League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

because he has three skills on low cooldowns, high natural base ad, and triforce is the most cost effective ad item in the game, and it builds from phage

Triforce also never feels expensive, because it has three component items that are all cheap and good. The combine price is also cheap.

you ever get the feeling like you carried really really hard

morde soloed top and fed 4 kills to enemy renekton, lost his tower at 9 minutes

at that moment i realised that you can't rely on your teammates ever. i bought catalyst and started trolling enemy lanes, setting up team fights nobody wanted to participate in but i forced them to

ran like a kenyan zoning out enemy gangplank, urgot and maokai out of team fights

bought oracles and 923849032843920 wards

had so much cash at the end i was just like 'lol ok i'll buy a gunblade' but i never got to finish it

in our final push our morde botched the team fight and i was left with a low health warwick, us two against four angry looking people. they wanted to kill him so i basically spread my poison farts all over them and obtained three assists. urgot tried desperately to kill me and warwick while i was attacking the nexus, xin and maokai spawned and also tried but i was just like NOPE popped my randuins and took the nexus by myself on 500 health

Do it all the time as Akali.

However, when I get into a ranked game where my Jarvan goes 1/20/3 and my Nidalee goes 4 boots (she said one for each paw), there's not much I can do.

Ok, the Nid made me LOL, but I still wanted to win. :(

OK, I just downloaded the game and it is currently installing. Are there are champions that I should start as just to get used to the game?

Team Get Publes lost for the first time. :(

It can't have helped that I (Blitzcrank) was getting focused like crazy in fights and ended with a 5/11. But we won 4/5 teamfights. It's just that one loss allowed them to destroy our inhibitor, and from there it became "Won a teamfight, go push, oh shit what the fuck minions in our base?". This repeated more than ten times. Every god damn time we won a team fight, aced even, we could do nothing with it because minions were all over our base. It was fucking ridiculous.

Had some fun games in a 5-man premade with alex, gene and friends the other night. I started out playing possibly the worst I've ever played as Singed, getting completely denied in lane by an aggressive kog'maw, soraka combo. He basically had his W on the entire time and we couldn't get anywhere near him or the minions, and when we did we got silenced before we could retaliate.
After that we sorted our team comp out and I jungled Warwick for a few close games, before a 7-0 stomping in the last game where we all agreed our ELO had clearly dropped. XD

Fun times.

Free Kayle skins for everybody who played 10 games within the past, eh, while? Bought Kayle in case, because I know I've played 10 games. Also I'm about to give up on ranked, we always have that Vayne that goes 3-13 or that Olaf who feeds and doesn't jungle...

Just had a shocker of a game with kinneas, going by the results I might as well just uninstall and quit, dominated in lane phase by a Jarvan which ruined my item build as I was rushing thornmail to try and counter him, as well as my usual build, kept on missing my ult, and getting caught in ganks / ults
terrible terrible game

who were you playing? jarvan is p hard to counter in lane after he gets a philo because he can last hit from a distance and his health regen is insane

He was playing ashe and the jarvan was mid for some reason. I was busy up top so I didn't see what happened but once mid game kicked in I smashed his skull in with Garen.

DEMACIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Garen is a lot of fun to play for someone so simple.

Hey so, I've been thinking about getting into this game, but before I do I have some questions.

First, is there any way for new players to only face new players? Or will I just have to get smashed by experienced players as I learn?

Second, I know there are some champions that are considered easier to play. Is the difficulty really so different between characters though? Say, if I wanted to play one of the harder Champions as a newbie, would that be highly inadvisable? I know in many games certain classes/characters are harder to play than others, but the difference isn't always as much as the communities make it seem. Wondering if that's the case.

I'm pretty sure it's a matchmaking sytem that looks at your current rankings as you advance through the game. Of course, as soon as you start out you'll be at level 1 and you'll be matched with other level 1's and maybe level 2's and 3's, but generally you'll always be playing against people up your level. The only thing you need to worry about are the experienced players who make alternate accounts but that's about it.

and the difficulty level on champions on levels can be arguable. I guess you should really out every champion but everyone agrees that there are some basic champions you should look into that will kinda branch off into the more 'harder' ones

an ingame tutorial teaches you the mechanics and focus of the game

some basic tips that seperate bad players from good players that is not a complete list and should be added to by other players

