League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

level 30 jungler in a high-level (as in we perform consistently against other strong teams, slowly climbing in rank) Australian 5s team

stopped solo queueing regularly after finding a 5s team but I could mentor you guys if you want to make a team/help you improve etc

Level 28, can play any single role on a team (except I only have lanewick for solo top but lanewick is awesome so nbd). Oh, except for pure tank (no Amumu/Cho/Leona).

Also they said Surprise Fiddlesticks was coming out soon so I am so buying that.

Does that mean you won't even play Jungle Mumu?

thorns pls mentor us

veigar is rly cool. i usually end up with 2nd most kills on team but my deaths are still a bit high. being able to com pletely nerf their ap carry in a team fight is a great asset though. or even their support sometimes. might start getting abyssal after rabadans though, for the defense

Can somebody tell me how to jungle Amumu (mainly the build and jungle path)? I just bought him because he looked pretty nice and I had the runes and everything, at least the runes I can get at level 24.

I imagine my insular Smogon group will be less around with class starting so as far as playing nice with others I think now is probably a good time... most of the posters here have me friended already(Synre there, too). I'm mostly a support player like half the other people in this thread and could consider any of the main five my main(less Soraka postnerfs and Janna due to less experience with her, though at least post-patch Sona is kinda more fun with her bugfixes and maybe people will pick king support Alistar more with that ult nerf).

I've kind of been trying to unlock all the other champions that seemed appealing to me during the summer so I could start learning them during the semester when I had more time alone(since atm I'm basically in a group 100% of the time I'm online and I try not to make other people suffer with my learning more than I have to), but working on adding Malzahar, Lee Sin, Ashe, Gangplank, Swain, Nidalee, Renekton, Warwick, Kennen, and Karthus(and maybe Annie and Fiddlesticks since they're not seeming to get nerfed as much as I'd think would be appropriate) to my pool of comfortable champs. I need some more runes for some of them(AS for some jungles, MS for Renekton) but own all the above champions and am trying to work on learning them when appropriate atm. I'm still kinda trying to get used to where I should be all the time when the non-support roles, which is why I think I seem to have a bias for characters with gap closers and global abilities. I feel like I'd be worlds better at this game if I slept more too, so many times I find myself doing dumb shit I KNOW is dumb shit but can't seem to stop myself... also I probably could stand to find another AD bot type I wouldn't mind learning. Broke 200 wins in unranked a few days ago so level 30 obviously but I've only been playing for about two months now and it shows more than I'd like it to sometimes.

Anyway, maybe I'll see some of you around online more the next little while.

Soraka nerfs? Do those exist?

I'm only level 12, but I play a couple characters pretty well. I play mainly AD carries, such as Yi, Ashe, Trist, and I mess around with Urgot some.

If you're trying to play her in her actual role as a support and not screwing around with AP builds, then yeah, the heal nerfs are pretty damn annoying.

I guess I main Annie because it would be silly not to. I'm pretty competent with most AP casters apart from Gragas who I can't do shit with.

I Jungle Warwick, Nocturne, Udyr, Trundle. Can also Solo top with most of those and Jarvan, Cho, Singed.

When I have the runes I'll be picking up Fiddlesticks and Amumu.

Tbh, at this point, it's more like "If you're not screwing around with support builds, instead of playing her in her actual role as an AP Carry, her offensive boosts are greatly appreciated"

I'm level 30 and play several different characters including Cho'gath (tank obviously, the only way to play him), Nasus, Nocturne (jungle mostly but I suppose I could lane), Warwick (jungle), Rammus (lane or jungle), Vlad, Ryze, Veigar (I haven't played him in a while though because I find that he's pretty subpar), Udyr (jungle), and Xin (lane or jungle). I'm interested in learning a larger variety of champions though so I would never be opposed to trying something new if it was needed.

