Fusion Evolution

Status
Not open for further replies.
Yeah we're voting for one mon to replace Beegon. So the five winners, Weasol, Tyranichomp, Charatos, Railie, Aggrosaur cannot be voted for anymore, along with any Beedrill fusions. We should probably get that mentioned in the OP tbh.

Edit: It's 12 AM my time, I believe a day has passed since the revoting started, so voting's closed. I'll post the winner soon.

So, the winner of this voting period, and the replacement for the overpowered Beegon is...

greninja.gif

Parents: Blastoise + Greninja
Shared egg group: Water 1
Offspring name: Blastinja
New type: Water
New base stats: 85/99/93/104/98/110
New ability and desc: Torrent
Notable moves: Aqua Jet, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Earthquake, Flash Cannon, Ice Beam, Hydro Pump, Scald, Water Pulse, Power Up Punch, Roar, Water Spout, Waterfall, Extrasensory, Grass Knot, Gunk Shot, Ice Punch, Low Kick, Night Slash, Shadow Sneak, Water Shuriken, Taunt, U-trun
Role identification: Blastinja is quite interesting in the fact that it gets both Spikes, Rapid Spin, but not Stealth Rock - however, it has a wide offensive movepool to use on both sides. The stats are okay in this form, but it's when it megas that it is the real threat...

Mega Blastinja:
Parents: Blastoise + Greninja
Shared egg group: *MEGA
Offspring name: Blastinja
New type: Water
New base stats: 85/119/113/154/108/110
New ability and desc: Mega Launcher
Notable moves: Aqua Jet, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Earthquake, Flash Cannon, Ice Beam, Hydro Pump, Scald, Water Pulse, Power Up Punch, Roar, Water Spout, Waterfall, Extrasensory, Grass Knot, Gunk Shot, Ice Punch, Low Kick, Night Slash, Shadow Sneak, Water Shuriken, Taunt, U-trun
Role identification: 154 SpA, and 110 Speed. With Mega Launcher. That's all you need to know. It's basically an offensive variant of Mega Blastoise, hits way harder though, has hazards, can viably run physical moves for breaking special moves, it can spin freely without worrying about ghosts due to Dark Pulse, although it loses stab on it. All in all, a pretty good mon.

Things to do:
  1. Feel free to continue the previous discussion, now including Blastinja.
  2. As requested, we will now decide on the status of Armor Cast, the ability of Hawlusharp. Should it raise stats by +1/+1 or +2/+2? Is it a suspect?
  3. As per the norm, make sets for the fusions available, discuss their synergy with each other, how they fare in regular OU, or vs fusions from the previous slates, etc.

Tagging Eevee General to replace Beegon in his post with Blastinja so that Uselesscrab can update the OP with the new fusions.

So I'm going to repost some of the reasons why I believe that Armour Cast should be nerfed to +1/+1 (originally from here http://www.smogon.com/forums/thread...o-replace-beegon.3540976/page-14#post-6291844)

-Easy to activate either by being hit by Knock Off or by using an item you know will activate, similar to those used by Unburden, such as Sitrus berry, Red Card, or Normal Gem.
-Knock Off is a common move and one that Hawlusharp can take easily thanks to its x4 resistance.
-Equivalent to 2 Dragon Dances, boosting Hawlusharp to the point where the defence drops are irrelevant as Hawlusharp can simple outspeed and OHKO pretty much everything. (Obviously Pokemon with Mach Punch or stuff like Talonflame would be removed by Hawlusharp's team mates before it would try to sweep.
-Even if some priority using Pokemon remain, Sucker Punch allows Hawlusharp to outspeed them anyway and likely OHKO with a +2, STAB 80 BP moves off a base 118 Atk (which would be 736 at +2 with an Adamant Nature).

Reducing Armor Cast to +1/+1 still makes it extremely threatening, but to nowhere near the extent that is does now.

I think Armor Cast is now +2/+2 to Attack/Speed, but -1/-1 to defenses. Imo, make it +1/+1 to Attack/Speed but remove the Defenses drops. I don't want it to keep the defense drops after getting nerfed.

