CAP Co-Leader
This is the thread for people to announce their desire to become either the Topic Leader (TL) or a member of the Topic Leadership Team (TLT) for this creation project. Do not suggest other users. If someone wants to become the TL or a TLT member, they will post on their own, and if they don't have a strong urge to be it then they shouldn't be signing up anyway. The CAP project requires the utmost dedication and a substantial amount of free time, especially to lead, meaning that only those who have carefully considered the magnitude of their application will apply at all. If you are not prepared to fulfill all of the responsibilities to the very end, then do not throw your hat into the ring.

Before applying it is important to read and understand the following posts
Topic Leadership
CAP 5 - Policy Review Summary

We are looking to fill the following five positions to help us lead the creation of this new Pokemon:
  • Topic Leader: In the public's eyes, this is the leader of the project. Overall, the goal of the TL is "quality control", not "project control". The responsibilities of the TL include creating a slate of Concept Submissions, running Concept Assessment, Threats Discussion, Post Play Lookback, and finalizing the slates of TLT members.
  • Topic Leadership Team: The TLT will be leading the four major competitive aspects of creating a Pokemon. They will make slates for their respective threads and provide meaningful discussion points to their specific area. Note that TLT members are allowed to make submissions during stages of the CAP process that they are not actively leading. We are looking to fill the following four positions:
    • Typing Leader
    • Ability Leader
    • Stats Leader
    • Movepool Leader
When making your application, please indicate which position(s) you are applying for. You must identify whether you're applying for TL or TLT (you are allowed to apply for both). You are allowed to specific which position you'd like to fill on the TLT, but it is not required. Topic leaders and TLT members should have the following qualifications:
  • Deep knowledge of the game of Pokemon
  • Familiarity with competitive Pokemon concepts, strategy, and philosophy, as practiced within Smogon
  • Willing to voice opinions and lead others
  • Open-minded to new ideas
  • Creative, "outside-of-the-box" thinker
  • Good writing skills
  • Level-headed when resolving disputes
Once this CAP starts, the Topic Leader and the Topic Leadership Team will be the most important, most visible members of the CAP community, and they are expected to be a strong guiding force throughout the creation process. If you are selected for any of these positions, you will have a great deal of power to influence the project. But you also have a responsibility to stay on top of things. You will have forum moderators to help you, but you need to be regularly active on the project until it is complete. All potential candidates should look through both the Topic Leadership Guide and the CAP Process Archive, to get an idea of what will be expected of you, if you are selected to be the Topic Leader or TLT member.

This thread is strictly for candidacy posts and posts supporting those candidates. Please stay on topic. Below are the guidelines for posting in this thread:
  • Candidates will benefit from highlighting their active involvement throughout the duration of a recent CAP project. Involvement in multiple CAP projects is strongly preferred.
  • Do not suggest other people. If you want you encourage someone else to run, then send them a PM or talk to them on the PS! CAP chatroom or the CAP Discord channel.
  • If you are new to the CAP project, do not sign up in this thread. Instead, spend a project or two lurking, learning, and participating first.
  • Include a summary of your involvement in the CAP project.
  • Make a pitch for why you should be selected. If you can't present and defend yourself, then you can't expect to lead a project whose primary function is discussion and debate. Convince us that you are a good choice.
  • Even if you don't think you are better qualified than certain other candidates, you still should consider posting your application. Candidates not selected as TL or TLT for this project will be on the watch list for next time around. Don't post your name if you don't intend to be active in the project, even if you are not selected, since people will be scrutinizing your involvement more closely.
  • Feel free to post support for any candidates already named.
  • Do not post disparaging remarks about any candidates.
If these rules are not followed, the offending user will be subject to moderation.

Applications will close on Friday, August 23rd at 11:59PM GMT-4.

Hey all, I'm Earthflax and I'll start it off and throw my hat in the ring for TLT, with preferences being Ability > Typing > Movepool > Stats.

To put it simply, I started following CAP for the flavor side of things and started contributing for the competitive side. I've been lurking this project since SM was the current generation but I started contributing meaningfully around the tail end of Chromera's process. Those who were involved with Venomicon will know me as the Rattled enjoyer, which admittedly ashames me to an extent; this process was a great experience, not necessarily because the process itself was fun the whole time, but because I learned to be more assured in my thoughts and less apprehensive about throwing out my ideas. Fast forward to Chuggalong: In CAP34's process I participated extensively, particularly in the Ability and Movepool stages, both on and off of forums. Most recently, I participated in the buff process for Kitsunoh and my buff package was sleected for slate and won the polls. In my opinion, I am both capable of taking and ready to take a larger role in the process.

