Pet Mod Generation X (Region 2 - Completed, Playtesting)

No one of the Starter Movepools submissions included an exclusive move. Do we want them?

  • Make the submitters of the winning movepools suggest the exclusive moves (they won't be voted)

  • Make a slate overlapped with the next one to decide them

  • We don't need exclusive moves, not all starters had them

Counterparts: Lavatee, Cascamount

Flavor/Design: A fully-grown manatee with a hard reddish-brown exterior and bits of red lava showing through. It evolves from Flamatee at Level 34. Lavatee's body temperature is hot enough that it causes anything it eats to evaporate instantly. It then uses what it eats to fuel its Fire-type attacks.

New Features:
Effect: Reduces damage taken from Water-type attacks by 50%.
Additional distribution: Slugma, Magcargo
Type: Fire/Status
BP: -
Accuracy: -
PP: 15
Effect: Restores 50% of the user's max HP and raises its Defense stat 1 level.

Name: Surfelis (Surf + Felis [Latin for Cat])
Counterparts: Grasserine, Flamatee
Typing:
Water.png

Ability: Torrent (Hidden: Cursed Body)
Base Stats: 60 / 90 / 53 / 46 / 50 / 111 (Total: 410)

Flavor/Design: A fully-grown bipedal Florida panther with elongated indigo front claws. It evolves from Surfelis at Level 34. Cascamount became a Ghost-type after excessive poaching diminished its population. Its claws are over 100 times as strong as Surfelis's, and there have been reports of Cascamount creating tsunamis with a single swipe at water.

New Features:
Type: Water/Physical
BP: 40
Accuracy: 90
PP: 5
Effect: Attacks twice. The second attack is twice as strong as the first.
Distribution: Signature move of Cascamount.

Flavor/Design: A small crustacean making its home in a hewn out fig.
Breeding Group: Water3/Grass
Potential Competitive Role: In LC this thing is smash grass with interesting coverage. None of its stats are super high and it can’t really SE hit ghosts but all the Hammer moves are useful.

Name: Crabbage
Evolution: Lobstuce

Overgrow (Ripen)

Notable Moves: Same, plus Ice Hammer, Ice Beam, Icicle Crash, Freeze Dry, Triple Axel
Flavor/Design: ICEBERG Lettuce... Lobster thing.
Potential Competitive Role: I think we can figure out what an Ice/Grass combo with Shell Smash is supposed to do, right?! Adding water is nice but the super effective coverage is kinda redundant with both grass and ice! No ground type is ever coming in at least.

Name: Squinge

Moves: Body Press, Scald, Stealth Rock, Rapid Spin, Flip Turn, Slack Off, Spikes, Roar
Flavor/Design: Aardvark boat. Lotsa boats in Florida!
Potential Competitive Role: Fat Water! When it evolves into its steel typing it’s stat growth is still pretty much “everything but attack stats!”

Scavenge: For every layer of hazard when switching in, take no damage and remove the hazard restoring 1/8 of max HP for each one removed.

Name: Cruisaard
Counterpart(s): Crabbage and Hotcapus

Flavor/Design: Aardvark Titanic. Big boat.
Potential Competitive Role: So this might be too good but unlike other fat steels it can’t really hurt anyone. It just sits there and can’t even really stall. It just places and removes spikes. Very passive support mon.

Grass Line
Name: Palmega
Typing:
Grass.png
Steel.png

Abilities: Overgrow | Guts (HA)
Base Stats: 110 / 124 / 101 / 68 / 65 / 62
Height: 6’8”
Weight: 415 kg
Notable Moves: Palm Tail - Grass-type Dragon Tail clone
Physical: Power Whip, Leaf Blade, Heavy Slam, Iron Head, Knock Off, Earthquake, Superpower, Body Press, Stone Edge, Wild Charge, Dragon Tail,
Special: Energy Ball, Giga Drain, Flash Cannon,
Status: Synthesis, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Swords Dance, Roar, Leech Seed, Iron Defense
Flavor: Based on the saw palmetto, a very common bush in Florida, with tough, pointy leaves and spiky branches. The early stages are based on armadillos, but Palmega has a less compact body plan, no shell, and a long, spiky tail. All of them have a palm frond at the end of their tail, and other spiky/palm motifs. Palm Tail's shuffling made sense to me because palm fronds are very fan-like, and it has a big dinosaur tail.
Description: A tank that can try to wallbreak with Flame Orb, or simply Spike and shuffle opponents with its signature move. Either way, Guts makes it a solid switch into Scald.
Water Line
Name: Ospree
Typing:
Water.png
Flying.png

Abilities: Torrent | Rattled (HA)
Base Stats: 72 / 112 / 79 / 82 / 67 / 118
Height: 4'5”
Weight: 26 kg
Notable Moves: Storm Swell - Water-type Earthquake clone (hits Dive instead of Dig)
Physical: U-turn, Brave Bird, Liquidation, Close Combat,
Special: Hurricane, Air Slash, Hydro Pump, Scald, Surf, Ice Beam,
Status: Bulk Up, Roost, Defog, Taunt,
Flavor: Based on three birds that are common to see at the beach. Sandpipers, Seagulls, and Osprey. High Speed is natural for sandpipers (which run with insanely fast footsteps from tiny legs) and Osprey (bird of prey), so I went with a speedy build. When using Storm Swell it flies up and dives, then flies paralell to the ground, and a wave forms behind it.
Description: An offensive pivot or sweeper. Rattled lets you punish U-turn and may turn various other situations to your favor, especially if trying to sweep.
Fire Line
Name: Frillgon
Typing:
Fire.png
Fairy.png