I'm gonna say +1/+1 is already pretty badass. Any higher--even with a drawback like -1 somewhere--is too good.

Anyway, let's open up another round of submissions! I know we just got Blastinja settled, so if you want to talk about it still that's fine.

This round is the same as usual. You can make more megas. 5 fusion cap (megas don't count toward cap.)

I'm super excited about this one!

Parents: Skarmory + Altaria
Shared egg group: Flying
Offspring name: Skaria
New type: Dragon/Steel
New base stats: 80/85/125/65/97/85 (BST: 537)
New ability and desc: Sturdy + Natural Cure = Pristine: Cannot be OHKOed. Immune to major status conditions if its HP is full.
Notable moves: Stealth Rock, Spikes, Defog, Roost, Heal Bell, Whirlwind, Haze, Taunt, Dragon Claw, Iron Head, Toxic, Feather Dance
Role identification: What we have here is a very tenacious and very versatile support Pokemon. It's blessed with a fantastic defensive typing, all the support options it could possibly ask for, and an ability that protects it from status moves if it comes in fresh. On a stat- related note, according to my calcs, Skaria has roughly as much physical bulk as Skarmory and as much special bulk as Altaria. It really is a prime example of combining the best of both parents. Of course, if you want to take it up a notch...

Parents: [MEGA]
Shared egg group: [MEGA]
Offspring name: Mega Skaria
New type: Dragon/Fairy
New base stats: 80/125/145/105/97/85 (BST: 637)
New ability and desc: Pristine --> Pixilate
Notable moves: Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, Cotton Guard, Return, Hyper Voice, Hone Claws, Iron Tail, Heal Bell, Roost, Taunt, Earthquake, Fire Blast, Agility/Autotomize
Role identification: This guy works pretty much the same as Mega Altaria, except it's bulkier and faster, making it much more difficult to revenge kill. You thought Mega Altaria was dangerous? Mega Skaria has access to both Dragon Dance and Swords Dance.

Parents: Manectric + Houndoom
Shared egg group: Field
Offspring name: Mandoom
New type: Electric / Dark
New base stats: 82/92/65/117/80/110
New ability and desc: Fire Rod: This Pokemon draws Fire moves to itself to raise Sp. Atk by 1; Fire immunity.
Notable moves: Volt Switch, Dark Pulse, Fire Blast, Taunt, Nasty Plot, Destiny Bond, Will-o-Wisp, Sucker Punch, Pursuit
Role identification: A very potent Pokemon on its own with a unique typing - Mandoom is quite a threat. It sits at the ideal speed stat of 110, and has a usable 117 SpA. It's STAB combination, along with its coverage and decent special bulk make it an ideal Nasty Plotter. It's ability also gives it immunity to Fire-type moves, making it very powerful against fire foes. Another option for it is a stall breaker - it does have access to Taunt and Wisp, which is annoying for Stall. It can even run a mixed set, although the only real notable move is Sucker Punch and Pursuit. However, what makes Mandoom a really scary Pokemon is the fact that it can Mega Evolve!

Parents: Manectric + Houndoom
Shared egg group: [MANECITE MEGA]
Offspring name: Mega Mandoom M
New type: Electric / Dark
New base stats: 82/92/85/147/100/140
New ability and desc: Intimidate
Notable moves: Volt Switch, Dark Pulse, Fire Blast, Taunt, Nasty Plot, Destiny Bond, Will-o-Wisp, Sucker Punch, Pursuit
Role identification: This is basically a better version of normal Mega Manectric (sort of) - 2 STABs and better speed, power, bulk, and coverage. Intimidate is still an amazing ability, letting it run 2 different sets - it can either run a similar set to Mega Manectric and abuse its ability with Volt Switch and good coverage. It's other options is to take inspiration from Gyarados - use Intimidate and its decent bulk to set-up and sweep. 140 speed means it probably doesn't need to boost its speed anytime soon - only a scarfer can hope to revenge kill you. It can also run the stall breaker set that Mandoom can thanks to Wisp and Taunt. Overall a solid mon.

