General Arabian Discussion

Same. The graphics look so much nicer in MHP3rd. I'm also really happy about the improvements in the gunlance and hunting horn.

The other games I've been playing are Black Ops and Fifa 11.

Yeah, I'm glad the gunlance isn't so fucking terrible anymore, it's way too cool of a weapon to suck as hard as it does.

I've always been partial to hammers myself, but the boosts on HHs are awesome. I'm considering importing from Japan right now, but that $80+ price tag is really turning me off when I know it'll be here in only a few months.

Currently playing Red Dead Redemption and RDR Undead Nightmare. I'm at like 96.4% completion on RDR and I just started Undead Nightmare. Amazing game. Undead lacks that driving force that the story missions of RDR had but the action makes up for it. I love the ambient challenges and just how much fun stuff there is to do. I hated the random events though. Nothing is worse than trying to hunt and all of a sudden marshals coming running through chasing a prisoner and you accidentally blow their face off because they ran between your shotgun and the bear.

I just finished Dragon Age: Origins. I didn't get all the DLC and I don't see myself doing more than the one playthrough. It was a great game I just don't see the allure of a replay. Could be because I used the dupe item glitch on tomes to make my party OP for the last mission though.

I have wanted to play Luigi's mansion again for ages but I can't find it.

I'm playing the new phoenix wright game (the edgeworth one) although it was released a year ago. It's fun. Oh and Goldeneye for the wii. Also fun although I'm terrible and in game in so unrealistic it's funny (just survived a shotgun blast to the face, hid behind a corner, all wounds went away). Next up will probably be advanced wars or something.

Pokemon Red - This actually started off as an attempt to nuzlocke Crystal, and I decided to just see what all my old cartridges' save files had. Surprisingly, all of them were still intact, including my Silver file which I discovered had a nearly-complete Pokedex. All that was missing were Entei, Raikou, the Kanto legendary bird trio, and Celebi. After catching the two legendary dogs/cats/gerbils/whatever, I decided to start a Red nuzlocke instead and catch the three birds after completing it.

Nostalgia (DS) - I'd seen this game in the stores several times and I remember reading a review about it in Game Informer, so I decided to buy it with some leftover Christmas money. Not the greatest game, but it's not bad either. The story is about as cliched as you can get (young male goes on an adventure to find his famous father who has just gone missing after running into an unknown evil organization and saving a young woman who has amnesia and hidden mystical powers; your future party members include another orphaned young man who grew up in the slums and distrusts everybody and a loli witch from a nearly-extinct clan of magic-users) and doesn't play out very well, but the battle system is pretty good, if practically stolen from Final Fantasy X.

Pokemon White - I'm playing a regular run on a translated ROM, but a lot of the stuff that doesn't pertain to the main story or battles hasn't been translated and it's pissed me off to the point where I don't want to play anymore. Seriously, like half of the stuff in Raimon City hasn't been touched at all.

Donkey Kong Country Returns - Almost forgot to mention this game, but I've been playing this game since I got it for Christmas. I love it, but the perfectionist in me refuses to let a level go by without getting all the puzzle pieces. Which is not good, because those temple platform stages make me ragequit a LOT. Also, maybe it's just me, but the Invincibility Potion seems to totally break boss stages. I haven't gotten that far in the game, though, so perhaps it's just that the early bosses are really easy.

I only have DS and PS2, so I'm pretty outdated.

DS: Pokemon Platinum and LeafGreen. Also playing Zelda: Spirit Tracks on and off, but it's kind of frustrating.

PS2: I've been playing old sports games lately, such as NFL 2K2 and NBA Live 2003. It's interesting to see how the teams have changed in the past years. NBA Live 2003 still has Kobe and Shaq together and Tom Brady is a third-string nobody behind Bledsoe and Huard on the Patriots in NFL 2K2.

Dynasty Warriors, Okami (in preparation for the new one on DS), and the Timesplitters series.

Going even further back, I've been playing Threads of Fate, which was released for PS1, and old Star Wars games. They never get old!

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn (DS): One of the best DS RPG's I've ever played and the way the classes work is really interesting. The only problem I have with it is you can miss a ton of stuff because you can't go back to certain areas.

No love for Football Manager 2011? I can understand a lack of interest in certain countries but I thought at least 1 person would mention it :P

This game has taken a bigger percentage of my time than any game since MW2 or Pokemon Diamond. Never even that interested in football before I went to uni and now I love the game!

Nothing better than getting your favourite squad and raping your way to the top of the premiership.

i'm kind of starved of visual novels for the ds atm. i want games like the ace attorney series, not point and click games like another code or hotel dusk. like if i could play lifesigns without the gimmicky surgery bits that i can't do because i have a retarded touch screen i'd be so happy. any suggestions would be appreciated.

also i don't get why i can't play all of super scribblenauts with the dpad and buttons. why do i have to use the touch screen to touch 'ok' why can't i just press start. wow.

a new game by the same creator as the ace attorney called Ghost Trick was released yesterday. haven't bought it yet, but it has the same story/puzzle element to it.

Currently playing:

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep: No one mentioned this? (or any of them?) I really enjoyed this game. The battle mechanics are the best out of the others imo. The story was great although stupidly it never present at least a scene where Ansem is betrayed and all that mumbo-jumbo. I love beating Mysterious Figure. lol.

Megaman Starforce 3 BA/RJ: Best one out of it's short series. Online is fun even with the shitty Bushido spam players. I got to play RJ, which was more fun because of the final Noise and Japanese VAs. (English VAs was annoying.)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Good times... I rarely play online with my friends though due to college.

Waiting for:
Kingdom Hearts BBS FM.

