Typical... the Pokémon Direct is in the middle of the night. Now well, if I get up decently early on Wednesday, I might still catch some of the discussion before everything is over-speculated (kinda like the types of Chespin/Fennekin/Froakie: everything that could be said about the subject was said within a few hours of the announcement). Nintendo might also have other positive "surprises" coming, but not beyond a certain point. Over the years, we've learned what to expect from them; we know that Mario platformers and LoZ will be coming, sure as sunrise. People aren't excited for the concept of SSB any more, it's more about how SSB will be and who will be in it.
As for the other companies, I say "Meh". It's "win or vanish" from EA: Unless they surprise us with something good (SWBF3, thank you very much), they're digging their own grave there. If they keep making uninspired sequels (CoD 14 or wherever they are now), or terrible "reboots" (SimCity, C&C), all riddled with draconian DRM and simplified to appeal to the casual market, they will eventually have to downsize or go bust.
Microsoft has one heck of a marketing job ahead of them. Their vision for the XBox is clearly not aligned with the wishes of the customer base. People can watch TV without the aid of a several-hundred-dollar box, and the mandatory Kinect smells trouble. People have also realized that the most efficient way to watch TV or movies without Microsoft's ever-looking eyes, is to not buy the XBox and instead keep using whatever they do at the moment. They also realize that the other consoles offer gaming without having to connect to the Internet. From what we know at the moment, there seems to be more downsides than upsides to buying an XBox One.
Sony is sailing with tailwind. They offer a top-of-the-shelf game console, and that's it so far. No focus on television rather than gaming, no cameras watching you, no mandatory Internet connection, free Online play, everything that has been said so far has been satisfactory enough. Perhaps they'll break a little more "bad news" about their console, but if they don't, they can keep surfing the wave of goodwill.