Parents: Manectric + Houndoom
Shared egg group: [HOUNDOOMITE MEGA]
Offspring name: Mega Mandoom H
New type: Electric / Dark
New base stats: 82/92/105/147/90/130
New ability and desc: Solar Power
Notable moves: Volt Switch, Dark Pulse, Fire Blast, Taunt, Nasty Plot, Destiny Bond, Will-o-Wisp, Sucker Punch, Pursuit
Role identification: This mega might seem very outclasses compared to Mega Mandoom M outside of Sun Teams. However, it does have one primary thing setting it apart from it's other forme - it's a much more reliable Bisharp check, due to its higher natural Defense and the fact that it can directly switch into it without having to deal with +1 Bisharp. This, along with Wisp and Fire Blast, make it a very solid Bisharp check. In other words, it's an option to consider on Bisharp weak teams, as outside of Intimidate, a lower speed tier (130 is still really good), and a shift in bulk, it's basically the same Pokemon. However, if you can handle Bisharp and are not a Sun Team - stick to Mega Mandoom M.

Offspring name: Loppunape
New type: Fire/Normal
New base stats: 80/100/87/89/93/116 (BST: 565)
New ability and desc: Blaze + Cute Charm = Tinder: Fire- type moves have an added 30% chance of causing infatuation
Notable moves: Swords Dance, Return, Flare Blitz, Fire Blast, Elemental Punches, Slack Off, Taunt, Will-o-Wisp, Close Combat, High Jump Kick, Mach Punch, Low Kick, Encore, Nasty Plot, Calm Mind, Bulk Up, Agility, Baton Pass, Stealth Rock, U-Turn, Hone Claws, Earthquake, Power-Up Punch, Stone Edge, Focus Blast, Vacuum Wave, Gunk Shot, Grass Knot, Healing Wish, Endeavor, holy GUAC this thing's movepool is crazy diverse
Role identification: It has reasonable offensive stats and just enough bulk to run a decent defensive set. Defensive Support Infernape seems to be all the rage in OU now, and this fusion looks like it could do that job even better. But let's be real here, you're just gonna Mega Evolve it...

Parents: [MEGA]
Shared egg group: [MEGA]
Offspring name: Mega Loppunape
New type: Fire/Fighting
New base stats: 80/160/97/89/93/146 (BST: 665)
New ability and desc: Tinder --> Scrappy
Notable moves: Swords Dance, Return, Flare Blitz, Fire Blast, Elemental Punches, Slack Off, Taunt, Will-o-Wisp, Close Combat, High Jump Kick, Mach Punch, Low Kick, Encore, Nasty Plot, Calm Mind, Bulk Up, Agility, Baton Pass, Stealth Rock, U-Turn, Hone Claws, Earthquake, Power-Up Punch, Stone Edge, Focus Blast, Vacuum Wave, Gunk Shot, Grass Knot, Healing Wish, Endeavor...
Role identification: There's like a million different things you can do with Mega Lopunnape. An offensive set is the most obvious and straightforward option, given its obscene Attack stat, blazing Speed and fantastic ability. It lacks Mega Lopunny's perfect neutral STAB coverage, but it has far greater super effective STAB coverage, so make of that what you will.

That being said, a defensive set is also viable. It's decently bulky, and it has access to a lot of support options (see above), including reliable recovery in the form of Slack Off. It also has the ability to Baton Pass just about anything, given its access to Swords Dance, Nasty Plot, Bulk Up, Calm Mind and Agility.

Or, give yourself a Stealth Rock lead and use it in conjunction with Taunt and Endeavor. The possibilities are just endless.

Shared egg group: Water 1
Offspring name: Blasterain
New type: Water/Bug
New base stats: 84/81/91/92/103/79 (BST: 530)
New ability and desc: Torrent + Intimidate = Sea Monster: Lowers opponent's attack one stage upon switching in. Water-type attacks are boosted 10%.
Notable moves: Rapid Spin, Defog, Sticky Web, Scald, Bug Buzz, Roar/Whirlwind, Roost, Hydro Pump, Quiver Dance, Giga Drain, Baton Pass, Infestation, U-Turn, Stun Spore, Tailwind
Role identification: Here's the funny thing about Blasterain: it has the exact same BST as Blastoise. Literally.