Abilities: Blaze | Intimidate (HA)
Base Stats: 80 / 91 / 75 / 126 / 95 / 68
Height: 5'2”
Weight: 88 kg
Notable Moves: Fire Wave - Fire-type Meteor Beam clone
Physical: U-turn, Flare Blitz, Fire Punch, Play Rough, Earthquake, Aqua Tail,
Special: Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Lava Plume, Moonblast, Psychic, Psyshock, Shadow Ball, Scorching Sands, Focus Blast,
Status: Recover, Stealth Rock, Will-o-Wisp, Calm Mind, Dragon Dance
Flavor: Based on the common lizard native to Florida, the anole. Males have what is called a dewlap, which is a flap of skin that they fill with blood as a sign to mates or as a threat display. Frillgon's dewlap is a chamber that it can use to generate and store intense heat before sending it at the foe (this is what happens during Fire Wave).
Description: A defensive pivot, mostly, although Power Herb + Fire Wave is a potential nasty surprise for most switch-ins.
Signature moves are all learned on final evolution

When first thinking of starters for this generation, I wanted to think of animals that can be found in Florida, especially being Floridian myself. That said, I wanted to have some kind of overarching theme. With a long-extinct ancestor of a classic alligator for a grass starter and two different invasive species (boa constrictors and lionfish, both in Florida!) for the fire and water starters, I figured it out. Just like people, these starter pokemon shouldn't really be here.

UPDATE: EVERYTHING'S FINALLY COMPLETE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Before we begin, here’s a healthy reminder that it’s anti Floridian discrimination to not vote for these

To start, a Grass/Rock type that isn’t Cradily
:bw/sandile:
GRASS STARTER (Florida Gator)
Name: Gaturf (Gator + Turf)
Type: Grass
Counterparts: Wrapyro, Cubbly
Abilities: Overgrow, Strong Jaw (HA) [this fucker needs some STAB bite moves]
Stats: 60 HP / 70 Atk / 65 Def / 40 SpA / 55 SpD / 30 Spe (320 total)
Flavor/Design: A small gator with green grass on top, brown scales below, and pebble-like teeth. (think Sandile but flatter and with a lawn over it. a flat fuck, if you will.)
Evo 1 (Level 16): Cropodile (Crop + Crocodile)
Type: Grass
Counterparts: Restrictorch, Pridrench
Abilities: Overgrow, Strong Jaw (HA)
Stats: 80 HP / 90 Atk / 85 Def / 55 SpA / 70 SpD / 40 Spe (420 total [haha])
Flavor/Design: Now on two legs (get your boos out now this is the only bipedal starter here), green grass running all the way down its back, sharper teeth, longer and thinner face, square-patterned scales on belly. Maybe a Japanese-style helmet.

Evo 2 (Level 36): Deinamow (Deinosuchus + Mow + Daiymo + Dynamo)
Types: Grass / Rock
Counterparts: Conductorch, Predatide
Abilities: Overgrow, Strong Jaw (HA)
Stats: 95 HP / 110 Atk / 110 Def / 70 SpA / 90 SpD / 60 Spe (535 total)
Flavor/Design: Beefy, beefy boy. Shaped like a rectangle. Narrower face with even sharper teeth, square scales are everywhere on body, like terra cotta armor but the ones on the belly are larger and have deeper gaps with moss in them. If Japanese-style helmet on Cropodile, bigger and more detailed helmet on this guy.
Notable Moves: Grassy Fangs, Craggy Chomp, Earthquake, Stealth Rock, Curse
Intended Role: Physical Wallbreaker, Setup Sweeper, Physical Wall, Stealth Rock Setter
Weight: 831 kg

Mega Form: Mega Deinamow
Ability: Strong Jaw
Stats: 95 HP / 135 Atk / 135 Def / 75 SpA / 120 SpD / 75 Spe (635 total)
Flavor/Design: More grass, fang-like spikes on armor, comically large fangs by now, intricate yet mossier armor. If helmet, that shit goes crazy now.

Next up is a Fire/Electric type that isn’t a fucking Rotom form
:bw/seviper:
FIRE STARTER (Boa Constrictor + Solar Panel)
Name: Wrapyro (Wrap + Pyro)
Type:
Fire
Counterparts: Gaturf, Cubbly
Abilities: Blaze,
Solar Charge (HA)
Solar Charge: In strong sunlight, this pokemon has 1.5x its Attack but takes 1/8 max health of damage after each turn.
Permanent: No
Mold Breaker: No

Ability Justification: Guys it's literally just solar power for physical attackers, you'll see it on sun teams
Stats: 45 HP / 65 Atk / 50 Def / 45 SpA / 50 SpD / 65 Spe (320 total)
Flavor/Design: Small red and black snake with that yellow Kraft cheese square that the last 2 real fire starters have had (Black on top, red on bottom, yellow square in bottom center), flicker of flame for a tongue, and dull fangs that look like a plug without holes in the center.
Evo 1 (Level 16): Restrictorch (Restrict + Torch + Constrictor)
Type:
Fire
Counterparts: Cropodile, Pridrench
Abilities: Blaze, Solar Charge (HA)
Stats: 60 HP / 85 Atk / 65 Def / 60 SpA / 65 SpD / 85 Spe (420 total)

Flavor/Design: Longer and thicker, more detailed yellow design where square was, perhaps taking up more of body, fangs and tongues grow proportionately, sharp tail
Evo 2 (Level 36): Conductorch (Conductor + Torch + Constrictor)
Types: Fire / Electric
Counterparts: Deinamow, Predatide
Abilities: Blaze, Solar Charge (HA)
Stats: 75 HP / 120 Atk / 80 Def / 65 SpA / 80 SpD / 115 Spe (535 total)
Notable Moves: Flare Blitz (Fire Lash?), Sun Severance, Solar Blade/Leaf Blade, Volt Switch, Defog

