Good TV Shows Thread

House and Suits...

all others are unwatchable for me, though the second season of Lost is orgasmically good. Life is also excellent even though it got cancelled (scumbag networks).

Now the best TV is British TV obviously: Red Dwarf is fucking fantastic (about a cat, a halogram, and some others living on a massive spaceship). IT crowd is good as well.

Shameless plug for true blood, it's like /b on a good day: a perfect stream of interesting plot mixed with porn.

Also if you like getting high and watching anime: jungle wa itsumo hare nochi guu

REALLY? Two pages and no mention of probably the funniest show on TV right now? The League is about a fantasy football league while simultaneously being about everything but a fantasy football league. That's honestly the best way to describe it. A bunch of 30-something professionals are super serious about their fantasy football league and crazy shenanigans and Jon Lajoie and etc etc etc

If you do nothing else this weekend, watch Season 1 Epsiode 4, and then watch all the other episodes.

Dexter yeah!!!

And I watched this show called The Lost Room, its only like 3 episodes but I thought it was fun.

also +1 himym

Weeds is one of my new favorites, I don't know what that means. Breaking Bad even though its like the mirror of weeds is also awesome. I've been watching House forever and still love it. NBC's Thursday night is the best thing on television. Fringe is amazing, and overlooked. Arrested is obviously the best. Dexter is great. Lie to Me is pretty cool.

The first season of Prison Break is my favorite piece of media. If you didn't watch it when it aired on Fox I suggest you guys check it out on Netflix. The 2nd is okay too but after that the show just turns to shit. Breaking Bad is pretty amazing as well, and you can say that about every season. I can't wait until the 5th one comes out, definitely one of the best shows that's ever been made. Also agreeing with Oglemi, King of the Hill is hilarious. I've never watched it while high, but the subtleness of the jokes makes it even more enjoyable when you get what they're poking fun at.

Top Gear is IMO the best show on television, especially if you are a gearhead. If not, it's still hilarious, and if you take anything from this thread you should go watch some of their challenges on their site.

My list of favorite shows also includes Futurama, the X-Files, and Rob & Big / Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, it's nice to see a celebrity enjoying their life on TV without being a complete douchebag. Tosh.0 is one that's always entertaining because Tosh is not afraid to make the most crude/vulgar scenes possible.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is the funniest show on TV. Every episode is hilarious and you don't need to start at the beginning if you don't want to because the episodes are only loosely correlated story-wise. You won't miss out on jokes if you haven't paid attention relgiously.

Also, Archer is the funniest cartoon I've seen in a while and it's the same deal. It's also coming back for its third season soon. I'd recommend the episode "Skytanic" the most

EDIT: Big Bang Theory - absolutely amazing writing and cast, definitely one of the shows you need to watch at least once.

You are the first person I've ever seen either IRL or online admit to liking this show. You have some courage, my friend.

You might want to check out Firefly. It's only got 14 episodes due to being cancelled so quickly, but the premature cancellation is one of the most criticized decisions ever made. It's as if you take a Wild West culture and put it in spaceships.

I'd also back The League. It originally turned me off because I don't watch football, but I watched it once and it's funny as hell, you can tell they're football addicts, but you don't have to be one yourself to get the jokes.

Yee rec'd the X-Files, I completely forgot about that because it's so old. But if you have time, I would definitely watch the first five seasons of that. It's incredibly creepy and unbelievably good.

I'm a sucker for comedy-drama, so I'd have to say House, Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother, that kind of thing. Shows like Bones and The Finder are pretty good as well.

i never really watched how i met your mother, and I saw like one episode and have been catching up, watching like 3 or 4 episodes a day since.
house is also pretty decent but I can only be bothered to watch one or two episodes a month because it is so formulaic.

tbqh I mostly watch cartoons though -.-
futurama, king of the hill, regular show, adventure time, and my little pony: friendship is magic are all really great
american dad has really gotten its shit together in the last couple of seasons, if you're into that in your face sort of humor.

Might as well bandwagon The Big Bang Theory. If you have decent background in nerd/geek culture it's excellent, an there are enough jokes through the situations that it doesn't exclude the other crowd.

Firefly is excellent despite being only 14 episodes long.

Community is a brilliant show. If Big Bang Theory was XKCD, then Community would be PBF.

The Sherlock miniseries on BBC One is also excellent.

Thirding Doctor Who, the premise does seem cheesy but it mixes a bit from most genres like action/romance/horror oh god don't make me get started on the horror; in short, worth checking out.

Weeds is one of my new favorites, I don't know what that means.

Weeds was great! And then it tanked around the third or fourth season and never really got back on its feet. I watched the whole series in one go last year and the setting changes really are what killed it for me. NOT looking forward to season 7, though I will definitely watch it heh...

I love Dexter and 30 Rock as well. Dexter's very darkly humorous and stupendously written. Well, every other season it is, anyways haha. 30 Rock is funny and appeals to my sense of humor. I liked it better in earlier seasons, but that's true of most television programs I enjoy. Modern Family is another program that I recently got into and watched through in a few sittings.

Watched one episode of The Middle and I kind of liked it. I am gonna watch the new episode on Wednesday and see how that turns out.

I used to like Heroes, but again...tanked after Season 2, and even then most people hate S2. It's a shame, really, given how good S1 was...

I am not a big fan of Big Bang Theory at ALL. I don't dislike it, but it just never blows me out of the water or makes me laugh especially hard. It's funny, but not funny enough for me to actively seek out watching it.

I want to watch the League and Breaking Bad but haven't gotten around to it. Hard to imagine Hal from Malcolm in the Middle as a badass...

The first season of Prison Break is my favorite piece of media.

afuckingmen, and I'd include the first seasons of Lost and The Walking Dead in that as well

these days the only thing I watch regularly is The Walking Dead, but it's kinda fell off a little