- play every free champion you can in a coop vs ai game before playing them in a normal queue
- buy ashe, nunu, warwick, janna, shen, ryze, amumu, teemo, taric, alistar, annie, tristana (get her for free off facebook) and cho'gath and get good at all 13 of them - they teach you the basic skills
- run where the enemy will go when you're chasing rather than directly to them
- when you come in for a gank run with them not at them
- if someone is helping to gank your lane then don't suddenly go aggressive if you were defensive and vice versa
- actually aim to always be aggressive in lane, lane domination works psychologically and physically
- don't pull the 'let's wait for them to push up' shtick, if they're ungankable then don't bother unless you're level 6 warwick or nocturne or something else ridiculous
- you're being baited when the guy in front of you will lose to you in a 1v1 situation and half the team is mia
- when you place wards place them to maximise their efficiency, don't just stick them on the primary objective
- when laning last hit only
- know when you're beat, ask for a lane switch
- know the abilities of every champion
- notice the small things, like if their warwick built a spirit visage save ignite for him
- chain your cc, don't throw it all on immediately
- don't cc the first person that comes in on a team fight. the moment someone comes in you hunt for the primary target
- if there's a good player on your team follow his example
- if there's a bad player on your team lead by example
- click enemy champions and check their defensive stats. if their shen is raping you but he only has 40 mres nuke him down
- don't understimate the usefulness of elixirs, if you anticipate a team fight coming up you might as well buy one
- learn the paths of junglers as well as their clear times so you can anticipate ganks
- ward. ward the river when laning, ward buffs and dragon midgame, ward baron when everybody is level 14 at least and keep it warded.
- jungle creeps spawn every 100 seconds. buffs spawn every 5 minutes. dragon spawns every 6 minutes. baron spawns every 7 minutes.
- when doing buffs or dragon lead the monsters away so you're in a position to escape if you're interrupted
- doran's items help you when you're behind, but realise you have to make up for the deficit
- boots and 3 health potions are good starting items when you have no idea what to do
- solomid.net if you're still stuck
- don't overextend if they have a nocturne
- give up on chasing for too long if they have a shen
- if you're top and 4 of them are bot then push that tower down
- dragon is worth 2-3 kills
- baron is worth 5 kills
- never play sivir
- DON'T AUTOATTACK RAMMUS

In your guys' opinions, which carries works best with Soraka/Sona/Janna each? (like a list for each one preferrably)

In your guys' opinions, which carries works best with Soraka/Sona/Janna each? (like a list for each one preferrably)

Soraka shouldn't babysit, Sona is the best babysitter and can do it with anyone, I imagine Tristana loves the shit out of Janna's shield (As does Nocturne if you feel like trolling. 90 free AD at 9? Yes, please), and Taric (You forgot him) works with anyone who can take advantage of his stun like Vayne and Caitlyn.

Soraka is the best babysitter for an AD carry who is going to take a lot of harassment, but doesn't really fear a gank. So basically you want to use Soraka with one who has a built in flash. Corki is the best for this (he also takes advantage of the mana that she can give, meaning he can afford to not grab a manamune). Corki also has the lowest auto-attack range, so he's very likely to take a lot of opposing auto attack fire, which Soraka can easily heal off. Second best AD carry would be Vayne, and last would be Caitlyn. Do not use Soraka with an AD carry who has no escape mechanics, because you'll just lose. So don't do like Ashe + Soraka or MF + Soraka.

Sona is a high harass support, so any champion who also is high harass can really dominate a lane. MF + Sona is really nasty to face and can easily zone out the opposing team if they're more passive. Sona though is probably the most "universal" support, but I think MF (and Cait to a lesser extent) takes advantage of her more than the others.

Taric is probably the best babysitter. His targeted stun + heal give his AD carry ample time to escape poor positioning if they get caught by the opposing team. Ashe's only weakness is her lack of escape mechanic and when that is remedied she's easily the best AD carry in the game. Taric alleviates her weakness, so Ashe is definitely the best AD partner for Taric. Ashe Arrow followed by Taric stun is also an EXTREMLY deadly combination on bot lane, and can a lot of times give free kills every two minutes.

Janna is the queen of forcing poor positioning in the other team, with a slow and a popup that can zone the opponents out of where they'd prefer to be. Vayne can really take advantage of this zoning by forcing opponents to play more near the brush which means she can land her pushback stuns. Vayne also obviously really appreciates the AD bonus.

So in summary:

Soraka + Corki
Sona + Miss Fortune
Taric + Ashe
Janna + Vayne