Intended Role: Physical Wallbreaker, Offensive Pivot, Hazard Control
Flavor/Design: Really big and long, thin white dividers on back/top to represent solar panels, circular hole in between larger fangs to look like a plug, tail looks like a sharp USB plug or other single prong plug, yellow pattern has thunderbolts on it, perhaps lightning comes out of it like the flame tongue, which is also larger.
Weight: 69 kg
Mega Form: Mega Conductorch
Ability: Drought
Stats: 75 HP / 140 Atk / 95 Def / 100 SpA / 95 SpD / 130 Spe (635 total)
Flavor/Design: Grander yellow design with sun symbols alongside lightning symbols, single prong plug on tail becomes triple pronged, definitely lightning coming out of yellow area but perhaps fire rising from the sides as well. Plug teeth might go from gray to white hot as artist sees fit. Of course, the mon gets longer and a bit thicker.

And finally we have a Water/Poison type that isn’t a stalling piece of shit :) (except Skrelp, love u Skrelp)
:ss/litleo:
WATER STARTER (Lionfish + Lion)
Name: Cubbly (Cub + Bubbly + Cuddly)
Type:
Water
Counterparts: Gaturf, Wrapyro
Abilities: Torrent,
Deterioration (HA)
Deterioration: The user's Poison type moves ignore steel immunity and can leave the poisoned effect on Steel and Poison types
Stats: 50 HP / 50 Atk / 40 Def / 70 SpA / 40 SpD / 70 Spe (320 total)
Flavor/Design: Sky blue lion cub/cat with faint white stripes, a fish (or lionfish) tail, spiny fins on legs, and long, sharp whiskers that look like lionfish fin rays.
Evo 1 (Level 16): Pridrench (Pride + Drench + Trench)
Type:
Water
Counterparts: Cropodile, Restrictorch
Abilities: Torrent, Deterioration (HA)
Stats: 55 HP / 65 Atk / 55 Def / 90 SpA / 55 SpD / 100 Spe (420 total)
Flavor/Design: Blue is darker, now a medium color, white stripes become a bit more prominent and turn from white to a light bluish-purple, bigger tail, larger cub/young lion body with rays on top of head like top of the beginnings of a mane, sharper "whiskers", and sharper leg fins

Evo 2 (Level 36): Predatide (Pride + Predator + Tide)
Types: Water / Poison
Counterparts: Deinamow, Conductorch
Abilities: Torrent, Deterioration (HA)
Stats: 75 HP / 95 Atk / 65 Def / 110 SpA / 65 SpD / 125 Spe (535 total)
Notable Moves: Hydro Pump/Scald, Decaying Downpour, Ice Beam, Flip Turn, Toxic Spikes, Toxic
Intended Role: Special Wallbreaker, Offensive Pivot, Hazard Setter, Poison Abuser
Flavor/Design: Deep blue, bluish-purple stripes still thin but stronger shade and abundant, full set of rays around head like mane, rays around limbs as artist sees fit if at all, long and thin body structure, larger and sharper leg fins.
Weight: 191 kg

Mega Form: Mega Predatide
Ability: Deterioration
Stats: 75 HP + 115 Atk + 75 Def + 145 SpA + 75 SpD + 150 Spe (635 total) [Do NOT give this any speed boosting moves]
Flavor/Design: Dark navy blue body, bluish purple stripes now a deep purple and a bit thicker, longer and sleeker frame (think suicune but spiky). Rays are long and extremely sharp, maybe poison is dripping out of the edges of some.

They have strong psychic energy but can also defend themselves with their powerful kicks if needed. It’s tail is the source of its psychic energy. Filter comes from the fact that flamingos filter feed their prey.
Potential Competitive Role: Strong Breaker that struggles against the likes of Alapeco and Ferrothorn. It can use roost to stay up through the game and threaten teams with its powerful water and psychic moves. It can also fit good utility for your team in defog. If it opts for a physical set, it also gets swords dance and aqua jet so that’s fun.

Custom Elements: Rollerflame
Flavor/Design: Burneris gains and additional 2 cotton flames, and you can no longer tell if it’s expression is happy or straight up manicial. It’s clown nose is a reference to it being partly based off a crazy clown, same with the cheek spots as clown make up. The symbol on its belly with 6 balls outward repersent a Ferris wheel, something found in both theme parks and carnivals alike.
Potential Competitive Role: Unique mon that has a cool defensive typing being able to check weavile while also maintaining a good offensive presence on the field. Pixilate makes its return’s hurt a lot while Rollerflame gives it a reliable physical fire stab. It’s access to Earthquake mean heatran and pex aren’t that big of an obstacle, and will-o-wisp can be some fun utility to punish switch ins like landorus-t.

Potential Competitive Role: Its powerful recoilless wood hammer and access to dragon dance and ecoshroud can reptora a terrifying bulky sweeper. Its access to flamethrower and fire blast is very useful to lure in ferrothorns, and access to leech seed and glare can make defensive sets good to use as well.

Here are my starters that I have decided to use images for.

medium.jpeg

Name: Sapigua (Sap + Iguana)
Evolution: Evolves into Flaguana at level 16
Category: Long Tail Pokemon
Counterpart(s):
Typing:
Grass.png

Abilities: Overgrow/Long Reach
Base Stats: 35 / 65 / 45 / 45 / 45 / 70 (310)
Height: 0.7 m
Weight: 0.7kg
Flavor/Design: This one is pretty simple a green iguana. They tend to live in wooded areas so I figured it would make sense, plus they are invasive to Florida. I went with grass/fighting instead of just mono grass because Iguana's have a very powerful tail whip attack and I wanted to lean into that a bit. They're also quite speedy as at their maximum speed they can run up to 21 miles per hour.