I'm well-versed in the competitive side of things as well; I was recently part of the Storming Saharajas in CAPPL, and I am currently in Winners Top 8 of CAP Summer Seasonal, and hope to go further. Within CAP I have taken some part in almost everything that the metagame has to offer between SS and SV, including C&C :weavile:. Outside of CAP I dabble in tiers and gens of all sorts, from BSS to Natdex to Doubles. I'd like to believe this wide range of experiences has rounded out my general understanding of the fundamentals of competitive Pokemon.

Best of luck to all and here's to a great CAP35.

Hello everyone, I'm back once again to give another run for TL or TLT a shot! If TLT, I'd prefer not-Stats, but that's a minor preference and I'd be more than okay picking that up.

My last experience in CAP process leadership was very recent, being Chuggalong's Moves section leader. Before that, I was Jumbao's Typing leader, Chromera's Moves leader, and Topic Leader for Equilibra in SM and Saharaja in SS. I've been a part of the community for a long time now, first participating in Kerfluffle's process at the tail end of ORAS. Over my years in CAP I've been a part of many different councils, viability rankings, and other projects, alongside being a CAP mod for a good chunk of time now.

My metagame knowledge is strong and I put a lot of time into watching replays, playing tests and catching up with different trends. I'm currently still in the Summer Seasonal for this year and although my SV results have not been on the same level as my results from SS, I'd still like to think my positions on the metagame council, viability rankings and newly-founded teambuilding lab showcase that I'm in tune well with the current CAP metagame. Additionally, I've managed three different CAPPL teams to championships, which I think showcases both an ability to lead well and metagame awareness over time.

I'd like to think my leadership resume and experience is high both in quality and quantity, and if elected to any position I hope to replicate the successes I've had in past projects. There's a lot of interesting ideas I'm excited to hear over the course of the next process from whatever role I find myself in, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing what sort of journey we find ourselves on, and having a great deal of fun along the way. Thank y'all for listening!!

Hey there! My name is kenn and I am here to apply for TL or TLT with a preference to anything but stats.

For those that don't know me, I came in super early this gen and hit the ground running with Hemogoblin's typing stage, going so far as to get on the slate with my first ever suggestion. From there, I have been nothing but involved with all things CAP such as being Ability Leader for both Cresceidon's and Chuggalong's processes. I even recently just got promoted to Room Owner of the CAP room on PS! (still in shock about this tbh) and I have great plans for the room and the users that frequent it.

I would say my metagame knowledge is fairly strong having been on the winning team, the Vengeful Venomicons, from last year's CAPPL IX (1-0 baby!), as well as just having recently started up a teambuilding lab to hopefully get more people into the actual CAP metagame by building and providing teams for those that put in their requests! While I don't participate in tours much (mainly due to being a dad to Larvitar and Tyrunt + work), I do consistently try to involve myself in some way whether that be watching replays from major tours or even going so far as to learn other past metagames such as SM from the great bald user SHSP himself.

I will say that while my time here has been on the shorter side, I am amply prepared to take on the duties of TL (or TLT for the 3rd time) and showcase not only my knowledge of the CAP metagame, but also of how the process can be inviting to some of the fresh faces that I have seen in recent months should they be thinking about participating this go-around. Either way, CAP 35 is gonna be a fun one and I am excited to see all the sign-ups that we will get for TL/TLT and happy to help any new faces that this may be their first process participating in! <3

Hello everybody, my name is Gekokeso, and will be putting my name in the hat for TLT, with the preference being Typing > Ability > Movepool > Stats. I have been lurking the CAP subforum since the very beginning of SS, participating in all CAP processes since Astrolotl as well as additional events such as the Isle of Armor tutor move additions and other buff processes, both in the smogon forums and in the discord. The last process' concept, "Collector's edition", was submitted by me, and I have been very active within the competitive scene since the very start of the year, being a support slot for the Skwovets and a player for the Heartbreaker Hemogoblins, a team that reached the finals of the CAPPL tournament. Those who played with me can vouch for the fact that I would often provide support for nearly every tier that needed it, be it ORAS, SV, SS among others.

