Hardest video game level/boss you've ever faced

The hardest boss I've faced would have to be Boost Guardian in Metroid Prime 2. The fight seemed to be more about luck than anything and he never seemed to destroy the towers for health when I needed him too. I got thrashed by him a boatload of times but what was weird was that when I finally beat him, I didn't lose much health. Even when you know what to do, it's still hard
Was he harder in the original version or something? I have Metroid Prime Trilogy, and I kicked his ass without even losing a bar of health.

Is this even feasible for like, a normal person? I plan on hopefully beating Level 1 Jonathan/Charlotte at some point because you can at least get good equipment and stuff, but I find it difficult to fathom doing this in the other game modes.
LVL 1 Jonathan and Charlotte is super easy as long as you can pick up an Ancient Armor. (Each hit deals 10% of your health - as long as you're not at a max HP number divisible by ten, it will take 11 hits to kill you, which is honestly pretty generous even in normal mode.) Doing it without it is tough though.

Old Axe Armor mode is a douche because you can't heal or use items and your only projectile attack is a throwing axe. Your regular axe also has poor range. >.>

And @ Gen Empoleon - Honestly the Giygas battle had more of an impact on me since it was just plain freaky, but Mother 3's ending was so soul crushing...

I played Poisonous Pipeline the other day. I'm a little rusty with the classic controller, but the only hard part I tried rushing the shit out of it. If you take it at a steady pace (and get your Swordfish buddy), you should be alright. For extra shits and giggles, you get a free Life Up assuming you have Enguarde at the checkpoint barrel. Not hard to get to the N either.

I'm sure it has been posted before, but I really had a tough time with Whitney's Miltank in GSC.

And until now I haven't completed my Final Fantasy IX, IV, and my Dragon Quest X, because I can't beat the final battle.

I remembered another bastard from my childhood

Eyedol from Killer Instinct

That fucker in the hardest difficult is just a God, it Combo Breaks everything you do, seriously, you connect 3 hits and "C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!" daaaamn you Eyedol!

Lol Eyedol, the only way I could beat him on the hardest difficulty was to get just 1 combo on him with Cinder (He won't even attempt to block the first combo) then commence to run from him until time runs out. xD

Also Rolling thunder for the NES, that final boss was a pain in the ass.

Penance in FFX

Ozma in FFIX hi I'll just pull 3 consecutive turns out of my ass, heal to full and cast Meteor

Rusty Bucket Bay's engine room in Banjo Kazooie - the life eater

Destroying X-ATM092 outright in the Dollet mission in FFVIII

Bart Vs. the Space Mutants on amiga was rock solid

Ikaruga on Insane difficulty

Eyedol was pretty dickish mainly because he'd spam combo breaker all over the damn place and his attacks had insane range. Never thought of time stalling though.

Star Wars Battlefront II Campaign, Hoth on Elite difficulty. The bots are much more aggressive on your AT-ATs on elite and they can even cable tow them within the first 2 minutes. The reinforcements are pretty low and with FF on it's easy to accidentally hit one or two in the AT-AT. When you have to capture the hangar it's pretty much you vs. ~10 bots at once because of the bad bot paths for the Empire at that point(why are they still in turrets god damn). Engi or if you get really awesome shots then Sniper or Officer are the only classes that can really put a dent in the hangar defense at all... and then once you're past that all it takes is a lucky grenade or two, or a well-placed dish turret shot, or focused autoturret fire for a split second, to lose your hero character.

Yeah, Ozma's a dick. Sure his HP is comparitively low when set alongside other bonus bosses, but he more than makes up for it by nuking the everloving hell out of your party.

Also, Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 on Master Ninja mode can go rot for all I care. Never again.

edit: omg didn't realize that Rusty Bucket Bay was mentioned like 5 posts above mine. Glad someone else shares my pain!!

Boba Fett in Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire was pretty fucking hard. IG-88 is a close second since it moves so quickly, but its attacks aren't terribly killer.

I also get stuck on Rusty Bucket Bay in Banjo-Kazooie. There's this part where you're deep inside the ship and you have to navigate through spinning fans and cogs. One wrong step and you fall into oblivion. You have to activate two switches to stop the back rotor of the ship from spinning so you can grab the puzzle piece, but it only gives you 60 seconds to make your way back through the fans, up to the surface of the ship, then to the back of the ship, where you have to swim through sludge water (drains your oxygen 2x, and 1x just on the surface) and down into the fan before it starts up again. I pulled it off last night, but after I picked up the jiggy, the fan started up again and I died. Luckily, you keep any items you collect (except music notes, but at least those are saved to your record) when you die. To make things worse, there's this humongous TNT box in a different part of the ship. You have to break it by shooting eggs at it. It will usually break after 4 eggs, but it divides into two smaller boxes. This keeps happening until the boxes are tiny and jumping all around you. You only get max 200 eggs, and I was left at 20 eggs and 2 health by the end. Luckily the next level is Click Clock Woods which is one of the most fun, challenging, and charming levels in gaming history.

Also, as mentioned before, Shadow Temple in OoT can suck it for all I care.

The two bosses for the Oracle of Ages/Seasons were tough but not all that.. em... The Helmaroc King in Link to the Past was a dick. The Nihilanth from Half Life stands out merely because of the games profound lack of indication that without shooting the crystals dotted around the place (which show no sign of damage until you pump 6 shots into them, when they explode) The Nihilanth will just regenerate invisibly. Not a hard fight but a dickish one.

In super smash bros brawl, tabuu on intense was so damn annoying. He had this one attack he'd do with his wings that killed you EVERY TIME if you didn't dodge it.

I agree, Tabuu could get pretty annoying, depending on who you used to fight him. The Gloves in the other games were so much easier D:.

I think it was in MMBN4, the last boss was really challenging for me. Probably wasn't all that difficult but looking back it's the only one I remember celebrating when I finished it...

Final Fantasy 5 remake for gameboy. Omega mkII, Neo Shinryu, and enuo.
If you've played the game then you will understand my frustration, thank goodness the first two were optional (enuo, despite being immortal, was the easiest, as well as the only one I could kill).

Fighting to the bottom of the Cave of Ordeals with only 3 heartpieces in Twilight Princess.

My hands were numb, sweaty, and shaking when I was down to one quarter heart, facing three Darknuts on the 49th floor. Took me a full week of prep and failed attempts to make it the whole way through. I've never played anything like that before.

As a reference of difficulty, I didn't die a single time (outside of the Cave of Ordeals) in my entire "three-heartpiece-runthrough" of Twilight Princess. Not even against Zant or Ganon. But the Cave of Ordeals took me a full week.

Speaking of Twilight Princess, that fucking escort mission. You know, the one with the caravan which sucks balls at actually moving properly, flying enemies which are impossible to hit and a boomerang that supposedly extinguishes the caravan but just bounces off things instead.

I stopped playing Twilight Princess because of that horrible piece of shit.

That mission is a bitch. Why are the people in that cart too dumb to do anything at all? I know the first time it took me a week. I just played TP about a week ago and I managed it in two attempts, lol. Those bomb-dropping Kargaroks can go die in a fire.