In the Lorian Lore this pokemon is often given out to new trainers that want a bit of a challenge. This seemingly calm pokemon can become quite stressed and a bit volatile, however if raised properly by its trainer it will have a friend for life. It will often use its tail to swat away at people and pokemon it doesn't like.

Name: Flaguana (Flagellum (latin for whip) + Iguana)
Evolution: Evolves into Iguanacomba at level 36
Category: Whip Tail Pokemon
Counterpart(s): Avamus and Manateen
Typing:
Grass.png
Fighting.png

Abilities: Overgrow/Long Reach
Base Stats: 50 / 80 / 65 / 60 / 65 / 100 (420)
Height: 1.0m
Weight: 20.0kg
Flavor/Design: Alright so to piss everyone off this grass type learns how to stand up. Now we have this bipedal iguana with a long tail and a headband made out of palm leaves. Likewise its tail becomes longer and skinnier to represent its more whip like traits.

In the Lorian Lore Flaguana can handle its stress a bit better as its bond with its trainer develops. It now focuses on a unique fighting style that has the tail act as a fifth and dominant limb. When stressed it will often shadow box with itself in order to calm itself down.

Name: Iguanacomba (The latin name for the green iguana: Iguana Iguana + Combat)
Counterpart(s): Dizhorder and Vanatee
Typing:

Category: Tail Fighter Pokemon
Abilities: Overgrow/Long Reach
Base Stats: 60 / 110 / 70 / 90 / 70 / 135 (535)
Height: 1.6m
Weight: 50.0kg
Notable Moves: Power Whip, Close Combat, Tail Lash, Swords Dance, Rock Slide, Mach Punch, Drain Punch, Low Kick, Superpower, Knock Off, Dragon Tail, U-Turn, Poison Jab, Focus Blast, Giga Drain, Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb Tail Slap, Thunder Punch, Iron Tail, Aqua Tail
Flavor/Design: Okay so we have this large iguana fighter guy right. We give him boxing tape but it's made out of leaves and vines! The spikes get more pronounced on its body and it's tail is long and looks more like a whip than an actual tail.

In the Lorian Lore Iguanacomba is seen as one of the toughest pokemon for others to fight against. Its tail allows it to keep people at a distance and those that can survive its lashes will be greeted by some powerful martial arts. It is known as the green blur in Loria due to its incredible speed.

Potential Competitive Role: Alright so this is meant to be a physical sweeper, but more importantly a physical sweeper that can bypass contact based abilities, which weirdly enough gives it a niche as a presumed ferrothorn check assuming ferrothorn is involved. It can't be seeded, it resists both gyro ball and power whip, and iron barbs with rocky helmet does nothing to it. That said grass/fighting still does have issues namely the fact that most flying types will have a field day with this thing since it's main cover for them is rock slide.
Name: Tail Lash
Type:

Name: Mickid (Mickey + Kid)
Evolution: Evolves into Avamus at level 18
Category: Fire Mouse Pokemon
Counterpart(s): Bubbatee and Sapguana
Typing:
Fire.png

Abilities: Blaze/Monopolize
Base Stats: 40 / 45 / 45 / 70 / 45 / 60 (310)
Height: 0.2 m
Weight: 9.5kg
Flavor/Design: Okay so this is based on a certain terrible mouse out there that acts the mascot for a certain BLOATED OMNIPRESENT MEGA CORPATION THAT CAN SUCK MY BI DICK! You might ask, "DG/Rodg why are you making the fire starter based on something you hate so much", and the answer is so I can mock it.

Anyway in the Lorain lore Mickid is often given out to young trainers who seem to adore it's charm, as it seems to represent childhood whimsy. However it is often noted for hording vast amounts of things. Some trainers adore it into adulthood much to the ire of other trainers who are more wary of its greedy nature.

Name: Avamus (Avarice + Mus the latin word for mouse)
Evolution: Evolves into Dizhorder at level 38
Counterpart(s): Manateen and Flaguana
Typing:
Fire.png
Dark.png

Category: Greedy Mouse Pokemon
Abilities: Blaze/Monopolize
Base Stats: 80 / 90 / 60 / 100 / 60 / 50 (420)
Height: 1.0m
Weight: 25.5 kg
Flavor/Design: I'm gonna be blunt here. It looks like a slightly chubbier slightly grosser version of Mickey Mouse, including pants.

In the Lorian Lore Avamus gives into its greedy behavior and starts hording anything it deems to be remotely valuable. This often causes trouble for trainers as anything the trainer deems as valuable will be seen as valuable to Avamus as well. The horde of an average Avamus is said to be worth 500,000 PokémonDollar.png .