Outside CAP I might not be the best battler, but I am very active in the Pet Mods scene, a subforum entirely dedicated to metas when some Pokémon are buffed or some are made from scratch, so I at least have enough experience with what a meta tends to need or want, and what leads to a new Pokémon sucessfully integrating to a metagame.

Should I be selected as TLT I promise to be extremely active and lead conversation in a fruitful manner, as well as taking the community's input in order to create a project that leads to a project that the community can enjoy. Thanks for reading my pitch.

I am applying for TL or TLT; if TLT, I would prefer typing or stats.

I recently served as Buff Leader for Kitsunoh. I have been on Smogon for nearly 15 years now and have intermittently engaged with CAP since Colossoil's process. Yes, I am old.

As TL, my philosophy for CAP35 after the successfully viable Hemogoblin, Cresceidon, and Chuggalong is going to be different. I do not have an interest in making a Pokemon that is going to challenge the existing metagame or redefine team structures around it. Instead, I would like to lead a project where we the goal is less tied to the final products viability, but more to its unique identity and exploration of obscure mechanics or gameplay elements. For CAP35, I would like us to dip our toes in unfamiliar waters and accept ideas that are normally shot down as "gimmicky" or "underpowered."

As a member of the TLT, my goal would be to best execute our community's consensus of how we should go about our project's concept, and to help establish a clear and defined vision for CAP35.

I hope you consider me for this project, thank you for reading.

Hello, I'm Da Pizza Man, and I'm applying for TLT with my preference being towards Stats, but I would honestly be fine with any role.

I've been around for quite awhile at this point, as I started lurking during Malaconda's process and started participating during Volkraken's process, taking part in every single ORAS CAP Process except Kerfluffle, and later coming back during the tail end of Chromera's process and participating in every process since. In terms of my what I've accomplished in the process so far, I have previously served on the TLT as the Stats Leader for Cresceidon's process, submitted the winning Stat Spread for Venomicon-Prologue and the 2nd place Stat Spread for Chuggalong, was a pivotal player in determining the stat limits for Hemogoblin, and successfully campaigned to get Heatproof on the poll for Saharaja's secondary ability. I have been acting a moderator in both the CAP PS! Room and the CAP Discord Server for several months at this point, and have hosted numerous mini projects on the forums such as the 2023 CAP Awards and SV CAP's rendition of Victim of the Week.

In terms of my metagame experience, I would say that I have a fair amount even if I don't really rate myself as the strongest player out there. Over the past year, alongside Concept, I have managed the Shoenice Skwovets and the Caribolters for CAPCLIII and CAPPLX respectively, going undefeated and eventually winning in the former tournament (Unfortunately we didn't do too great in CAPPL, but can't win them all I guess). In terms of my more personal accomplishments, I have recently made Top 4 in this year's CAP Winter Seasonal, have hosted numerous tournaments (Such as the aforementioned 2024 Winter Seasonal, the CAP32 Playtest, the CAP33 Playtest, and the SV CAP Rigged Tournament), and have qualified for the circuit championship in both 2022 and 2023. I have also been an active member of CAP's C&C QC Team for over a year now, and have gotten a promotion to CAP C&C Moderator over the weekend, and I am currently leading a charge to breath new life into the section after a few months of inactivity. Outside of CAP, I don't play too often, but I have notably made Top 16 during the first RBY 7U tournament, was on the winning team for TPPL V, and provided support for the CAP + 1v1 team in this year's edition of PSPL.

I believe that I am more than capable of performing a good job in whatever role I am put on in the TLT should I be selected, as I have already shown during my previous tenure. Regardless of whether or not I am picked though, I personally believe that this project is going to be in good hands just based on the signups we have already, and I am super excited for what the distant future holds. Godspeed!

HRRRRRRRRGH I AM AUSMA SMOGON!!! I WANT TLT!!! For TLT, I'll take anything besides stats.

