Sorry, but I never understood why people want Sonic so much and even if he got in, what kind of moveset would there be?

captain falcon
Fox
Falco
Ice Climbers
I believe Sheik

all of them basically had their moveset completely invented I believe. Furthermore, Sonic has starred in two fighting games of his own already. Moveset should never be a problem, ever.

Also, here's hoping that, if he gets in, he doesn't speak. >_> at all. please.

It's foolish to hope that he won't speak, he's spoken in every 3D Sonic game, hasn't he?

I'd say it's more prudent to hope that we get Jason Griffith (or whoever did his SA2 voice) as his voice actor, not the trash actor that's been in the last few games. </opinion>

Man, next update is 3 hours away. @_@

Ryan Drummond ;). Jason Anthony Griffith is Sonic's current voice actor actor (along with Shadow the Hedgehog and Jet the Hawk from Sonic Riders fame), and a terrible one at that, though he does Shadow's voice fine (I still prefer David Humphrey for Shadow). Ryan Drummond did Sonic's voice from Sonic Adventure to Sonic Heroes before being replaced by Jason in Shadow the Hedgehog onward.

And if only for the possibility of having a Shadow alternate skin, I hope Sonic doesn't speak either <_<.

If not that, PLEASE, for the love of god, have a Tails assist trophy.

Thanks Thunderhorse. Let's hope for Ryan then.

Overall every voice actor before Sonic Heroes is better than any of them during and after Sonic Heroes, except maybe the guy who replaced Eggman's dead actor. He does a relatively good job.

D'you think they'll cover each of three Pokemon's specials, or just focus on one at a time?

I suspect that they'll cover the three Pokemon at the same time. Remember, the Pokemon themselves aren't selectable characters on their own, the Trainer is. The Pokemon are just tools for the Trainer to use. I highly doubt that they'll focus on one Pokemon at a time as if they were separate selectable characters (even though technically they are, but I think you know what I mean).

Though I have been wrong before.

Sonic will probably talk as much as Mario or Link - reduced to grunts, cries, wordless vocalisations. Which should be fine, no?

I don't think they'll have enough time in the approx 80 days left of coverage before Dec 3rd to cover all characters, specials, final smashes, items and stages.

As such, I predict that they won't bother with all of the Pokémon's specials, but they WILL show us the trainer's final smash. I'm thinking it would be the release of a legendary, in the realm of Lugia from SSBM. (Alternatively it could be the elemental hyper beams.)

Anyway, people seem to have a lot of worries about Trainer, but I see it as the greatest and most innovative thing to happen to Brawl so far. It'll be like playing Zelda/Shiek except you have a reason to switch and mix it up a bit, which I always liked to see happen with Z/S.

They said they're changing Bowser, right? That probably means they know he's the worst character in Melee and have made him considerably more useable. I feel that if Charizard really does handle like Bowser, we have nothing to worry about, cause I'm sure they'll know how to make it work. And besides, there's a good chance he'll be able to fly, Kirby-style, which would be extremely redeeming in its own right.

Last time I checked, they were making such a big deal about Mario and Sonic finally being in a game together for the first time (that Olympics thing). Why would they have all this hype about it, just to put them in another game together within the next month?

I find it a bit weird that Ivysaur is going to be playable. I can't see him really being very fast or powerful, but that's just imo.

That kind of perception doesn't apply to Smash Bros, since there are characters like Kirby, and Pikachu fighting Ganondorf etc... even Pichu was on the game!.

It's true; notice how Pikachu matches Mewtwo in power? That's just silly, but it works in Smash Bros.

I suspect projectile and powder attacks will be ivysaur's main bit. Hold down B for charge-up solarbeam, maybe? Sleep powder similar to Jigglypuff's sing? Grass types have a lot of potential for interesting tricks.

Pokémon Trainer seems to be a very more complex character than we think. I think I'll just list the complexities revolving around him.
  • Entry to the stage (Not exactly meant for a platform)
  • When Pokémon Trainer Whites Out, does he lose a stock?
  • Taunt?
  • Where will Pokémon Trainer stand on certain stages? Bridge of Eldin, Castle Siege, Rumble Falls, Skyworld...
  • How each Pokémon works.
    • Moves
    • Speed
    • Weight
    • Throw distance
    • Jump Height
    • Stamina (Is it different for each Pokémon?)
      • Is it based off of damage, or time?
  • Is there a way to not start with Squirtle at the beginning of the battle?
  • When a Pokémon takes a healing item, does it affect their Stamina alongside to the Damage Meter?
  • Throwing.
  • How does Ivysaur hold things? (Throws and Items)
    • Like a dog?
    • Vine Whip?
    • If Vine Whip, does that mean that Ivysaur will have a distance grab to throw enemies?
  • Will this mean the destruction of other Pokémon character? Like Jigglypuff? (I sure hope not. <3 for Rachel Lillis)
  • Adventure Mode - Subspace Emissary.
  • Kirby.
I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of anything right now.

Sorry StrangerDanger, don't have the exact source. I know it was an interview that they would consider putting in more 3rd Party Characters. Then it was followed by a statement of, "If we did, we'd add two or three at max."

I have a favor to ask of all of you please.

Can we avoid the topic of "New 3rd Party Candidate Characters" in SSBB? They get terrible fast (See: NSider Forums). This topic has more than an amazing 650 posts. We don't want to kill the topic by turning it into something from NSider, right? At least, avoid the topic as much as possible.

P.S.: Don't say anything about Tom Nook or else. I get sick of hearing that name.

While I do like the Solarbeam idea, the only reason Sing works for Jigglypuff is because it can float back onto the stage instead of using an up special recovery move. I can't conceivably imagine how Ivysaur would be able to float back onto the stage in the vein of Kirby or Jigglypuff, and having Sleep Powder mimic Jigglypuff's sing would rob Ivysaur of an up special recovery move (unless Sleep Powder was set to down special instead, then everything would be be a-ok).

New update... it's a shame it had nothing to do with Red, but it's still pretty interesting I suppose. Probably the most interesting assist trophy so far.

More like good ol` fashion fun if you ask me.

It'd be a shame if tournaments didn't allow awesome items such as these. It's a sheer waste of them.

It's the guy Salamence is based off of!

I'm sure this will give us all something to laugh at when some kind of religious anti smash bros. site pops up..

Watch this be changed (at least in name) for the American release....

Well I'd like for that to happen, but I honestly doubt that something like this would be altogether desirable in a competitive matchup. I mean, there are stages with minor obstacles like in some of the starfox stages that are perfectly fine for competitive play, but this goes a bit too far, I think.

also, I just noticed that my previous post was the 666th in this thread, how strangely appropriate.

Well I do believe that with this item, no one gets a perfect game. Amazing how it will throw most strategies out the window, I guess its just one of those things where everyone dies and no one cares.

Wow it think this is going to be my least favorite conditon to face since Togepi's Night Shade. Goodbye Strategies :/

Also I wonder if this "Devil" assist trophy might be censored and not be in the US release? I remember reading about some trophy that was in the JPN Melee but not in the US release because of a "Devil" refrence.

I really hope it isn't censored though.

EDIT:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil_World

some of the article tid bits

Devil World (デビルワールド, Debiru Wārudo?) is an NES game developed by Nintendo, and released in Japan on October 5, 1984, and later released in Europe. The game had similar gameplay to that of Pac-Man. It is the only game designed by Shigeru Miyamoto that has not been released in the United States, despite the fact that all versions of the game are simple and in English. This is due to Nintendo of America's strict policies on the use of religious icons in games, which were at their strictest level at the time of the game's original release. However, it was released in Europe.
