with 252 Atk and Adamant Nature at +5 has a 3.7 chance of OHKOing. Haze takes off Attack boosts, Taunt makes sure it cannot setup, so does Torment, and Super Fang does a great amount of damage.

Yea, I know Super Fang won't KO, but Seismic Toss won't on Chansey, but people still use it. And it isn't for Snorlax, it also counters Chansey, and most Pokemon with a giant HP stat.

And those PKMN usually have a Recovery move, your set is ok, but we can slash Whirlwind and add another attack move, IMO.

question, which is bulkier, me not knowing if sealio would work with eviolite, as no leftovers defeats the purpose of being walrein, these are identical spreads with sassy nature, 252HP/152Def/106SPd

384/321/333vs. 424/228/242 defenses

Here's a thought - a Gravity setup Metang.

Metang @ Eviolite
Impish
252HP/4AtK/252SpD
-Stealth Rock
-Gravity
-Meteor Mash
-Earthquake

Impish nature with max SpD investment gives it perfectly equal defenses on either end of the spectrum with final stats of 389, though obviously you can tilt it more towards physically or specially bulky as needed. If you pick up a Meteor Mash attack boost, his attack stat reaches a respectable 281, so it isn't entirely useless offensively, and Earthquake is obviously great under Gravity.

He would pair excellently with a Choiced Flygon, who quad resists Fire, is immune to Ground, and loves Gravity to make Earthquake a ridiculous attacking option.

Well, if you do backwards calcs, then with that spread Sealeo has the same defenses as he would if the bases were 123 Def, 120 SpD, which if you plug that (along with its base 90 HP) into RD's BSR calculator, then you will find that Sealeo is in fact (significantly) more bulky than Walrein (at least with that spread).

However, the strategy that Walrein loves really needs leftovers to work. If you are trying something other than Stalrein, Sealeo could be better, but for the classic role, Walrein has it beat.

Has anyone brought up Magneton yet? Makes for a great steel trapper and dragon absorber, in OU at least. Perhaps not as effective in UU due to the insane amount of sun coupled with the fewer steels and dragons running around, however it can check Kyurem fairly decently. I haven't played UU too much, so I'm not too sure how effective he is, but what do you guys think?

^Kyurem commonly carries Focus Blast, which will do a number on Magneton even with Eviolite. In fact, most Dragons carry something that hits Magneton super effectively.

You know that Super Fang won't KO right?

Technically it will KO once it brings them down to 1 HP, but that's going to take forever.

And those PKMN usually have a Recovery move, your set is ok, but we can slash Whirlwind and add another attack move, IMO.

If you're using Golbat, I wouldn't think you should be using an attack move other than Super Fang. Brave Bird is probably the only option and off of a completely uninvested base 80 Attack, I don't think it's worth it, especially since it chips away at your health.

Also, Taunt deals with recovery.

With entry hazards and Whirlwind, Golbat can Taunt to prevent recovery moves and then Super Fang can simply weaken the foe into KO Range. I.e. 1 Spikes and Stealth Rocks means 25% damage.

If the foe lacks Leftovers/Black Sludge (or it's canceled by Hail / Sandstorm) then a simple Taunt, Super Fang ( 75% / 2 = 37.5% ) Super Fang ( 37.5% / 2 = 18.75% ), Whirlwind, and the foe will be KOed the next time they switch in.

Metapod @ Eviolite
252hp/252def/4att
Impish
- Tackle
- Iron Defense/Harden
- Bug Bite
- String Shot

Seriously nobody thought of this? After 1 Iron Defense, Metapod reaches an astounding Def stat of 687. This makes Metapod physically more defensive than max/max+ Shuckle which has the highest Def stat in the whole game.

This makes an excellent counter to SD Celebi with STAB Bug Bite dealing 4x damage and also stealing Celebi's berry to further boost one more of it's stat. After one Iron Defense, Seed Bomb doesn't have a chance in hell to whatever-hit-ko Metapod while Zen Headbutt only does slightly better.

String Shot is to disable the switch-in when Celebi is inevitably switched out after realising it's fighting a losing battle, giving you the opportunity to switch out to an appropriate counter and outspeed for the KO.

Metapod can also win Skarmory in a stuggle war 1v1 if they are both the last Pokemon and Skarmory lacks Brave Bird.

Tackle is for those who resist Bug Bite while Defense Curl can be used in place of Iron Defense for those who lack PtHGSS move tutors.

Lack of leftovers really hurts though.

Good thing this is in the UU thread. ;).

Metapod is fine, according to a certain sig, Evolite Kakuna is the troll set.

Gurdurr isn't completely outclassed in OU. Call me crazy, but he is a great niche psychic/ghost-type lure with maxed hp/spdef and eviolite. He survives any non-boosted Psychic in OU; example calc.

369 Atk vs 327 Def & 374 HP (90 Base Power): 288 - 338 (77.01% - 90.37%)

Timid LO Alakazam is the strongest non-Specs Psychic in OU, and it can't 1hko on its own.

640 Atk vs 327 Def & 374 HP (140 Base Power): 295 - 348 (78.88% - 93.05%)

Modest Specs Chandelure Overheat is the strongest special attack in OU, and it can't 1hko either.

359 Atk vs 327 Def & 374 HP (140 Base Power): 166 - 196 (44.39% - 52.41%)

Scarf Latios Draco Meteor fails to 2hko, while you easily 2hko with payback, or 1hko at +1 with SR.

etc.

Conk has no chance to do any of this, because it doesn't have the special bulk to tank hits and eliminate these attackers.