In all seriousness, I've built a fairly solid contribution profile when it comes to CAP at this rate. I've been the TL for Cresceidon, which imo was an immensely smooth and well-railroaded process, TLT for Chuggalong, and an active contributor in Saharaja and Hemogoblin's processes. I am an experienced leading figure as well as an open-minded thinker/worker who is willing to take in unique perspectives. I am also a member of the OU council, so I'd like to think I have some experience when it comes to tiering and metagame analysis. Below are some of my favorite posts from the earlier processes:

My contributions to Saharaja:
Movesets
Typing 1
Typing 2
Concept Assessment
Stat Submission
Primary Ability

My contributions to Hemogoblin:
Concept Assessment 1
Concept Assessment 2
Typing Discussion 1
Typing Discussion 2
Primary Ability 1
Stat Submission
Defining Moves

Good luck getting rid of me.

o/ I'm Meta-Knight (better known as Spammernoob). I am applying for TLT as Stats Leader (hopefully I have better chances since no one else wants this LOL).

I have only been active in the CAP community since February, but I have been pretty active in the PS! room, Discord, and in CAP tournaments. Notably, I was top 6 in CAP Winter Seasonal, won the Chuggalong Playtest, and am currently hosting the CAP Summer Seasonal. In the CAP PS! room, I have hosted Tour Nights, and participated in room tours (I think I was first place on leaderboard for a month or 2). I think this demonstrates that I have good knowledge of the CAP metagame.

Chuggalong was the first process I actively followed (I was around for Volkraken, Naviathan, and Plasmanta, but didn't pay much attention). I will admit that I have not been particularly active on the CAP forums, but I plan to change that. I have started by joining the CAP Teambuilding Lab, and also writing up a VR update slate. If I am selected for TLT, I will study Stats stages from past processes to ensure that I properly fulfill my role as part of the TLT. Even if I am not selected, I will try my best to contribute to the CAP35 process in discussions (and possibly submissions).

Hello everyone! My name is StarFalcon555, or Starf for short, and I'm going to be throwing my hat into the ring for TLT, specifically for Typing or Ability.

I first discovered CAP about halfway through Astrolotl's process and immediately fell in love with the process and the unique results that came from it. I lurked through the remainder of Astrolotl's process and throughout the entirety of Miasmaw's process before finally getting an account and starting to contribute to CAP at the beginning of Chromera's process. I've been involved in every CAP process since then, contributing in varying amounts, and am finally ready to dip my toes into trying my luck at becoming TLT. My biggest accomplishments throughout the CAP process so far have been submitting the runner-up typing submission for Venomicon, submitting the 3rd place stat spread for Cresceidon, and successfully campaigning to get Slow Start chosen as one of Chuggalong's flavor abilities. Though I haven't participated in any tournaments, I still have an solid grasp on the metagame due to my experiences participating in the process, and have recently started to dip my toes into CAP C&C. Outside of CAP, I am most active in UU, being a prolific analysis writer (all of which can be found in my signature) and an active community participant, moderating one of the largest fan servers dedicated to competitive Pokemon, PIA. These experiences have given me a solid grasp on leadership, tiering knowledge, and metagame analysis. As a TLT, I would provide a solid balance of creativity and understanding, aiming to create a final result that is both unique and viable competitively.

I wish nothing but the best of luck to everyone else who's signed up! Let's make CAP 35 a great one! :blobnom:

What do CAP TL and TLT members drink?
A CAPpuccino!:snom:

I am Samirsin and I will be running for TLT! In order Ability>Typing>Movepool>Stats. I am a person committed to CAP that wants to give you the best experience while creating our new baby! I love flavor stages, but competitive ones too!

I will study what we need, I'll hear what you have to say and I will make this the best CAP ever made woooooo!

I am Binacle Pinnacle, running for TLT on any position, but preferably stats or movepool.

I’ve been aware of the process since Naviathan, but joined during Astrolotl’s 1.0 release. I played Gen 8 CAP extensively but admittedly slowed down during Gen 9, though I do spectate tournament games often. I have some experience leading a CAP-related project, being the Tier Leader of DPP CAP and being partially responsible for the nerfs given to Revenankh and Krilowatt in the same gen. I was also slated during the stat submission phase twice (CAP30I and CAP32). In terms of competitive placements, I made finals tiebreakers in last CAPCL with the Nefarious Nohfaces and made playoffs with the Golden Time Equilibras. I was also on the Astros during CAP snake draft :worrywhirl:. Outside of CAP, I was a part of the OM Mashups subroom since its inception and helped develop quite a few of their metagames during G7/8, and made OMPL finals this year as AAA support with the Soul-Stealing-Seven-Star Solgaleos.

I’m very interested in exploring how we can navigate a CAP process in SV’s more volatile environment. I wish the best of luck to the other applicants.
