Bleach Discussion Thread

Tbh it'd be nice to see a shikai/bankai shit from him. I'm a big fan of different shikais and stuff. I think they add a special something to the fights in Bleach. Plus being kenpachi he'd probably have one that would just kill everyone.

Well...this week's chapter was underwhelming...

yeah i mean wtf did Unohanas Bankai even do Kenpachi melted to a skeleton and then just went back to normal and killed her o.0 or did she just completly heal him again with her Bankai so that he would get his old power back?

I think that Unohana's Bankai has the ability to melt the flesh off of her opponents (provided I take the panels at face value). Why do I say this? Let's look at the Japanese characters behind Unohana's Zanpakutō, Minazuki: 肉雫唼. I'm no expert on Japanese, but the Bleach Wiki (which I pulled the characters from) says that the literal translation of those characters is "Purify the Flesh." Unohana was recognized as Soul Society's best healer prior to the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, so the name of her Zanpakutō suits her. Now, we delve further into Unohana's personality, and discover that she is actually a blood-thirsty serial killer, much like Zaraki was when we were first introduced to him. What's a more fitting Bankai for a serial killer than one that literally melts her opponent? Okay, I'll admit that my explanation sounds a bit hasty right now, but let's look into her Shikai. Minazuki's Shikai form's ability is to ingest Unohana's patients and use its stomach acids as potent healing medicines. However, what if that ability may have been a modification of Minazuki's standard abilities thanks to Unohana's desire to hide her ever-violent nature?

Just my 2 cents on all this.

Also agreeing with the whole "wtf was that bankai" sentiments.

I'm more in the line with what Trinitrotoluene posted, assuming it melted off Kenpachi's flesh, that would have put him as close to death as possible while keeping him barely alive with healing, which could have been enough to bring out all of his latent power since it was Unohana's intent to keep killing and healing him essentially until he was his old self.

[19:18] <@Tobes> basically the two of them were like "it is implied heavily that I love you"
[19:18] <@Tobes> and then rather than sticking his metaphorical sword in unohana
[19:18] <@Sarenji> yep
[19:18] <@Tobes> kenpachi just sticks his sword in unohana

We have seen people in Bleach come back from far worse injuries than a stab. Does anybody remember how Hiyori was cut in half by Gin, yet she still came back for the Thousand-Year Blood War arc?

This pretty much. Not to mention Orihime can essentially bring anyone back to life through her rejection of fate techniques...hell like Juhabach mentioned, Yamamoto could have had his arm back had he simply called on her. And again, probably why he obliterated him so he was beyond even her powers to revive...

welp, Kenny did it!

Unohana died, and I ain't even mad.

Now excuse me while I cry tears of sadness for Unohana dying and tears of rejoicing for Kenpachi finally being able to talk to his Zanpakutō.
