One thing I want to make sure of.

So the Masuda Method. I know how it works last gen. This gen, though, everyone can change their language. So what happens with my game, which is JP cartridge but is in English language? If I try and breed my own Torchic with one from an American game, will the Masuda Method work?

Been breeding about a boxful of Torchics and nothing has happened, though that's not indicative of anything at all.

It's based off of language, and not the region of the cartridge afaik. I've traded Pokemon from my Y with is being played in Japanese to ones being played in English, and the game considers it a Japanese Pokemon.

How exactly do you know though? As in, how do you know that the region isn't being considered when breeding?

If true though, damn that sucks. At least I got a 5 IV Jolly Speed Boost Torchic while I was trying to Masuda it up. Might as well try with a JP Language Larvitar I got off of Wonder trade a while ago next.

Fire Fang is an Egg move. You can reteach Egg moves this gen.

I was specifically talking about level up moves. i.e., if for some reason Bagon learned Fire Fang during level up but Salamence did not, if you go to the Move relearner you will not be able to relearn Fire Fang. In my example, Cloyster does not learn Razor Shell by level up, so it cannot relearn it. I should have probably worded the explanation better.

Well I'm still confused, but for future refference here's what I just did.

I'm EV training/Leveling a Tyrantrum right now, it has four egg moves. I never let it learn Crunch, I just passed on it to keep it's four egg moves.

Scared, because it's not my 'Mon, I went to the move reminder to check... It can still learn it again. Same goes for egg move I re-tought it.

I think what's getting you confused is that you can move reminder moves that it learns by leveling and egg moves, and for the most part, higher evolutions have the same level-up moves as the lower evolutions. What it can't relearn are moves that only it's pre-evo learned. For example, if both Tyrunt and Tyrantrum learn Crunch, then both Tyrunt and Tyrantrum can have that move remindered. But say you have a Shroomish with Spore. Breloom does not learn Spore by level up, so if you learned it and then got rid of it either before or after it evolved into a Breloom, once it's a Breloom, Spore cannot be move remindered because Breloom doesn't learn it by leveling up, only Shroomish.

Hello!

I just want to know if someone knows how to get the "Pokeradar operator" medal. It sais that I have to record the data of 10 pkm but I dont know how to do that. I tried by going to the Pokemon Laboratory and record the data of the pokemon that the scientific on the first floor asks for during 10 days, but nothing. How can I exactly achieve this?

Thank you!

I've asked this thrice, and if I still don't get an answer. Well...

After breeding a Dragon Dance Fraxure and a Flare Blitz Charmander, the offspring only inherited Flare Blitz. Is it impossible to get two egg moves at once?

I have a question about EVs and I think there was a thread about this a few days ago but I'm not able to find it so I guess it got deleted.

How do EVs affect the actual stat of a Pokemon at Level 50?
I perfectlty know about it on Level 100 but since online battles are Level 50 I think that's important to know so I don't waste those valuable EVs where they don't matter...

No it should not be. Make sure both have the correct moves and neither have been forgotten while breeding. I am pretty sure Charmander can have both moves at once. Also: If someone does not answer it might mean that no one knows. So go do some research about it.

I believe that at Level 50 8EV's equate to 1 stat point as opposed to 4. So you might have to get a little more creative with the Lv 50 EV spreads.

Ok I checked that in the honkalculator I found minutes ago (I'm new and did not know this thing existed, sorry for that) and somehow 4 EVs on Level 50 did actually matter and gave 1 point in the respective stat. I don't know how accurate that calculator is but since it's on Showdown and Smogon is on Showdown I thought it could be valid. Thoughts?

If Dragonite gets a Mega Evolution, what will its Mega Stone be called? Dragonitite?

Also I'm not sure but if I remember correctly the baby can only inherit the father's moves so you'd need to chain breed or find a pokemon with both moves.

In the damage calculation there's a factor like (IV+EV/4)*lvl/100, so if lvl=100 4EV=1 stat point, while if lvl=50 you have to calculate IV/2+EV/8. Since this number is rounded down, I'll give you a numeric example hoping to simplify the explanation:
- if IV=31 (in general, odd IV) then IV/2=15.5 (not an integer) so if you put 8EV you have the stat increased by 15.5+1=16.5 which is rounded down to 16 and you waste EVs, because putting 4EV results in 15.5+0.5=16
- if IV=30 (in general, even IV) then IV/2=15 (an integer) so if you put 8EV you have the stat increased by 15+1=16

tl;dr/rule of thumb to not waste EV points: if IV=odd use 4+8N EVs, if IV=even use 8N EVs

Mums can now pass down moves as well, this is why Belly Jet Azu is now legal.

JoshuaMunoz I know of people who do have DD Charmanders. This is an egg move 100%. I have spoken to people who have passed it down from Dragonite. Charizard also gets Flare Blitz as a Heart Scale move, so concentrate on Dragon Dance.

Since when? Well I skipped Gen 5 and I just now bought a 3DS (doing a system update right now) to play Pokemon X so that would explain a lot.

Also to have some more purpose for this post, what are the IV breeding related changes in this gen compared to the previous ones besides that Friend Safari pokemon will have at least 2 perfect IVs?

Really sorry bout that. The Charmander I got was from a previous breed between two Charmanders instead of the Fraxure (i accepted the egg from the day care man after IV checking in Kiloude and egg hatching in Lumiouse if that makes sense). I haven't been playing for 3 days lol >_>

And yes I already got my DD / FB Charms c:

Mums can pass down Attacks since XY.

Friend Safari Pokemon as you said (at least 2 IVs on 31)
Baby Pokemon have at least 3 perfect IV when caught.
The item Destiny Knot can be held by one parent while breeding to pass down 5 IVs of both parents, this allowes us to get flawless IVs in shorter times

Of both parents? 10 IVs picked for selection where the higher ones are applied or just any 5 IVs out of the 12?

And what do you mean "Baby Pokemon" isn't that a term for the hatchlings? How would you catch them?

Since Gen 6... We only discovered it by accident so...

Check out and read this: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/breeding-perfect-pokemon-in-pokemon-x-y.3491104/ it should be able to help you out. Come back here with any questions you might have :)

@ The Above question by baby Pokemon he means stuff like Mantyke, Mime Jr., Riolu, Budew or Azurill (These can be found in the wild). They always have 3 perfect IVs (As well as any legendaries and Nidorina). Its 5 of the 12 IVs.

So legs won't be as painful to reset? That's nice! Thanks for all the answers guys!

Two more questions:

Is there any reward for completing the local Pokedex in Gen 6? I remember getting a Cyndaquil for finishing the Hoenn dex in Emerald.

The guide you lead me to mentions having Magma Armor/Flame Body at any part of your party, but if memory serves right the pokemon had to be my lead. Was that changed too?

Afaik 5 IVs out of the 12 (I'm breeding atm, so this seems to be the rule that applies)

Baby Pokemon like Riolu, Azurill, Chingling -> Babyforms that cannot breed/have to evolve to breed.

NINJA'D!!!

1. You get a charm that makes egg creation quicker. As in, Pokemon make eggs more quickly when in the daycare.

2. It doesn't have to be your lead anymore, right.
