I'm happy, my teachers think I'm a bit over confident now :9. lol I just studied for a month before the exams so I was surprised when I got that much. Also this is what we have in 7TH Grade IN INDIA. YES, IT IS ******* HARD.

I graduated university with just over 3.4. I only got dragged down a little by a C in Spanish. I did a little better in community college at 3.65, but when you transfer it's pretty much all high-tier courses in your major and minor.

To be honest if I worked harder I probably could have gotten it back up to 3.65, but I was enjoying other elements of college life at the time and just chilling out.

I would much rather have that! The only upside to having +'s and -'s is that if you get a B you have a shot at getting a B+, which is a 3.3 instead of a 3.0. I don't like getting a 3.7 because i got a 93 instead of a 94.

I guess we are both seeing things as better on the opposite side haha hmm...I guess since I do not usually know what I get on finals, maybe I would be hurt by partial grades, but I am pretty sure most of my Bs are high Bs

I have no idea what this gpa stuff is but last year I got

A*: French, Maths, Economics, Geography, History, Chemistry and Physics
A: Biology ( fucked up the end of year test but I got 100% in the unit test that actually counts), English Lit and Lang and Religious Studies (complete bullshit)

how come you get separate science grades? im assuming you are doing triple award GCSE

also well done for even bothering to turn up to the RE exam lol

nah Basics im not on semesters, we do all 8 courses all year. The three maths are all seperate courses (Functions, Calc+Vectors and Data Management). I'm actually only in grade 11 but I take the grade 12 functions course cause im genius like that. I do little to no math homework, I just get it most of the time by paying attention in class.

And yeah I write all those contests too, I actually won the bronze in the U of Waterloo contest last year at my school.

I checked in all the posts and nobody explained how the GPA scoring works. So, at the risk of sounding like an idiot, I'd appreciate someone highlighting exactly what "getting a GPA of x" means.

Why'd you post this a second time, with only like two posts seperating this and the original?

Your GPA tells you what your grade point average is. Based on what the maximum GPA is, it basically tells you how your doing overall in school. In many areas, the maximum GPA is a 4.0, i.e straight A+'s, although it is not uncommon for the maximum GPA to be 4.5 or 5.0, just depends on what that particular school uses. The average grade itself doesn't change, since its just a percent, so a 3.8 out of 4.0 is about equal to 4.28. Depending on how many classes you take, each class will be worth a certain amount of points. So for instance, my schools GPA are out of 4.5 and I take eight classes in all. This makes it, not sure how but eh, so that the difference between an A and an A+ is 0.06 points, -'s aren't used. Hope this clears things up a bit.

more like ap physics b is pretty gay how the fuck do you have a 100 in it o_O

i work harder in that class and do all the work and shit and actually pay attention probably more than every other class combined. ;(

the material isn't that bad it's just the tests and quizzes are so gay because the teacher just takes questions from old ap tests that suck. whenever he makes them up theyre easy.

i enjoy physics a lot, so i find it easy to do well in the class. also, we don't get too many ap questions, the teacher usually writes the stuff himself.

AP Physics C was so awesome all we did was study equations then watch videos about string theory and stuff

X-Act, in a univeristy, a GPA works like a 90-100 is an A is a 4.0, 80-89 is a B is a 3.0, 70-79 is a C is a 2.0, a 60-69 is a D is a 1.0, and an F is 0-59 is a 0.0. This can also vary - I think how it works when you have partial credit is like an A+ is a 4.0 an A is a 3.66 an A- is a 3.33 and so on going down (but I do not have this form of grading so I may be presuming incorrectly!)

and that other guy was explaining high school gpa and that varies by school district pretty much

4.0 is an A. (anywhere from a 89.5 to 100)
3.0 is a B. (anywhere from 79.5 to 89.5)
2.0 is a C.
1.0 is a D.

Anything over a 4.0 means you're taking a weighted course. Different schools do weighting differently (at my high school, honors classes had 1 point of weighting while AP classes had 2).

My GPA for this semester was 2.6. I was honestly expecting a 3.0, but I did badly on one of the finals and for some reason got a C in another class that I was expecting a B in.

Right now I think I have ~2.70, but I'm in mechanical engineering. Because of that when I compare my gpa to people with easy majors I add 2 points to make up the gap in difficulty, so I have a 4.70

Yeah I am, I've also found that the new spec is complete and utter bullshit, basically trying to brainwash people about global warming, contraception, cloning etc.

And some of the questions in my RS mock were complete nonsense e.g. "describe how humans differ from animals". Fucking hell, I can understand why people prefer to employ immigrants when in the UK you give out qualifications for nothing

Currently, I have:

German 3: 94%
Precalc: 87%
Biology: 99%
Symphonic Band: 95%
English: 86% (my teacher sucks, she tests stuff we haven't learned)
Global Issues: 99%

Math and Band are .4, everything else is .3 except Global Issues (.2)

I skipped 2 grades in math so its getting a little hard for me. I used to have a 4.3 GPA but once i enter my Junior year i expect my gpa to seriously drop.
Next year is BC Calculus :( .

In my school, this is how the grading scale works:

.4 class =5.0 for an A
.3 class =4.6 for an A

4.0=A
3.6=A-
3.4=B+
3.0=B
2.6=B-
2.4=C+
2.0=C

My last marking period (year-end freshman) I had a 3.7. I presume my grades will be much higher this semester (semester 1 sophomore) because I completely raped all my exams and I'm not taking health (where my teacher hated my guts and gave me bad grades because of it).

Our school's cross country team has somewhere around an average GPA of 3.8x to 3.9x. Don't ask me why.

And in terms of non GPA grades, I have this (pre-exam factor).

German: 97%
English: 94%
Algebra II: 88%
Adv. Chemistry: A (no %)
Band: A (no % but it would be way over 100)
Adv. World History II: 85%

=P

Bleh, I have a semestered school, so I only really know my marks from mid-term unless I've gotten an update, so I'm just going to post 4 marks, well because I only have 4 subjects, heh darn me and being Canadian. :P

Anyways, as far as I know:

English Grade 11 U - 84% or so
Spanish Grade 11 U - 87%
Ancient History Grade 11 M - 87%
Chemistry Grade 11 U - 83%

Heh, those grades are all right. I could be doing so much better, but I never do ANY homework in any of my classes unless it's going to be handed in, so I'm pretty much always behind. Ah well, I think I'm doing pretty damn good for sleeping in class all day every day...

i enjoy physics a lot, so i find it easy to do well in the class. also, we don't get too many ap questions, the teacher usually writes the stuff himself.

our teacher wrote an AP style question for us during the year and we decided to come up with the most interesting answers we could think of because none of us even knew where to begin. physics is a love/ hate class. you start to love it and then someone decides to mindfuck you over and over again because of one variable...god damn i miss that class

I'm slowly nursing my wounded GPA back to life. I flunked hard freshman first semester and then made ABBC the second semester in addition to high school AP credits to bring it up to a 2.17 so I didn't get kicked out.

This semester I got BBBB which I'm pretty happy about. English Lit (state mandated), Matrix Math, Java, and Computer Logic were my four classes. GPA is now up to 2.36.

Quick you mathematicians, how much did I have to transfer in to have four B's raise my GPA by only .19? ^_^
I don't mind that my grades are not stellar, I'm finally in a major I enjoy (Computer Science as opposed to Mechanical Engineering) and I actually don't mind the projects and assignments given. Go figure.

i have the lowest GPA i had seen in this tread, this semester i got 1.87, lol

but last semester i got 3.7, so it kind of get even with last semester
