HGSS Megaspeculation Thread

You make zero sense. First, Johto IS programmed in DPPt, but it doesn't have to do with Pal Park in this case, obviously. It's so that pokémon caught in Johto won't show up as "Mystery Zone". Second, this DSi camera pic in something that looked like Pokétch is a fake. And third, why would which generation came first matter? Pal Park has nothing to do with that, but with migration instead. They could perfectly put a Pal Park somewhere in HGSS so pokémon from Hoenn can migrate to Kanto/Johto. Simple.

And lastly, as far as I know, by the time G/S were released, the Game Boy Color was already being sold, but did it mean non-GBC users couldn't play the new games? No. They just wouldn't see all the cool colors, but that wasn't that essential to the games, just like the Pal Park now, but in the inverse way. DSi-only owners (I believe a lot of people with a DSi still have access to a working old DS) won't have a use to it, but would they really care?

actually im pretty sure g/s/c were gameboy color only? or was that just crystal.

Yea, I just took that into consideration, it doesnt matter what generation came first... I just thought about htat

And Honestly, this is very unlikely basically you are implying that every generation/new game should be able to migrate from another generation. I mean look at FR/LG, should they have had the Time Machine? Should Hoenn be able to migrate Johto pokemon from G/S/C? I just think that they won't have it but everyone should be able to state their opinion :/. I won't argue anymore, if you think that there'll be a HG/SS Palpark, that's your opinion and I respect it, I just don't agree with it. We shall see in the future.

Longevity is comparable to pokewalker or following pokemon - it's good just for pokefans. If you're looking for storyline or a RPG experience, there games better than pokemon.

I believe most teens/adults buy pokemon for competitive playing. Other than that, we have the huge amount of kids, which seems to keep the franchise alive. About legendaries, there's nothing Wi-Fi can't handle.

Still, I may wind up buying it due to nostalgia, since GS times were literally gold >_>

They aren't going to release Celebi on DPP, I can almost 100% assure you of that. Nintendo/Gamefreak want money, why not make profit off some little kids buying a game to get a pokemon?

I am 16, but this doesn't necessarily mean I play pokemon for the competitive aspect. When I am on here and on shoddy battle, sure, but you must understand that ingame isn't an ideal metagame, with OHKO moves legal, no sleep clause, etc. Shit, I don't even play it for move tutors, since I would rather go on shoddy for this. I play because the games are fun-simple as that, and that fun is ageless.

Ok,Ok, since i've seen dozens of dozens of posts like this I think we can all come to a conclusion that Nintendo has no interest/doesn't care/ or is possibly un-aware of the competitve pokemon community. We know this is just for the money, seriously. I'm not trying to mini-mod, it's just really annoying having people post countless comments like this.

The Johto starters best get some upgrades. >:)

Hopefully not as bad as the elemental beams, but I am sure they will. They have naturally been upgraded as the mechanics have progressed. I am hoping Entei(off topic of quote) can get Flare Blitz/Sacred Fire, then I might consider using him.

Hell yes.
Typhlosion gets thunderbolt to replace t-punch. Kill some bulky waters. Oh and close combat. Good luck Blissey!
Typhlosion with sacred fire=awesome
(As you can see I love typhlosion.)

Meganuim gets sleep powder. Graswhistle never fuckin hits!

Feraligatr already has a decent movepool, but stine edge might be nice. Oh, and give him nasty plot. He has decent speciel attack, and a good speciel movepool. Can mix sweep: Feraligatr @ life orb; Nasty Plot, Hydro Pump, Superpower, Ice Beam.

What does anyone else think about the Lati@s in this game? What else is there to talk about? We need to get off the subject of pal park.
How about we discuss if we think and crystal features will return. Extreemespeed dratini anyone?

EDIT: Just saw the video from pokemon sunday where the egg from aceus "hatched". From the way you people were talking about it, I expected it to stop right when it flashed open. It stops just after a single crack. (Then the guy next to pichu starts screaming like a little girl -_-) Doesn't seem like they're "preventing" you from seeing it. You guys are overreacting and looking for clues that aren't there. We all need to slow down and move on to a different subject.

EDIT 2: I think it was mentioned earlier in the thread about the possibility of a skateboard for use? Do you guys think this is possible at all? If not, do you think they'll bring back the acro and mach bikes, along with bike specific areas?

EDIT 3: I hope to god they don't bring back the match call. I was replaying my emerald the other day, and I kept getting calls from random people saying "I won a battle yeah goodbye" or, "I saw <pokemon>, and tried to catch it but it got away! Darn! Gotta try harder next time! See ya!"

3rd gen had hardware issues with 2nd gen. This obviously isn't the case with gen 3 and 4. Not saying there will or won't be a Pal Park in HG/SS, because it honestly go either way.

Anyway, I have a feeling that Crystal-only features (like Extremespeed Dratini) won't be included. The possiblity to obtain the three Kanto starters in Yellow wasn't included in FR/LG. I hope they aren't as strict about the "remake" factor as they were with FR/LG though. The levels need to be higher, Team Rocket needs more involvement, Houndour/Murkrow/Misdrevous/Larvitar/Slugma need to be available before Kanto, as does Metal Coat.

Kanto shouldn't be a "dead" Kanto either. I remember getting to Cinnabar Island when I was like 8 and going "wtf". Team Rocket in Kanto would be nice.

Oh, I'd give up Kanto for a deeply expanded Johto though. Everybody and their parents have been to Kanto 10+ times. It's getting old.

They have screwed Dragonite long enough now. He either needs Extremespeed or a new ability that is the equivalent of Intimidate for special attack. The former is more probable.

