I'm guessing none of you are actually familiar with the source material and are just following the Television series.

I'll not spoil it for you but, this is all I have to say..

You guys are on the right train of thought bet her solution is far more simpler (if not elegant) than all the armies and invasion shit y'all are coming up with.

Is this Daenerys you're talking about? If so:

Staying in that far-off-the-map dustbowl of a city and doing nothing exciting, apart from being an excellent USA-in-Afghanistan parallel?

i watched this week's episode with my roommates and they were pretty let down by the lack of action, but i really just enjoy every week because of the character development. i remember ifm and atticus telling me that jaime really grows on you in the 3rd book, and nikolaj coster-waldau is seriously nailing his role. the jaime and brienne scene in the tub was honestly emmy-worthy acting. i'm also really enjoying developments at dragonstone, since i find stannis to be an incredibly interesting character

the visual parallels between theon executing rodrik and robb executing karstark were pretty cool... maybe robb's downfall is inevitable??????

also rose leslie mmmmmmmmmmmm

I never actually found Jamie Lannister to be that much of a dick. I mean, sure he killed a few people, but compared to guys like Joffrey and Theon, this guy was a saint even in season 1. Interesting to hear about his reasons for killing the Mad King. Definitely see him losing his heel persona.

Daenerys is a badass as usual.

I'm interested in seeing how the Stannis' daughter thing develops, though by the sounds of what you guys are saying, she's not going to be very important to the storyline. Which is a shame.

Having read the books, I was kinda worried about how this season was going to turn out after the first couple of episodes, but the last two have made me a lot happier about it (although there's still a few things I don't really like). Jamie was one of my favourite characters from book 3 onwards, so I'm loving his portrayal so far.

Right now my only real complaint is...

The whole Jon going over to Mance storyline just doesn't seem that well done to me. I don't like how they've changed his motivation for doing everything, and I really don't like how the party that climbs the wall is lead by Tormund instead of the Magnar now, as I felt that the Tormund/Jon "alliance" in Dance was pretty significant. Oh well, I guess we'll see how it goes.

Also...

She's pretty insignificant at the moment, but it's hinted that she's going to become important in the next couple of books.

dude he threw a 10 year old down a tower because he saw him fucking his sister

To be fair, after Bran lost his memory, Jamie no longer wanted to kill him. Pushing Bran off the tower was more an act of self preservation than pure cruelty. Guys like Joffrey, on the other hand, are 110% douche.

because he's the manliest man around ???

i'm only half joking btw. it could also be because he feels bad and wants to punish himself subconsciously or something dumb idk.

So..why didn't Jamie want the poppy stuff? Don't understand that part.

milk of the poppy is basically the equivalent of morphine and jaime would rather go without it than risk dying from an overdose because milk of the poppy is also poisonous (at least that's how I understood it)

Jamie doesn't take milk of the poppy because George R. R. Martin is a huge fan of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the "surgery without anesthetic" scene is just one of many he's put his own take on.

You are right on that but also Jamie was afraid that the maester would cut off his entire arm while he was unconscious, from what I remember.

I don't think this wasn't explained in the episode but Shireen, Stannis's daughter, has a condition called Greyscale, where the flesh of the person becomes stiff and dies which results in the stone like appearance on her face. So to those wondering about that there is your explanation. And I think they combined her character with Patchface. Any book readers to clarify?

Yeah they didn't clarify that part at all. I thought she was like, half dragon lol.

And about the Jamie thing, I did think it was a trust issue, didn't take into account the poison risk or the fact he felt he deserved the lost hand(which I don't believe)

Now that I think about it, I've actually noticed a number of San Guo Yan Yi (I refuse to use the sad excuse that are the inaccurate English translations) parallels in the show so far, especially the Chi Bi and Blackwater scenes. So I guess that explains it lol. The scene would've been a lot more powerful if Jamie didn't scream in pain though.

Combined? Nah, they're not gonna put him in is all. I mean, if we didn't see the other guy from last season, (forgot his name, Joffrey made him gulp down wine and then he threw up in the first episode)when he was supposed to have a minor, but important role in the books, what makes anyone else think that Patchface is going to be in it?

They mixed her character with someone else, I forgot who it was who taught Davos how to read in the books.

really hate this lord of the light shit and even though its quite obvious its going to be a big part of the story, i really wish it would just fuck off. melisandre sux, big up ser davos

dude it saved beric and thoros is a straight up baller.

also shireen seems to be at least a little bit combined with patchface; she was singing one of his songs when stannis walked in. I was actually looking forward to seeing patchface, as I found his character actually quite creepy for some reason. As for teaching Davos to read, that was the Maester of Dragonstone wasn't it? idk its been a while since I read the books

I don't know if this happened in the books too (I heard Shae wasn't given too big a part there), but Tyrion is getting married to Sansa and Shae was just scolding him for saying she was pretty. That will be an interesting scene next episode.
Also, I want to see more of Varys's pet sorcerer. that being said last episode was great. Not quite as good as the previous one, maybe even two, but at some point you're debating between giving an episode a 9.7 or a 10.

Thought this was super appropriate, sharin it

Damn, poor Ros. She got her shit handed to her.

Also, for the book readers:
Bastard of Bolton, anyone?

Well fuck. Littlefinger was in that episode for about all of 2 minutes, and completely stole it. Best character in the show by far, and getting better every season. King of the ashes.

The Melisandre meeting up with Thoros segment threw me a little, but it looks like they are basically merging the Edric Storm arc with Genry's. It's a good way of keeping the actor in the show for a while longer, since he was popular, and with their roles starting and ending at similar times it makes a lot of sense. Good call imo.

That torture shit...ahhhhhhhhh.

edit;
man, that ending.. so many questions, a bit of rage..

and after looking on tumblr at spoilers, GoT wiki, and episode list this season..

damn Robb.. I now know why people say the things they do about him, and here I thought he was going to tear shit up and win.

So I'm assuming "The Rains of Castamere" episode, episode 9, will probably be the 'Red Wedding'?

Yeah I gotta admit, Littlefinger stole the episode this time; and I've never been particularly fond of his character tbh.

Poor Sansa can't seem to catch a break. Arya rules btw, the scene where Melissandre tells her she sees darkness in her was a nice bit of foreshadowing, I hope.