If you like the visual novel part of the game, try Jake Hunter: Memories of the Past, if you don't mind the some point n' click(which honestly, AA is) Time Hollow might be a good go, and if you're sorely starved, try playing through all the AA games from 1-3, Apollo, and Edgeworth. And if you don't mind some hard timing and touch screen, Ghost Trick would also be a solid choice. It happens to be more puzzle though. Sucks that you can't play 999, it has good puzzles and an awesome storyline, even if you do have to play the game 5 times to see the whole of it.

i've played every aa game and i'm stoked for miles edgeworth 2 and the ace attorney crossover with professor layton

i tried jake hunter a while back, didn't really grab me. time hollow had massive touch screen issues (i really need a new DS...chinese new year is coming up maybe i'll scrounge enough cash for a ds lite). i'll give ghost trick a try.

I wanna play 999 and finish Miles Edgeworth, but I had a decision a while ago to stop pirating games. Don't wanna shell out the money for them, so I'll have to wait 'til they're like 10 bucks at a Gamestop. Which also reminds me, I should go pick up the second Layton game now that it's price is probably way down. Can't wait for the Phoenix Wright/Professor Layton crossover.

Being broke sucks.

Baldur's Gate 2 (+ Throne of Baal), God's gift to all those nerdy roleplayers. Played it all the way through, then started a new game right again. It's replayability is enormous, the story is deep and the characters are loveable (sometimes even literally).

I just got me the first part to play through it and use import my party from part one to part 2.

Yes, it's that good.

i got pokemon ranger: shadows of almia (DS) for christmas two years ago, never really played it thanks to my DS's touch screen being messed up, but i got a new one this year and started playing it. it was alot of fun, storyline was cool, but the way you had to try to 'befriend' pokemon was kind of cheesy lol.

i'm also 'playing' pokemon heart gold (if you count wifi battling as playing, lol). i'm considering breeding/training a couple pokes just to see how i like it though.

i pick up nba live 07 for psp whenever i get bored, i have 08 but i prefer the gameplay and music in 07 for some reason. mlb 07 the show and madden 07 are also alot of fun. (i got all my psp games in 07, if you don't count nba live 08 and the bigs which i got in 08)

also has anyone played the world ends with you (DS)? jesus christ that game is incredible

Metal Slug X: Better remake of Metal Slug 2, just like Pokemon Platinum being a remake to Diamond/Pearl...but a bit harder. Favorite stage goes to Mission 4, where you get fat a lotta times (but your attacks also gets "FAT"...*WooHoo BIG!!!*) Ever beaten this thing while rescuing the POWs falling out of the sky?

I know there's Metal Slug 3, but it seemed to be losing its classic militaristic theme, despite being the best around, but it's harder.

Been playing Eiyuu Densetsu 6 recently (aka Legend of Heroes 6) for PC/PSP (it comes out in the US sometime this year; been playing the JP version that I imported) and I must say that it's been a blast (the music is especially amazing).

It's a pity that ED7 is already out in japan but XSEED hasn't even released ED6 elsewhere in the world :/

also obligatory pokemon references (3rd gen fun): XD/saph/LG/FR/E

hoping to pick up Ys7 as well, though I don't know when/if that'll happen.

360: Black ops of course. Also playing assasins creed and Last Remnant. Pretty interesting rpg if you haven't played it.

PS2: Champions of Norrath. Pretty fun dungeon crawler. I play with my wife for the most part.

DS: I've been addicted to FF Tactics A2. I love both the games and tactical RPG's are so freaking enjoyable.

PC: trying to get shogo to run on windows 7. does anyone remember this game? it was amazing.
Age of Empires is outstanding. Always good to play and educational to.

No love for Football Manager 2011?

No.

Football manager has gone downhill since the 2009 version. The new interface seems restrictive, before you where on your own, the forlorn manager against the world! Which was good as it was challenging but at least you had full control. Now your other staff members are in your face constantly, reccomending players you dont need or coming up with useful information such as ' Your next opponent is Blackburn, they play a 5-4-1 formation. Did you know our team is the 15th most agressive in the league???!'. Also the formation and tactic settings have been oversimplified instead of being able to tweak settings to perfection you now choose out of only a few options, for example Strikers can be a poacher, trequarista (no idea what that means) or advanced forward among other similar options, and the game constantly hints at what you should do, highlighting which team you should select or changing tactics for you. However there is no real difference between each option and in the end the game seems to just run itself and instead of feeling like the guy in charge, the manager,You end up feeling like a spectator.

Not going to be on my shortlist this year.

Anyway my current favorite game is Fifa 2011, im a big football fan and the new ultimate team is so addicting! Also the gameplay is much improved.

Fallout new Vegas is an awesome game in many respects. The game is so vast and there is so much to do! Im about 40 hours in and the end isnt even on the horizon yet, people have said it is buggy and they are right but I havent seen anything gamebreaking yet.

My DS hasnt been used much lately. I want Black or White but by the time its released ill be close to moving onto the 3DS which hopefully comes out in march too.

Yeah, there was a thread of all of us loving it before the "a forum" came about, you can probably go find it. Great game, I really hope they don't make a sequel and just leave it be.

This is true, but as great a game as it was, I'd like a new game with similar gameplay. A "spiritual" sequel is what I believe it's called. Because I think the game was so awesome, and there is a way to not ruin a game via sequel, they should just make a different game that plays in the same way.

No one mentioned Proffesor Layton yet?

DS: Proffesor Layton and the Lost/Unwound Future: Just playing the rest of the puzzles now. Storyline is beautiful and charming, puzzles are harder and will literately hurt your brain at times, and the characters...what a great bunch! This is a great game, best of the lot.

Oh, and the ending nearly made me cry. 'Nuff said.

Looking forward to: Pokemon B/W, Prof. Layton and the Mask of Miracle, Prof. Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, 3DS in general.