Name: Dizhorder (Disorder + Horder + Disney)
Counterpart(s): Iguanacomba and Vanatee
Typing:

Dark.png

Category: Monopoly Pokemon
Abilities: Blaze/Monopolize
Base Stats: 115 / 110 / 70 / 130 / 70 / 40 (535)
Height: 3.5m
Weight: 650.0 kg
Notable Moves: Fire Blast, Heat Wave, Flamethrower, Buy Out, Dark Pulse, Dazzling Gleam, Scorching Sands, Sludge Bomb, Heat Crash, Flare Blitz, Fire Punch, Sucker Punch, Knock Off, Heavy Slam, Gunk Shot, Play Rough, Earthquake, U-Turn, Body Press, Body Slam, Curse, Nasty Plot, Bulk Up, Will-O-Wisp, Slack Off , Pay Day, Thunder Punch, Night Slash, Shadow Claw
Flavor/Design: In terms of design I want this thing to be ugly as hell. Imagine Mickey Mouse but as this gigantic grotesque subway rat with like a long wiry tail, tattered mickey mouse pants, long hand like claws that burst out of its presumed gloves, and of course just like the company I am trying to mock here the mon itself is bloated beyond belief. Also it's whiskers resemble Walt Disney's moustache, because subtly is for chumps.
My reasoning for this is because this mon represents the ugliness of Walt Disney as a person, he was honestly not the nicest guy around as workers can attest to, and the ugliness of the Disney Corporation both as the gargantuan empire of joy that it is today and of its questionable past.

In the Lorian Lore Dizhorder will steal almost anything and everything so it has some form of control over it. It's main goal is to expand its horde, expand itself, and exert its control over the world. Very few trainers actually use it due to its controlling nature, but those that do are typically controlling themselves.

On an unrelated note but a bit of flavor I included with this are the evolution levels themselves as Steam Boat Willie came out on November 18th 1928 and Snow White was released on February 4th 1938. I didn't really know where else to put this so I figured I'd just mention it here.

Potential Competitive Role: A special wallbreaker but more interestingly a decent OTR mon. It's fairly fat, slow, and can hit pretty hard. With curse by its side it can even out slow the competition in OTR. However Monopoly provides it something interesting as its immunity to its own types means that it effectively will always keep its boots on.

Name: Monopolize

Name: Bubbatee (Bubble + Manatee)
Evolution: Evolves into Manateen at level 16
Category: Sea Calf Pokemon
Counterpart(s): Sapigua and Mickid
Typing:
Water.png

Abilities: Torrent/Thick Fat
Base Stats: 70 / 40 / 65 / 40 / 65 / 30 (310)
Height: 1.0m
Weight: 30.0 kg
Flavor/Design: It's a blue baby manatee that is nice and round like a bubble. For every yin there must be a yang and for every awful thing Florida has there are manatees. Manatees are simply too good and pure for this sinful earth. If a manatee mugged me I would give it my wallet, my keys, my degree, and anything else important but I know that will never happen because I simply think manatees are the antithesis to anything horrible in the world and thus no such acts are physically possible for a manatee to commit.

In the Lorian lore Bubbatee is often given to new trainers who tend to be a bit more somber or more inexperienced than the rest. It's joyful smile and cuddly physique make it a pick me up for any trainer, even the saddest of them. It is known for being both patient and sturdy allowing for novice trainers to grow along side it while occasionally making mistakes. It is often said that being around the presence of one instantly improves your mood.

Name: Manateen
Evolution: Evolves into Vanatee at level 36
Counterpart(s): Flaguana and Avamus
Typing:
Water.png

Category: Sea Cow Pokemon
Abilities: Torrent/Thick Fat
Base Stats: 95 / 60 / 80/ 75 / 80 / 30 (420)
Height: 2.0m
Weight: 266.8kg
Flavor/Design: It's now an rebellious teen manatee that actually looks more like a manatee instead of a precious ball of fat and happiness. It's still blue but now with notes of white in the mix to represent seafoam. Also it has a scar on its back, as unfortunately manatees often end up with scars due to them being hit by awful floridian boaters.

In the Lorian Lore Manateen despite its rebellious streak is ultimately still gentle and good natured. Even though it might get flustered a bit more with its trainer, it still cares about them and will strive to make them happy. It often puts the needs of others before itself often stressing it out, causing it to enter trances that seem to calm it down.
Potential Competitive Role: The only reason I include this here and not for any of the other evolutions is because I feel as though this thing could use eviolite pretty well. It does have access to recovery in Slack Off and like many other water types it gets scald. I'm sure it could have a use in maybe the lower tiers here due to that decent combo alone.

Name: Vanatee (Nirvana + Manatee)
Counterpart(s): Iguanacomba and Dizhorder.

Psychic.png

Category: Sea Cow Pokemon
Abilities: Torrent/Thick Fat
Base Stats: 120 / 70 / 95 / 100 / 95 / 55 (535)
Height: 3.0m
Weight: 453.6 kg
Notable Moves: Scald, Hydro Pump, Surf, Changing Tides, Psychic, Psyshock, Future Sight, Mind Press, Dazzling Gleam, Shadow Ball, Ice Beam, Focus Blast, Body Press, Calm Mind, Enlightenment, Detect, Teleport, Toxic, Slack Off, Heavy Slam, Amnesia
Flavor/Design: Okay so the idea with Vanatee is that it is a manatee who can use its psychic powers to avoid getting hit by the terror amongst the waters that are floridian boaters. In terms of its design the scar they had as Manateen is healed up, thankfully, however the color palette is a bit different. It's blue skin now turns into more of a purple-ish blue color and we get a lighter shade of purple as well to help blend into the white parts of it better. On top of all that, playing off of both a wizened old monk and the existing manatee muzzle giving it facial hair, it now gets a bubble beard.

In the Lorian Lore after so many trances a Manateen discovers enlightenment and becomes Vanatee. It uses its psychic powers to guide their trainers to victory. More often than not a Vanatee can often detect boats better than the boaters can detect them, thus they will help lead various Bubbatees and Manateens away from said boats, as to not have them get hurt. Legend has it that if angered by a boater, Vanatee can teleport them far beyond the coast, leaving them forever lost at sea.
Potential Competitive Role: It's a bulky water/psychic type with future sight and teleport, but no regen, thus Vanatee is going to be seen as an inferior Slowbro, but like real world manatees it does not care what us mere humans think of it. However the main appeal here is both access to Enlightenment which can make foes more reluctant to hit it with a dark type move, and more importantly Changing Tides. The ability for phasing out mons could be a huge boon in Vanatee's favor and give it something that Slowbro lacks.