So if it doesn't gain much stat-wise, what does it gain from fusing? The answer, of course, is movepool. Blasterain is actually a pretty tight support mon, with access to both Sticky Web and Rapid Spin, reliable recovery (Roost), U-Turn to preserve momentum, and Infestation for trapping purposes. It also has a pretty tight defensive typing; it gains a weakness to SR with the addition of a Bug type, but it also gains useful resistances to Fighting and Ground, two omnipresent offensive types.

But Blasterain's true appeal comes from its sweeping set, and if you want that, you're better off mega evolving it...

Parents: [MEGA]
Shared egg group: [MEGA]
Offspring name: Mega Blasterain
New type: Water/Bug
New base stats: 84/101/111/142/113/79 (BST: 630)
New ability and desc: Sea Monster --> Mega Launcher
Notable moves: Rapid Spin, Defog, Sticky Web, Scald, Bug Buzz, Roar/Whirlwind, Roost, Hydro Pump, Surf, Quiver Dance, Giga Drain, Baton Pass, Infestation, U-Turn, Stun Spore, Tailwind, Energy Ball, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Ice Beam
Role identification: This is where Blasterain really shines. It has a hefty 142 SpA stat, a solid defensive spread of 84/111/113, and a pretty good defensive typing. All perfect ingredients for a Quiver Dance set.

Unfortunately, as of the new Baton Pass clause, passing Quiver Dance is no longer an option, but that's okay, because Blasterain has more than enough power to finish the job itself. Your standard set is probably going to include Quiver Dance, Roost, Scald And Bug Buzz; combined, these moves will make Blasterain very difficult to revenge kill once it starts dancing. Scald will burn any incoming physical attacker, and Quiver Dance already boosts its Special Defense.

They're so different, and yet they harmonize so well. Blastoise x Masquerain OTP.

New ability and desc: Sandy Cure - Cures any major status ailment after each turn during sand, and prevents sandstorm damage
Notable moves: Volt Switch, Draco Meteor, Thunderbolt, Fire Blast, Focus Blast, Surf, Energy Ball, Roost
Role identification: Not a very strong pokemon on it's own - Altarisk is a not very fast or powerful special attacker, it's best stat being SpDef. I can't really defend Altarisk here - it's basically a means to a very important ends to me, which is...

Notable moves: Volt Switch, Hyper Voice, Thunderbolt, Fire Blast, Focus Blast, Surf, Energy Ball, Roost, Dragon Dance, Earthquake, Return, Wild Charge
Role identification: ...a powerful and decently bulky Electric / Fairy! Electric / Fairy is such a cool typing, and Mega Altarisk is a cool Mega. Dragon Dance sets is viable, as it is stronger and faster than normal Mega Altaria, but it's special set cannot be ignored. It sports a meaty 139 SpA and Pixilate Hyper Voice for its STAB move. Even a defensive set is semi-viable. Overall a cool mon with a lovely type (I really like Electric / Fairy :p )

Notable moves: Swords Dance, Roost, Double-Edge, Close Combat, Bulk Up, Earthquake, Quick Attack, Stone Edge, U-turn, Knock Off, Stealth Rock.
Role identification: The main purpose of this is to Swords Dance first turn while getting a +1 Speed boost, then megaevo next turn. Also, it has Roost and Bulk Up this time, so it's possible if you want to run a bulky set with Bulk up + Roost.

Shared egg group: Monster
Offspring Name: Venusnore
New type: grass/normal
New base stats: 130/106/84/92/115/65 (BST 592 )
New ability and desc: Thick Overgrowth (thick fat + overgrow)
A pokemon with this ability takes half damage from fire and ice type moves. Also, grass type moves are 1.5x power when this pokemon has 1/3 health or less.
Notable Moves: curse, synthesis, leech seed, toxic, power whip, seed bomb, light screen, earthquake, crunch, facade, ice punch, power-up punch, belly drum, gunk shot
Role identification: Venusnore is bulky af. This is finally a snorlax with some physical defense, reliable recovery, and an immunity to seeds - not to mention his neutrality to ice and fire thanks to his ability covering two of the unfortunately many new defensive weaknesses added by grass. My favorite set on him would be the basic curselax, but since it now gets synthesis, there is no need for rest talk or resto chesto. You get an extra move slot for leech seed or for coverage (or that new stab in power whip/seed bomb), and an open item slot for lefties or a mega stone (the latter of which is really the main point of venusnore). Venusnore can also set down a light screen (never did see reflect there), and finally, if you really wanted to, there's ingrain :/

