I liked the clone system because otherwise we wouldn't have been given Dr Mario. That's basically the only advantage.

Clones were put in because the game had to be rushed.

If it was a matter of being rushed, they could have just reduced the roster. It seems as if it was just a quick way of adding more to the game.
That said, I believe that there's enough variation between the "originals" and the clones besides the two Links.

Yeah, i find the subtle differences, as Falco's Up smash not meant to KO like fox's, and Fox's dair not being a spike like Falco's, among other things, make the two almost completely different.

Clones were a decent solution to a lack of dev time, however, that said, I would far prefer to have full characters to clones. Even the "separate" clones like Fox/Falco, or Marth/Roy, deserve separate characters.
Also, DM, think of it logically. Replacing Marth and Roy with Ike is a net loss of one sword user, good cuz there's like 7 of them, and it gives room for a non-sword FE character like Hector. It's just efficiency, and there's also a theory that Marth and Roy were there to advertise FE in America and Europe.

I wasn't against clone characters, some of them are great imo (just because the character they represent, no matter if their attacks are a rip off), some of these being Luigi (pretty much a Mario), and Falco (always better than Fox for me).

Some of course doesn't deserve a come back like Dr. Mario, Pichu and Young Link. Ice climbers rock, i want them again. Would want to see Mewtwo back, being unique this time.

I doubt there would be any axe users at all, let alone hector. The only new characters that will appear will most likely be icons, Ike is there because hes the first FE character to make it to a console, or better yet a good console. Other FE characters seem illogical to use as no one would know them.

Well there is like

Milincia or something... I dunno it started with an M. >_>

but whatever, she's one of the main characters in the next game so having her in the game would serve as a pseudo-advertisement like Roy.

edit: oh it's Micaiah... well I was kind of close.

Ahahaha, I love this music update. That's awesome how they incorporated that bastard Grim Reaper's music.

If you haven't played Kid Icarus, that's the Grim Reaper on the platform above Pit. He slowly walks around minding his own business until he catches a glimpse of you. Then he suddenly spazzes out and runs amok on the platform he's on. Not only that, but he summons hoards of flying snakes that seek and destroy you. They'll keep coming too as long as he sees you. They'll stop coming when the music returns to normal, and the Grim Reaper calms down. To kill him, shoot him or time your aim and shoot him in the back. Pretty bad huh?

That's Sonius, always on top of Brawl.
I've heard the music update, nothing too special in my opinion, but a decent piece nonetheless.

I hope we get a Wii sequel to Kid Icarus, such an underrated game, and I bet no one ever heard of Pit before his revelation in the original Brawl trailer. The music has been fantastic so far and this is one soundtrack worth buying. I own the Smashing...Live! album and that was amazing, this is already shaping up to be better than that.

Shit son, I had Kid Icarus for Game Boy. The original one.

And why does he say "You might imagine it to be a bit forced, but I think it sounds quite good."???? I've been paying attention to these updates, and it doesn't feel like this guy is part of a gigantic programming team, it's like he's... making it himself, and is desperate for everyone to like his game.

He was at one point the only developer for the game or so I recall, and I doubt the developing team has been getting to huge sizes since then. It does sound like it's a blog for what he's doing each day on the game, but whatever. I wouldn't say no one heard of Pit before SSBB, but some people definitely didn't see him as such an important character until then. Pit Icarus was fun though!

And then we learn that the translators have been taking pity on Sakurai because all of his original Japanese quotes translate to "please accept me" over and over again.

The funny things is that I've seen some people complain that the OoT Medley was forced. Maybe Sakurai is saying that because of those (or the Japanese equivalents of those) people.

The original Kid Icarus was the NES version.

I got it from the VC and Pit has a fondness for miscalculating jumps.

There is a Game Boy Kid Icarus though. Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. So at least we know Mullet isn't making up a game. Though, he's a few years late when compared to the NES game.

I liked the score. While i didn't like it as much as the others, it just goes to show how detailed the musical score is this time around.

Is it just me, or does Sakurai REALLY want us to buy Kid Icarus?

I think I remember him mentioning that we should try out Kid Icarus a couple times before his blog in 2006...Or maybe I'm imagining things.

Can't wait for the Brawl Album, Smashing Live was great. I may never have played Pit but I did know about him to some extent.

I meant the original Game Boy, you silly puds. None of that Advance or Color nonsense.

That's what the game was on.

The first Kid Icarus was released in 1986 (JPN ; 1987 USA) on the NES. Your game was released in 1991

He's saying when he said original, he meant the original game boy(as opposed to game boy advance/color/pocket/sp) not the original Kid Icarus.