Reasoning (from Discord):
Hi guys, I'm so happy that the pet mod returned even more active than before, so i want to participate!
I'm working on a concept for regional starter variations, they have the base form and first evolutions called as their original form, while their final evolution is a different species from the original one. So, here they are:
- Lorian Chespin is a Grass type and will become Grass/Electric, it's based on American Football, they throw Chesto Berries.
- Lorian Totodile is a Fire type and will become Fire/Poison, it's based on swamps and alligators actually living in Florida, it will become a spinosaurus.
- Lorian Torchic is a Water type and will become a Water/Flying, I actually need an inspiration for it, since I don't really know the birds of Florida, and having Quaxly coming and Ducklett already existing, i don't want to get too similar to them, so a big nasty hunter bird would fit more than a simple duck.
Their typings are based on the combinations of RGB values, where Green+Red=Yellow, Red+Blue=Magenta, and Blue+Green=Cyan, so I chose the typing that fitted more with the colors. Since Scoopapa mentioned it in the region description, a link with Native American culture would be perfectly fitting, as I would represent an element of nature with Totodile, of culture with Chespin, and of history with Torchic.
A sketch of the base formes.

Abilities: Overgrow / Rough Skin
Base Stats: 90 / 75 / 50 / 90 / 65 / 50 [BST: 420]
Flavor/Design: This one would be a smaller adult newt, losing the external gills and having a flatter body. It would also be wider, like a larger shelf mushroom, with a thick mushroom-capped tail almost like an Ankylosaurus' club and some small long-stemmed mushrooms sticking out from under its shelf.

Confuses the target and lowers all of its stats by 1 stage. (except acc/eva)
Priority: 0 | Bounceable | Targets one adjacent mon
Flavor/Design: I thought it would be funny to combine licking amphibians with doing shrooms, so if you lick this you hallucinate. This would obviously be the biggest of the bunch, having an even wider and more rounded back than the previous two and being covered with all kinds of mushrooms, some spilling over the edge. Maybe you can see some mycelium in its shelf as well.
Potential Competitive Role: This one's meant to be a fatmon that uses an unexplored ability in Wonder Skin, spamming Strength Sap and Spore to be obnoxious. It also has a high special attack, preventing it from being too passive as it clicks Sludge Bomb and Giga Drain. Bad Trip is just a funny move, probably not worth using.

30% chance to burn the target. Thaws target.
Priority: 0 | Contact | Secondary | Thaws User | Targets one adjacent mon
Flavor/Design: The obligatory bipedal starter, but rather than the usual "it's suddenly a furry now", this one still looks like a real armadillo and stands hunched on its hind legs. Its hands and feet have orange-hot metal claws and its back is covered in orange-hot metal plating, while its now-visible chest is black and charred-looking in a pattern resembling body armour.
Potential Competitive Role: With a typing like this, it's hard to go wrong. Molten Claw is a spammable STAB that spreads burn, letting it do its job as an annoying defensive threat well. Tough Claws makes its damage output a lot better than its stats would indicate, helping to compensate for the lack of recovery.

Abilities: Torrent / Iron Fist
Base Stats: 35 / 65 / 70 / 40 / 40 / 60 [BST: 310]

Flavor/Design: Mantis shrimps are mostly known for two things: The strongest punches in the animal kingdom and their incredible eyesight, and this is where we really start to lean into both. Much bigger smasher claws than Mantint and the Fighting type make it clear that this mon means business, and whereas some Mantis shrimp are able to change which types of colours they see to adapt to any situation, this one is instead able to change the colours of its exoskeleton, still primarily blue but showing a variety of colours and changing the colour of sclerites independently during battle.

Bypasses protection moves and priority protection.
Priority: 2 | Contact | Punch | Targets one adjacent mon
Flavor/Design: This one is massive and almost tank-like, with the front half of its body curling into a standing position and its fists held up in a guarding position. It's by far the most colourful of the three, taking some inspiration from the peacock mantis shrimp, while still shifting it body through just about every colour of the rainbow.
Potential Competitive Role: Illusion Punch and Dazzling would make this thing an absolute demon in VGC, but in singles this is pretty much your standard fast SD/Banded mon spiced up with an unusually-high defense stat. In singles, Dazzling is cool on paper but its usefulness will really depend on what kinds of priority come into the meta down the line. Illusion Punch is strong priority that can deal with setup mons and scarfers, but otherwise isn't too great on a mon that's already fast.

I rushed these a bit, but here's mine! I only got to draw the 1st stages ;;

Flavor/Design: A racoon vigilante that takes a lot of cues from Batman. Boasts a leafy mask and cape. Anatomy borrows a bit from Incineroar, but is a lot thinner and has a big emphasis on its clawed arms and bushy tail. Can go bipedal or quadrupedal as it wants like Incineroar.
Potential Competitive Role:
  • Speedy physical breaker, able to sweep with SD + Sucker Punch.
  • Useable albeit not wide coverage, notably having Fighting and Poison coverage.
  • U-Turn allows for offensive pivoting.
  • Infiltrator bypasses screens.
  • Signature move is always a critical hit, dealing great damage and can be useful for muscling past defensive setup.
  • Poor defensive typing and mediocre bulk can make it easy to pressure offensively.