Mega:
Mega venusnore (venusaurite)
Offspring Name:
mega venusnore
New type: normal/grass
New base stats: 130/124/124/114/135/65 (BST 692 )
New ability and desc: thick fat
Notable Moves: same as before, more emphasis can now be placed on attacking prowess, and his special movepool opens up - namely giga drain, ice beam, grass knot, psychic, and growth
Role identification: Mostly the same as before except his special movepool and growth become more viable. Also 130/124/135 bulk is likely to piss people off especially with synthesis and a decent stallmon movepool.

I feel like this has been done, but at the same time I don't recall it. Either way, have Skarmory + Noivern

Parents:
Skarmory + Noivern
Shared egg group: Flying
Offspring name: Noimory
New type: Steel / Flying
New base stats: 85/85/120/78/85/106
New ability and desc: Armored Ninja - Sturdy + Infiltrator
Notable moves: Roost, Taunt, Stealth Rocks, Brave Bird, Spikes, Hurricane, Fire Blast, Swords Dance
Role identification: It's basically the only other Steel / Flying allowed due to Noivern being the only mon with primary flying (outside of it's prevo), and Skarmory being the only Steel-type mon in the Flying Egg Group. It's bulk is very solid - 85/120/85 give it a good physical defense while having a usable special defense, and it's typing is godlike. What separates Skarmory from Noimory is Noimory's speed - 106 is a pretty solid speed tier to be in, although short of 108. It has a usable 85 attack as well, which I guess can be used for an SD set (I don't think that's very good though). It's new speed and decent bulk make it a very solid option as a more offensive Steel / Flying that can still use its typing defensively. It's a pretty cool mon imho.

Parents: Gastrodon / Castform
Shared Egg Group: Amorphous
Offspring Name: Gastform
New Type: Water / Normal
New Base stats: 101 / 86 / 79 / 91 / 86 / 64
New Ability and Desc: Storm Cast- Summons Rain for 5 turns and is immune to water moves.
Notable Moves: Hydro Pump, Weather Ball, Earth Power, Ice Beam, Hurricane, Thunder, Cosmic Power, Recover, Scald, Energy Ball, Memento, Tailwind
Role Identification: With sand teams being popular, and hail teams getting more flexible, we needed some sort of way to make a drizzle-based ability in fusionmons. Thankfully these pokemon fit the flavor (and name!). Stat-wise, Gastform is more physically defensive, and stronger than politoed, but it is weaker in special defense and slower. Gastform's plethora of moves make it a quite a pain to deal with. On the offensive side, we got perfect accuracy Thunder AND Hurricane, we also got weather ball and hydro pump to rip chunks. One can also take the supportive route by using gems such as Recover, Scald, or Tailwind. Rain teams have something new to work off of besides politoed. What holds it back from being a fearsome sweeper is its poor speed and underwhelming special attack. It will often move last and its unstab coverage won't be too strong unless you have choice specs. But then again you need damp rock for the rain. Also its fire moves are put out by its own ability.

Here's my second one. Still want to add to the weather war :3

Parents: Cherrim / Castform
Shared Egg Group: Fairy
Offspring Name: Cherform
New Type: Grass / Normal
New Base Stats: 80 / 75 / 80 / 88 / 84/ 87
New Ability and Desc: Flower Cast- Summons sun for 5 turns and changes form with the weather except for sandstorm.
Notable Moves: Solarbeam, Fire Blast, Weather Ball, Synthesis, Aromatherapy, Energy Ball, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Cosmic Power, Tailwind, Thunder Wave
Role Identification: A sun setter for the sun fusionmons. Cherform's normal typing changes upon the weather, and since it auto summons sun, it is a grass/fire. Its stats are pretty subpar, but it is faster than its rainy counterpart and synthesis should usually heal more than recover. Stab sun fueled fire blast can be quite destructive, but it suffers from item space, and its low special attack. Iirc, switching it out will make it grass / normal again, so it doesn't have a SR weakness.

