Good TV Shows Thread

Modern Family
30 Rock
Arrested Development
Community
New Girl
The Office
How I Met Your Mother
Dexter
Seinfeld

How I Met Your Mother is the best show on TV. It's so easy to get into and follow, and its fucking hysterical. If you wanna go for a show that isnt on TV anymore, you could get DVDs of Batman: The Animated Series, that's such a good show if your into Batman stuff or whatever.

Fringe
Dexter
Game Of Thrones
Modern Family
The Sarah Connor Chronicles (this seriously is the best series ever for me, fuk fox)
The 4400 (it's a better Heroes)
Firefly
Friends

I('ve) watch(ed) a lot more, but these are THE BEST imo

I'm surprised more people on smogon haven't seen The Wire. Certainly number one for me, and anyone who's seen it would definitely put it in his/her top 5.

Dexter. Easily my favourite. White Collar, Family Guy, Southpark, The Dewarists, Big Bang Theory, Kitchen Nightmares UK, Lie To Me, and Castle

How can a TV show thread exist without someone mentioning Spartacus: Blood and Sand? Season 1 is one of the most amazing things in existence.

Also, too much TBBT hate. That show is great.

on a real note,

Twin Peaks is the undisputed greatest tv program of all time. end of story.

I like TBBT along with a few others in this thread;haters gonna hate. It's the only show (besides Criminal Minds and sports) I watch regularly since Heroes got cancelled.

Speaking of Heroes, I loved all of it besides that stupid carnival shit in the last season. I missed one episode and I didn't understand wtf was going on and couldn't stay interested because it was pretty boring too.

I also enjoy South Park, It's Always Sunny, and Regular Show from time to time. I loved Chowder but they cancelled it pretty quickly.

I've been watching Dollhouse recently and have really enjoyed it. The first few episodes are pretty rote, but after that (from season 1 episode 6 onwards, specifically) it gets really, really good, although it's a shame the second season was so rushed due to its impending cancellation.

As a Brit, I feel I ought to mention some of my favourite British TV shows:
Father Ted
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle
Doctor Who
Sherlock
The Prisoner
The Thick of It

Curb Your Enthusiasm is the only TV show I watch with any degree of regularity. The setups, the social commentary, the Larry David - there isn't a sitcom on TV quite like it.

I'm a fan of Everybody Loves Raymond as well. Has a lot of charm to it, and I always tune in on the off-chance I catch some reruns.

Avatar the last airbender
The Mentalist
The Good Wife
Adventure Time
Simpsons (early seasons DERP)
King of the hill (RIP)
Powerpuff girls
Digimon Tamers

Ehh, I'm not a huge fan of cartoons. Johnny Test was the shit, though.

Ok, first of all Johny Test is a pretty recent show, and I believe its still running. It can't be the "The shit." Second of all, its one of the worst cartoons i've ever seen. So fucking bad, it makes me see RED when someone brings it up.

Dexter is such an excellent show.
Shows as of right now:
Dexter
Colbert Report
Always Sunny In Philly
Monk

I wanna watch White Collar but it's not good :( I love the idea though

RIP My Name Is Earl

Impractical Jokers is one of my favorites. It's pretty new and is absolutely hilarious. For anyone who's not heard of it, it's basically 4 life long friends embarrassing each other in public. I forget which city this takes place in, but I'm pretty sure it's in NYC.

Besides that, I love sitcoms like Everybody Loves Raymond, George Lopez, Fresh Prince, and I also enjoy NCIS and MLP:FiM.

Breaking Bad, i am really hyped for the fifth season, but got a bad feeling that they will blow it.
Futurama, some of the new episodes are shitty, but some are great and so are all of the old episodes.
How i met your Mother, the only sitcom i really enjoy.
Skins, i can only advise the first 2 seasons since i disliked the third and didn't watched the following ones, the first two are really great however.
Simpsons, i don't know why everyone is hating on the new episodes i don't think they are so much worse than the old ones.
Big Bang Theory, it's okay but i don`t know why everyone is loving it so much sure some jokes are cool, but in the end it feels too repetitive.
Super Natural, i don't know when exactly the show stopped being great but the first seasons were cool.
Lost, yeah it got really weirder and weirder at the end however i really enjoyed the show. i'm still not sure if i like the end or hate it though.
Sons of Anarchy, i just started the show and so far i like it.

That reminds me, I've been recently watching Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction and it pretty much instantly became a favorite. Are we talking about the same show or is it just a coincidence that they're so similar?
I remember that show, I watched it all the time. Only the name and both being about the supernatural are the only similarities between them. Fact or Faked is sort of like Destination Truth except it's..... better.
Impractical Jokers is one of my favorites. It's pretty new and is absolutely hilarious. For anyone who's not heard of it, it's basically 4 life long friends embarrassing each other in public. I forget which city this takes place in, but I'm pretty sure it's in NYC.
I totally forgot about this show. The first episode had me literally in floor. I don't think I have ever laugh that much at tv show before.

I like TBBT along with a few others in this thread;haters gonna hate. It's the only show (besides Criminal Minds and sports) I watch regularly since Heroes got cancelled.

there's a huge rift between the community fans and the TBBT fans since they're in the same timeslot and community fans generally blame TBBT for taking a lot of their viewers

i do personally watch both shows and i do believe that community is far, far funnier

i don't dislike TBBT though. it does occasionally have some witty moments but most of the time it feels like they're force-feeding you references and overusing the laugh track and the fact that "these guys are nerds and you should laugh at their nerdy things"

as i said before, i feel like TBBT is like the XKCD of tv shows. occasionally it's funny but it's got a large crowd who dislike it because it's pretentious and it's forced

on the other hand community is much more like PBF, hark a vagrant, etc (if we're continuing the webcomic motif here). the comedy is much more subtle, occasionally dry, and overall classier.

also troy & abed

Avatar the last airbender
fjaskdlhds i cannot WAIT for korra to come out

AtLA is a PERFECT animated series

too bad they never made a movie out of it

I don't really care about any of the others to be honest. History Channel makes good documentary-style programming.

The Big Bang Theory is humour for the masses. Lowest common denominator and all that. Community is a cleverer sort of humour. I like both types and I enjoy both shows =)

As far as dramas go, you can't go wrong with AMC really. Breaking Bad is on a whole other level from most of television. If that's too intense for you, I like the earlier suggestion of Firefly for a good short series that is very interesting.