Flavor/Design: A flamingo phoenix that's also inspired by fenghuang and the Vermilion Bird.
Potential Competitive Role:
  • Tank with a unique type that offers a lot of useful resistances.
  • Unique coverage options, boasting Grass and Water coverage alongside STAB Fire and Fairy.
  • Reliable recovery in Roost.
  • Flame Body can punish physical attackers.
  • Signature move is a nice utility option that pairs well with its ability and slew of moves that lower attacking stats.
  • Common weaknesses.
  • Reliance on Boots due to its Stealth Rock weakness means it cannot switch into Knock Off despite resisting it.

Effect: The user cures its burn, poison, or paralysis. Also lowers the target's Attack and Special Attack by 1 stage.
Priority: 0
Flags: Snatch
Distribution: Flamilion
Justification: The user scatters shimmering red feathers towards the target. Since it's got a lot of good attacking options already, I figured it'd be more interesting to make Flamilion's signature move a status move. It's a essentially a buffed Refresh, but it synergizes very well with Flamilion's ability to burn and drop stats. Can be used to force out the opponent, though its low PP means it must be used carefully.

Weight: 12.3 kg
Notable Moves: Siniserp's movepool + Brutal Swing, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Tail, Giga Impact, Hex, Hydro Cannon, Hyper Beam, Mirror Coat, Phantasmic Venom, Phantom Force, Poltergeist, Shadow Ball, Shadow Sneak
Flavor/Design: For this, I imagine the body actually being thinner than Siniserp's. The main idea was that its old shed skin reanimated due to leftover life force or whatever, so now it has a giant skin puppet it can control and use as a decoy.
Potential Competitive Role:
  • The fastest of these starters, leverages its solid bulk and resistances to find switch-in oppurtunities.
  • Utility options in Flip Turn, Knock Off, Toxic, and its signature move, a STAB attack with a 30% chance to poison.
  • Can sweep with Nasty Plot.
  • New ability grants additional longevity and means it does not have to fear status as much, potentially acting as a status absorber.
  • Lack of reliable recovery means it can be overwhelmed by repeated attacks.
Name: Soul Shed
Effect: This Pokémon recovers 1/16 of its HP and has its non-volatile status condition cured after two turns of being on the field.
Permanent: No
Mold Breaker: No
Distribution: Exclusive to Serpectral
Justification: I think Shed Skin is a neat ability on paper, but is generally too unreliable of an effect to be worth it. So here's Soul Shed, though you have to stay in for a bit for the ability to proc.
Name: Phantasmic Venom
Power: 90
Accuracy: 100

Effect: Has a 30% chance to poison the target.
Priority: 0
Flags: Protect, Mirror
Distribution: Serpectral
Justification: The user forms venomous fangs out of spectral energy and attacks the target with them. Essentially just a Ghost-type Sludge Bomb with better PP. Helps facilitate the utility side of Serpectral's playstyle and works well with the burning Scald.

Voting has begun!

For this slate, we will have a ranked vote. You can vote for up to five submissions, which each submission receiving points based on what order you put them in. For example:

Starter Set A - Gets 5 points
Starter Set B - Gets 4 points
Starter Set C - Gets 3 points
Starter Set D - Gets 2 points
Starter Set E - Gets 1 point

If you vote for less than 5, the amount of points that the top vote gets is equal to the number of votes you did and it goes down by one from there.
You can't vote for yourself as first place or as your only vote.
For this ballot, it's probably easiest to use the name of the person who subbed the starter trio in the ballot

The sub with the most points wins

Voting will close in 48 hours

Before we move on to the next slate, here's the spreadsheet! Here will be all the info you need for what's already in the metagame, as well as links to the last generation's spreadsheet!

With that done, it's time for the next slate!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Early Route Pokémon -
:sm/furret::sm/staraptor::sm/orbeetle::sm/liepard:

Early Route Pokémon are the Pokémon that typically encounter on the first or first couple routes of any Pokémon game, as the name would imply. While they typically have low BSTs and are often not great competitively unless you're Corviknight or the eternally BL Staraptor, they are extremely important to any Pokemon players adventure, being nice early game team options and often being used by rivals.

Rules
- For this slate, there are 4 separate categories that your subs will go in: Normal, Flying, Bug, and Mammal. Each category has their own requirements. You sub may up to 2 Pokémon lines per category.
- Mega Evolutions will NOT be part of this slate. Any Pokémon voted in can be given a Mega Evolution later, however.
- You can sub regional forms for any category, just as long as they fit the rules.
- For any slate, you can create and distribute new moves and abilities. Distribution may be slightly altered by council if voted in.
- For the Normal category (AKA "Rodents") - These Pokémon must have a 2 stage evolutionary line, the final evolution has a BST limit of 460 (though note that every early game rodent except for Greedent has less than 425 BST), and its primary type must be Normal. Examples: :furret::watchog::diggersby::raticate-alola:
- For the Flying category (AKA "Birds") - These Pokémon must have either a 2 stage or 3 stage evolutionary line, the final evolution has a BST limit of 500, and one of its typings must be Flying. These Pokémon are also always based on birds, but that's not required, just encouraged. Examples: :pidgeot::noctowl::staraptor::corviknight:
- For the Bug category - These Pokémon must have a 2 stage or 3 stage evolutionary line, the final evolution has a BST limit of 505, and its primary type must be Bug. Examples: :butterfree::ledian::kricketune::vikavolt:
- For the Mammal category - These Pokémon must have a 2 stage or 3 stage evolutionary line, the final evolution has a BST limit of 525 (though note that Luxray is the only one in this category with more than 500 BST), and they can have any type combination (though note that all early game extra mammals have been either Normal, Dark, or Electric). Examples: :mightyena::luxray::liepard::boltund:
- Any Pokémon in the above categories can have split evolutions