Parents: Archeops / Altaria
Shared egg group: Flying
Offspring name: Aria
New type: Rock / Dragon
New base stats: 85 / 115 / 87 / 106 / 95 / 105
New ability and desc: Mentally Frail (Defeatist + Natural Cure) - Reduce Attack and Special Attack by two stages if affected by major status condition.
Notable moves: Dragon Dance, Head Smash, Double Edge, Quick Attack, Roost, Return, Earthquake, Focus Blast, Hyper Voice, Fire Blast, Knock Off, Stealth Rock, Earth Power, Taunt, U-turn, Heal Bell, Cotton Guard, Heat Wave, Ice Beam
Role identification: This poke is meant to be mega as soon as possible. One big weakness this thing has is Toxic Spikes. If there is Toxic Spikes on your side of the field before this mega evolves, this poke will likely be useless. So you need a defog support for this. It also can't switch in to random status inducers.

Parents: Archeops / Altaria
Shared egg group: Flying
Offspring name: (Altarianite)
New type: Rock / Fairy
New base stats: 85 / 155 / 107 / 146 / 95 / 105
New ability and desc: Pixilate
Notable moves: Dragon Dance, Head Smash, Double Edge, Quick Attack, Roost, Return, Earthquake, Focus Blast, Hyper Voice, Fire Blast, Knock Off, Stealth Rock, Earth Power, Taunt, U-turn, Heal Bell, Cotton Guard, Heat Wave, Ice Beam
Role identification: Much higher Attack and Special Attack. It's meant to sweep unless it got affected by a major status condition pre mega. Much wider movepool too. The most powerful STABs of this is Head Smash + Double Edge, though both moves kill yourself quickly.

Yeah but it would be quite similar to Mandoom, except it would lack another mega. I'll just use it in the next slate. Let's see what we can work with here, hm.

Parents: Banette and Stunfisk
Shared egg group: Amorphous
Offspring name: Banetisk
New type: Ground/Ghost
New base stats: 96 / 100 / 84 / 92 / 91 / 58 (BST 521)
New ability and desc: Insulator (Static + Insomnia) - The user cannot be inflicted status by Electric-types.
Notable moves: Toxic, Earthquake, Stone Edge, Thunder Wave, Aqua Tail, Pain Split, Stealth Rock, Phantom Force, Knock Off, Shadow Sneak, Will-O-Wisp, Sucker Punch, Trick, Shadow Claw, Gunk Shot, Hex, Shadow Ball, Calm Mind, Thunderbolt, Psychic, Dazzling Gleam, Trick Room, Icy Wind, Foul Play, Sludge Bomb, Scald, Surf, Earth Power, Yawn
Role identification: A pokemon with decent bulk and offense on both side, only lacking in speed. It's not really powerful, but it's enough to be useful as an all-around tank and supporter.

Mega Stone: Banettite
Mega Name: Mega Banetisk
Type: Ground/Ghost
Base stats: 96 / 150 / 94 / 102 / 111 / 68 (BST 621)
Ability: Prankster
Notable moves: Toxic, Earthquake, Stone Edge, Thunder Wave, Aqua Tail, Pain Split, Stealth Rock, Phantom Force, Knock Off, Shadow Sneak, Will-O-Wisp, Sucker Punch, Taunt, Shadow Claw, Gunk Shot, Destiny Bond, Pursuit, Yawn
Role identification: With much more bulk and an actual physical movepool, it is a lot better than before, actually being able to utilize the Prankster ability for general support and as a pretty good tank.