I think the trouble with that line of thinking is that especially with there being so few viable supports it is unlikely that Riot intended Soraka's role to switch, so they'll probably patch it back in the other direction a little, but even if they don't Soraka isn't exactly a top tier AP carry. Beyond the novelty of abusing the MR reduction debuff on Starcall if you can build a team around it(and you can keep it on the right targets with it without getting melted and/or them splitting up and making you choose... not to mention the build up takes a long time), Starcall's AP ratio is still pretty pathetic at .4 and her only other offensive ability is still on a 10 second cooldown (and .75 isn't particularly outstanding for a single target nuke, either). The main thing she's bringing to a team fight is utility with the MR drop and the silence, with some damage added in, but that utility is still there if she's building support without taking the farm from a solo lane to do middling damage. It's not really justifiable to pick her over some of the other champions with more control or burst or a better combination of the two like the current top AP group with Orianna, Brand, and Annie, and you could extend the list of heroes she's not very competitive with to to include most of the other popular APs like Rumble, Anivia, Zilean, and Karthus, too. I'm not sure how being a second rate AP is somehow more notable than being an overnerfed support.

I've got a very in-depth guide up on Mobafire.com if you're interested in how to jungle him.

Synre: It's not really Soraka's late game presence, it's more of her zoning power and AoE damage that's very hard to counter in the early game. She's very much like a combination of the spam and damage from a Mordekaiser while being able to stay alive as well as a Vladimir. With her Q, she should never miss a CS. On top of that she has a pocket silence, a massive armor buff, and a global ultimate to pick up assists on first blood, assists in general, or just to help her allies survive.

Late-game she tapers down greatly but her early game is a little ridiculous. She can be countered somewhat by ganking her frequently like you would a Mordekaiser but that's still a little frustrating.

Just had the most frustrating game ever. I go in, see everyone else instalock melee champs (no tanks among them) and get told to tank. I felt like with 3 AD melee champs and an akali, going ranged AP was a lot more important, so I pick Cass. They were mostly tanky DPS chars anyway. The Warwick and Akali bitch at me, saying I should've played tank.

I'm midding against Malzahar, way up in minion kills and harassing him like a boss. Two of his buddies come in for the first gank attempt. I evade it with Cass ult, since I just leveled to 6. They try again, and fail. They get me the third time, but they needed 4 people (they could do that because literally my whole team was dead) and turret diving. Not one MIA called the whole game. All the while Malzahar is talking shit and 0/7 WW and 0/4 Tryn are calling me bad. I think they were real life friends, and they were retarded.

Not that anyone cares, I just had to vent, but there is a point to this whole rant. Do you guys think I was in the right in my pick to go Cass or is a tank really the most important thing no matter what?

At the ELO or summoner level it seems like you're in, team composition is easily less important than the simple "who can carry harder". Once everyone in both teams is reliably good at the game, however, team comp starts making a huge difference.

If you wanted to play AP and your team didn't have a 'true' tank you should probably choose Chogath. He disrupts like nobody's business and does have nice bursts of magic power as well as having insane HP amounts if you build him correctly. He is pretty cheap too, 1350ip for his kit is simply amazing

yo just to remind you guys there's a smogon chat room up, just go to bottom right and search 'Smogon' in chat room!

Yeah, I could have gone with Cho'gath since he's free right now, but I didn't think 5 melee champs was a good idea. I mean, it was shitty team composition no matter what I chose. And I've never played Cho soooo yeah.

I don't really know how the matchmaking system works, but I'm at summoner level 25 and I'm 50/50 with my win/loss, usually have more competent team mates than that.

It's pretty clear in the last patch that their intention was to largely remove the role of dedicated support, considering they nerfed almost EVERYONE'S heals. Starcall is great for the MR shred and farming. It is incredibly good even without a huge AP ratio. She has great farm, great utility, good harass, a GLOBAL HEAL that scales with the AP you're already building, and still very good sustain. She's kinda like Orianna, while she doesn't have the most dominant offensive AP might, she has GREAT utility, does very well in lane, and can support her team extremely well at any point, in any fight.

I kind of want to learn how to jungle Warwick or Nunu since I hear they're ridiculously easy junglers and so that I don't get stuck babysitting a carry bot as Singed (800s, remember), is this a good idea ?_? If so, which one and how/why/what do?
