I Am The Shinxe, koo koo (pi)kachu!

:V!

Thanks Fate! I haven't played HG/SS yet so I don't really have any ideas for the current MAC. I can always try though, if I think of something.

LoL, bombiron, thanks for the welcome. As to your questions:

I always start with a 2000x2000 canvas (at 300dpi) and crop it/make it larger/decide on proportions from there.

And I don't use GIMP so I dunno! I use Photoshop.

oh i thought i read on here that you used photoshop.
well i gave gimp a whirl and at some point i installed some .abr photoshop brushes and i cant get rid of them so its just corel again!

expect a pm regarding some questions that are way off topic

I dunno lol :V

This cracks me up because in no way is Shinxe as a Pokemon hardcore at all. B] I can't take anything seriously even if I'm listening to Front Line Assembly. :C

Had this song on loop and pretty new Photoshop brushes to play with!

I really loved the oil paintings you did, they looked beautiful :3

I hope you learned alot at your class... I love Italy, and I hope you took the time to do some sightseeing, and indulge yourself in the food a bit.

Anyway, your new Shinx looks pretty badass with that crazy coat, trippy eye thing, and crackling lightning. Good job.

Thanks daggler!

Okay here's something else to keep this thread going a bit:

So, this one's a commission I'm working on; all the painting, and the sketch on the RIGHT were done a month ago, before going to Italy.

Note that the first version is... very stiff, badly done, etc. It doesn't show an understanding of anatomy and how the body settles into a pose at all. And so! I did a new sketch for it and will continue to refine it as I begin to paint. Gotta fix up the face as well.

his cheek bones look bloated, or like hes holding air in his mouth or something

Yes indeed, I've been working on his face.. amazing what a difference a month makes when you look back on an old painting, lol. EW. Ended up redrawing a bunch of his face too, it's like plastic surgery or something.

So in the meantime I began another Pokemon image!

Here's the step-by-step so far.

oh mannnn my boyfriend has the biggest nerd boner for steven stone, I have to show him this he'll love it. It looks amazing so far, I love the light and shadows in his face color detail :> it really looks like hes in a cave

shinxe some cc from me:
it seems like the (our) left side of his mouth is really flat, esp on our left side,
i kind of looks like the right side of his face is protruding a little
i am aware it is a wip, but my cc so far

i love love love the piece though

Thanks for the feedback guys! Steven's my second-favorite Champion after Cynthia (I have to do a good illustration of her sometime too... aaa).

This is now about... ~6 hours in. I'm workin kinda slowww today.

Sorry to SPAM, but here's where it's at now... been painting TOTALLY differently from how I used to. Used to obsessively draw everything perfect, THEN paint over it, but I find that altering the drawing and everything AS I paint always tends to yield a looser and yet more accurate finished piece... but I will still have to try not to overwork it. Might not teach myself that lesson on this one, but it's been fun thus far.

Today is "waste time doing Pokemon art day".

I made ANOTHER icon for myself; it's better than the last one. ;D

(I am the Pokemon
They are the Pokemen
I am the 'Lectric, pii-pii-pikachu)

(reference: it's this image redrawn completely-- which obviously isn't my art-- except the lenses, which I just copy/pasted for full effect)

It helps if I'm practicing from an already existing piece of work! I am still trying to figure out who did those trippy Beatles portraits.

Derp post! B] I tend to draw Shinxe when I'm bored, so here's a few of those I've done recently.

THIS ONE IS AN ACCURATE DEPICTION OF MY LIFE

(I just got a bird mask so I drew Shinxe with the Pokemon equivalent)

Your art is amazing Shinxe, the way you color totally blows my mind. You are the type of artists that makes me want to put my tablet away forever and never put it down out of sheer determination to reach the level you are now, at the same time. The colors are just so amazing, I don't know if there is any way you could do this, but I would love to see you work in real time (more like fast forward but you know what I mean). I don't think there is any better way to improve your art than to practice and watch other great artists do their thing.

Keep up the incredible work, I really look up to you and your art!

bomb: thanks 8V

Fate: Thanks dude! I doodle a lot, but never post 'em anywhere, but they can be amusing sometimes. Shinxe did horrible things to that pidgey, skinned it, then made a FURSUIT out of it. Worst fate ever

SEO: LOL man you have some very cool atmospheric work goin' on in your art, namely your icon and some of the crazy pics in your thread. ....I never did comment in your thread. Well I'll expand there. But thanks dude, I'm really flattered!

Anyway there IS a way to watch me in realtime, and it's called Ustream. It kinda makes my computer finicky, but I can always do a couple sessions if you're interested. If anybody else wants to see, just let me know; I'll try to do it at a decent hour of the day so it can actually be watched!

That would be great. I just feel kind of lost with digital art right now. I can usually get a nice sketch down, but that is usually as far as I can get. I think it would really help me if I watched someone like you, who is obviously very good at what he does, paint something from beginning to end. I think it would help me by giving me a sort of procedure that I can build off of, and eventually find my own style altogether.