Parents: Arbok / Scrafty
Shared egg group: Field and Dragon
Offspring name: Scrafbok
New type: Dark/Poison
New base stats: 72/97/102/65/107/79
New ability and desc: Scary Scales (Shed Skin+Intimidate) - Lowers opponent's Attack by 1 and has a 30% chance of healing status on switch in.
Notable moves: Sucker Punch, Gunk Shot, Knock Off, Ice Punch, Poison Jab, Earthquake, Fake Out, Dragon Dance, Coil, Drain Punch, Low Kick, High Jump Kick, Crunch, Aqua Tail, Seed Bomb, Iron Head, Iron Tail, Dragon Claw, Dragon Tail, Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, Stone Edge
Role identification: A really mighty statupper, with almost invincible typing that gives it only one weakness to Ground-type. It has access to STAB Sucker Punch, nasty STAB Gunk Shot, a really wide coverage and two boosting moves: Dragon Dance and Coil. So you just have to chose: if you run a Dragon Dance set it may be more fragile, but its 79 base Speed is similar to Dragonite's and Gyarados' and you can outspeed a lot of Pokemon with just one DD; on the other hand, Coil is more reliable and gives it more bulkiness and accuracy, which is good if you are using Gunk Shot. So it's up to you to choose. Talking about coverage, there are a lot of moves to hit Ground-types supereffectively, like Aqua Tail, that can allow you to hit Heatran and Talonflame, Seed Bomb, that is supereffective on Swampert, Quagsire and Gastrodon, and Ice Punch, that can hit most of Dragons and Flying-types and is the best option imho.

Second submission:

Parents: Sylveon / Torkoal
Shared egg group: Field
Offspring name: Sylkoal
New type: Fire/Fairy
New base stats: 92/85/112/107/110/50
New ability and desc: Perfume (Cute Charm+White Smoke) - user's stats cannot be lowered and being hit by a contact move may Infatuate the opponent.
Notable moves: Flamethrower, Lava Plume, Eruption, Moonblast, Earth Power, Shell Smash, Baton Pass, Stealth Rock, Rapid Spin, Wish, Heal Bell, Aromatherapy, Clean Smog, Sludge Bomb, Will-O-Wisp, Shadow Ball, Psychic, Psyshock, Calm Mind
Role identification: Well, I can see a unique typing that can perform quite a lot of roles: it can go Specs, it can be a Cleric, supporter, setter, statupper and even Baton Passer. It has a really good coverage and can cover almost all of his weaknesses (except Rock, Ground and Water), but an HP Grass can cover all of them.

Parents: Blastoise / Carracosta
Shared egg group: Water 1
Offspring name: Blastacosta
New type: Water
New base stats: 86/105/126/94/95/65
New ability and desc: Torrential Shell - This pokemon survives any hit that would one-hit-ko it, and its water attacks are boosted at 1/3 health.
Notable moves: Earth Power, Aqua Jet, Earthquake, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Water Pulse, Facade, Fake Out, Flash Cannon, Dragon Tail, Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Ice Punch, Rapid Spin, Scald, Rock Slide, Signal Beam, Waterfall, Water Spout (if you're feeling lucky), Iron Head, Knock Off, Low Kick, Rock Polish, Shell Smash, Stealth Rock, Stone Edge, Superpower,

Role identification: This poke does a good job at confusing opponents whether it will mega or not. Pre mega, you can kick off a highly powerfull Waterfall or Hydro Pump. Post mega, Mega Launcher. Ideally though, the idea is to Shell Smash and not mega, letting sturdy do all the work, and then mega evolve into...

Notable moves: Earth Power, Aqua Jet, Earthquake, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Water Pulse, Facade, Fake Out, Flash Cannon, Dragon Tail, Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Ice Punch, Rapid Spin, Scald, Rock Slide, Signal Beam, Waterfall, Water Spout (if you're feeling lucky), Iron Head, Knock Off, Low Kick, Rock Polish, Shell Smash, Stealth Rock, Stone Edge, Superpower,
Role identification: Thought Blastinja was a threat? This is similar, except Blastinja's the lightning bruiser/glass cannon variant. This has additional bulk, but what really makes up for is its access to Shell Smash, which makes it terrifying post mega. Of course, 65 speed isn't that much, but it can run aqua jet if need be. But rest assured this will be a powerful mon.