Personally I don't see Extremespeed being as useful as everybody thinks. I mean sure for CB sets but other then that, Normal is a bad attacking type and it already has Dragon Dance/Agility/Choice Scarf. A base 80 priority move probably wouldn't change much for the dragon.

I love Dragonite and all, and Extremespeed is better than nothing, but it WAS Crystal-only.

I think that ES would be a blessing for Dragonite, competitively talking. It would make a CB set more viable and would be extremely useful to have on the mixed attacker set too - to finish off a weakened faster foe. ES would be definitely a good argument to prefer Dragonite over Salamence in some cases.

And Honestly, this is very unlikely basically you are implying that every generation/new game should be able to migrate from another generation.

Not really, but this time we can't trade pokémon from one generation to another, they gave us the Pal Park instead to migrate them to the newest generation. As both DPPt and HGSS are DS games that happen after RSE and FRLG, and the former three have the Pal Park already, there's no reason to not have it in the latter two besides "it didn't exist back then". Then again, we already know there will be new areas in those remakes (and we didn't even see Kanto yet!), so that point is moot.

I mean look at FR/LG, should they have had the Time Machine?

Time Machine for what? GSC pokémon? Not possible, due to the reason below.

Should Hoenn be able to migrate Johto pokemon from G/S/C?

Hoenn couldn't have a Pal Park function because the pokémon data was completely different in GSC than it is now. I'm sure that, if there was a way, they'd have done so.

I just think that they won't have it but everyone should be able to state their opinion :/.

Of course, but when you state in on a forum, you are expected to weight it with proof, or hypothesis that what will say won't happen. What I said is that it doesn't make sense to not have a Pal Park due to which generation came first, as what matters most are timelines (HGSS will happen after RSE/FRLG and, as it's about migrating, the pokémon may take all the time in the world to get where they need to).

I won't argue anymore

Sorry if I sounded like that, but I was just discussing.

Meganuim gets sleep powder. Graswhistle never fuckin hits!

I'd rather have it learning Spore =)

Dragonite would be a damn good lead with Extremespeed. I hope I don't get infracted, but I just wanted to explain myself. With a Sash, Dragonite can beat every other lead out there(for the most part). Draco Meteor + Extremespeed beats any suicide leads(Infernape, Aerodactyl, Azelf), while Fire Blast 2HKOs Metagross and Jirachi(who can't flinch you, :)). Earthquake deals with Heatran, who is in a lower speed tier, 2HKOing factoring Shuca. Naive nature grants you a speed tie with Jolly Mamo, who is beaten by Fire Blast + Extremespeed. So, yes, Extremespeed would be a blessing for Dragonite. Oh yeah, Swampert is 2HKOed by Draco Meteor.

Note: Almost any other move(other than a new one) that is plausible for Dragonite would still make him less useful than Salamence. ES would give him a great niche in the lead spot.

Last comment before I leave, what'd be really cool in HG/SS if(and I'm only saying this because we are now able to have pokemon follow us) we could actually see the pokemon we were surfing on. We've only been able to see a Lapras sprite or a Ball. It'd be awesome if you could actually see yourself riding your Wailord or Kingdra lol. And if we could see the pokemon we were flying on, that'd be pretty cool too.

Anti lead nite? I like the sound of that.

MY guess for the pal park is that it will be there so you can migrate pokemon from RSE and FRLG, just in case someone has HGSS and not DPP.

i have thought about this, but, what would it look like if pidgey was flying you?, or if you were surfing on horsea? Sure it would be really cool to see you flying on salamence, or pidgeot, or surfing on swampert, but it would be weird to see surfing on horsea and pidgey,.

I thought about this too, I'm sure stupid pokemon that don't deserve the moves will probably not be able to be seen flying/transporting you on water.

*coughdoduousingflycough*

I really hope they bring back the berserk gene. Althoguh the confusion is a turn-off, maybe Lickilicky or purugly could run a set with it.

I think showing the pokemon using surf is long overdue, and would be a cool feature.

ExtremeSpeed'd be even good for DD to pick of Ice Sharders and random very fast scarfers, but then again you'll have to take care of Skarmory/Bronzong with another Pokemon.

Yes, that is the problem, 4 moveslot syndrome. Unlike Lucario, who can boost once and smash through nearly any steel type with Close Combat, Dragonite needs to be aiding his main STAB, Outrage/Dragon Claw. This means Fire + Ground, or Magnezone support + Ground, are musts. Unfortunately, many Skarmory run Shed Shell, so you need a surprise Tricker or Knock Offer before you impliment that. I really think the best way to go with Extremespeed is the lead spot, or even on the mixed sweeper, which typically has an empty filler slot for Roost / Thunderbolt anyways.

I for one am wondering if any new move tutors will be added to these games. FR / LG did, so I don't see why these games couldn't - Nasty Plot tutor comes to mind...

Yeah, lead/mix/CB with ES would be the best, indeed, but it's still available for DD, like bulky DD nite ES DD nite needs a teammate to take care of Skarm/Zong, which is manageable if Skarm's eliminated someway or another.

True. However, with a Pokemon like Dragonite, the opponent will probably try to scout the set before making any bold decisions. And lack of Superpower on that set can lead to walling problems. What I guess I'm trying to say is that Extremespeed wouldn't make as big a splash as some people may think (again, base 80 normal attack). It has 8 PP iirc, which can lead to trouble vs Pressure. Maybe with a CB lategame to finish things off, but other then that..

Anyway I don't think we'll get to see ourselves surfing/flying on Pokemon sprites. Most water Pokemon are smaller then the character, and I think the flying animation would take a lot of work to do compared to 4 sides/bobbing of surfing sprites.

As for move tutors, totally possible. I personally hope for a Flare Blitz tutor so Flareon and especially Entei get what they deserve.
