General Fighting Game Discussion

Oh I meant to post this too:

The extra games seem pretty appealing if you have a PSP/Vita.

I'm ok with no more gameplay patches with Marvel 3. Just let the game evolve on its own. TAC infinites will probably be a dominating force on the game within the next year, but it's just a blip compared to all the over options to have to kill a character. I feel the only character that will be abusing it a lot is Dormammu, since he's one of the few viable character who has one and plays best in the 2nd slot.

Evo was pretty good this year. KOF, by far, had the best top 8.

So, new Blazblue, newish Guilty Gear, and Persona 4 is picking up some serious steam in the community. Things are looking pretty smart for ASW! Hopefully this doesn't come back to bite them somehow.

Bump or whatever.

Is anybody following the TOPANAGA league? Looks like Daigo is back on top of his game, sharing the top spot with Fuudo. Really surprised at Mago's placement though-I knew he wasn't as good these days, but not below Kyabetsu and Mochi. Eita shouldn't have been in the A league in the first place and deserves to drop.

I wish I knew how to play more characters in Tekken aside from Alisa. I've been struggling in TTT2 because of that, and my stubbornness to not do solo Alisa.

How good is the netplay in TT2 compared to other games? I've heard good, but I'm not sure where that really places compared to others

This thread needs more discussion, so I present two questions:

Who do you think are the five (5) best SSF4AE players in the world?

and:

Who do you think are the five (5) best SSF4AE players in the USA?

Discuss, debate, etc!

We've already discussed this heh, but I'll go ahead and list my opinion anyway:

World: Infiltration, Fuudo, Gamerbee, Daigo, some fifth guy

USA: Dieminion, Wolfkrone, Justin, Ricky, Latif

I'm not knowledgeable enough to make confident statements about player skill in AE2012 so I'm kind of just going from tournament results here! Latif is the exception and probably the only "controversial" person I listed, but the only person I could imagine displacing him would be, like, PR Rog I guess. Shrug.

Skullgirls 1.01 patch is finally out (for PSN)! Ahhhh, so happy right now.

Also, apparently Reverge fired everyone or something. So the Skullgirls team has reassembled and is now Lab Zero Games. Probably won't be seeing a PC release or new characters for a while, if ever... but oh well.

Aquapazza comes off as too "generic" for me to get into at this point. I'd play pretty much anything if it had GGPO though, like wow Skullgirls netcode is great so far. I'm kind of scared that I'll be "spoiled" by it when Guilty Gear finally comes out.

Blazblue CP has been out on the japanese arcades for a while. Anyone looking foward to the console release in and out of japan? I'm specially looking foward to trying Azrael out.

Amane looks alright just because I like seeing characters with decent-looking normals. Everyone else looks painfully boring; I'll probably be sticking to Jin once again, or maybe one of the zoners if they end up being top tier or whatever.

In other news, some guy named Ken or something was apparently playing SSBM recently...

He's not half bad for someone who hasn't played in 5 years.

We were watching and talking about this together on IRC and it was really cool seeing like old school Marth dealing with five years worth of meta and tech advancements. Amazing how well Ken did on fundamentals alone.

Anyway, NEC this weekend should be pretty great to watch. Standard east coast Marvel hype, some good SF action, and then the Japanese players coming for P4A, BB, and also maybe GG? I dunno, I just wanna see how badly they can smack Americans around specifically in Persona 'cause I actually understand that game, but should be fun to watch regardless.

All the new characters looking good, already tired of seeing like over 9000 Bullets though. =[ Amane's chip is insaneeeeeeeeeee

Pfft, glad to know I was not the only one that got these impressions. Bullet everywhere and Amane dealing more chip than actual combo damage.

Azrael's kick loop is just the best thing about CP so far.

From the way Ken was talking, it seemed like he wanted to get into the commentary game, heh.

And yeah definitely looking forward to some Guilty Gear. Not sure how much I'll be playing it when it's just AC+ though (Skullgirls having GGPO is definitely playing a bit of a spoiler there).

For everyone on this thread, Apex 2013 is coming January 11-13th in New Brunswick, featuring the expected fighting games along with Persona 4 Arena, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Soul Calibur 5, and Pokemon Black and White 2 being introduced this tournament!

Man' I'm so freaking hyped.

I don't even care about any of that. When it comes to Apex, the only thing I care about is Melee.

Also Project M. And Marvel because it's Marvel.

But mostly Melee.