Hell yeah, bugs (heavy W.I.P. lmao)
:ss/grubbin:
Name: Bittybyte (Bit + Bitty + Beddybye)
Evolution: Lullabyte (Level 9), Dreadbug (Level 20)
Type: Bug
Abilities: Swarm, Strong Jaw, Comatose (HA)

Height: 0.2 meters (8 inches)
Weight: 1.2 kg (2.6 lbs)
Notable Moves: Bug Bite, Bite, Poison Fang, U-Turn
Flavor/Design: Proportions of a large bedbug, perhaps with its front legs folded on the floor for a sprite and notable closed eyes of Komala. Light reddish brown with wide dark brown stripes, kinda like an actual bedbug in light. Of course, this fucker got mandibles half the size of its face.
Potential Competitive Role: Guys it’s an LC bug, not much to do there

THE GENERIC NORMAL TYPE

Name
: Marronole (Marron (French for brown) + Anole)
Category: Tiny Lizard Pokemon
Evolution: evolves into Vertanole at level 20
Counterpart(s): N/A
Typing:
Normal.png

Abilities: Run Away/Color Change/Regenerator
Base Stats: 35 / 50 / 40 / 40 / 40 / 70 (275)
Height: 0.2m
Weight: 0.02 kg
Flavor/Design: It's a brown anole, a common site to a floridian. They're small, they puff out some weird neck crest, and they can change colors. They also climb on a lot of things and in my experience are fast little bastards.

In the Lorian Lore Marronole's are often the first pokemon new trainers catch due to their sheer abundance throughout Loria. Their flighty nature makes them run away from most battles, causing them to be looked down at as the "beginner pokemon". Often times trainers will catch them only to release them later, leading to an ever present population throughout all of Loria.

Name: Vertanole (Verticle + Vert (french for green) + Anole)
Category: Climbing Lizard Pokemon
Evolution: N/A
Counterpart(s): N/A
Typing:
Normal.png

Abilities: Sticky Hold/Color Change/Regenerator
Base Stats: 55 / 80 / 60 / 60 / 60 / 110 (425)
Height: 0.6m
Weight: 15.5kg
Notable Moves: Extreme Speed, Tail Slap, U-Turn, Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, Low Kick, Knock Off, Scale Shot, Dragon Tail, WIP
Flavor/Design: It's a green anole who is now on two legs and ready to climb. It also has goggle like eyes to mimic climbing goggles. Likewise it too can change colors. As for why it has sticky hold, it's to represent the pads that allow it to climb

In the Lorian Lore Vertanole's are much rarer despite how common Marronole is. Most trainers don't raise Marronole and thus don't see it evolve to its final form. However Vertanole is much more confident and battle ready. Its explorative nature allows and climbing ability causes it to end up in some of the most interesting of places. It is often said that not even death will prevent Vertanole from exploring.

Potential Competitive Role: This would probably settle down in the lower tiers as a mildly interesting gimmick. It's main boon is stab Extreme Speed and U-Turn Regen but not much else. It would most likely function as a worse Meinshao.

Name: Dormini (Dormouse + Mini)
Category: Normal
Evolution: Evolves into Dortorpor when reaching level 16 or higher.
Typing:
Normal.png
Ice.png

Abilities: Rattled / Harvest | Comatose
Base Stats: 40 HP / 30 Atk / 35 Def / 60 SpA / 35 SpD / 70 Spe (270 BST)
Height: 0.5 meters
Weight: 10 kilograms
Notable Moves: Powder Snow, Water Pulse, Tackle, Growl, Double Kick, Snarl, Stuff Cheeks, Grass Knot, Shock Wave, Seed Bomb, Screech, Yawn, Icy Wind, Defense Curl, Ice Ball, Hail
Flavor/Design: Small white mouse-like Pokémon with perpetual closed eyes. Often seen curling when asleep or after eating plenty of food. It will run away, even going as far as swimming, if it feels threatened, but it immediately goes back to a half-asleep state afterward. Due to Loria’s climate, it have to adapt living outside of cold environment by shedding it’s fur to be shorter, but thick enough to block sunlight.

Name: Dortorpor (Dormouse + torpor)
Category: Normal
Typing:
Normal.png
Ice.png

Abilities: Technician / Harvest | Comatose
Base Stats: 60 HP / 50 Atk / 60 Def / 95 SpA / 60 SpD / 100 Spe (425 BST)
Height: 0.9 meters
Weight: 30 kilograms
Notable Moves: Ice Beam, Yawn, Grass Knot, Surf, Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Hyper Voice, Sleep Talk, Slack Off, Calm Mind, Nasty Plot, Confusion, Psyshock, Slide On-Ice
Name: Slide On-Ice
Power: –
Accuracy: Self
PP: 20
Category: Status
Type: Ice
Effect: Raise user’s Special Attack and Speed by 1 stage each.
Priority: 0
Flags (ex: Contact, Sound): Snatch
Distribution: Dormini, Dortorpor, Ice-type Pokémon with feet like Glaceon, Smoochum line, Galarian Mr. Mime line, Regice and Aurorus
Justification: Gives Special oriented Ice-type Pokémon a push on offensive side.
Flavor/Design: Dortorpor’s eyes are perpetually half-closed, as if always groggy or nearly asleep. The fur also have a pattern of small diamond-shaped patterns around the sides. It casually slides through floor with their feet, and become fully asleep most of the time during winter. Their perpetual rest is due to their eternally cold fur coat that can withstand summer heat.
Potential In-Game Role: Not meant for competitive viability, but it will be something that introduces the player to the Ice-type Pokémon as an early route option without being deadweight in early game.
