Marvel v Capcom 3 discussion

Viewtiful Joe definitely doesn't suck.

-He's extremely fast (especially when he used the God hand hyper which slows down opponents to a crawl)
-Small and really hard to hit
-Has the greatest overhead on the planet (like... seriously it doesn't even look like one lmao, its a simply punch but its an overhead at the same time)

Joe is cool.

Picked this up yesterday, and I have to say my team so far is looking like Akuma/Sentinel/Wolverine. I never liked using Sentinel in MvC2 but for some reason I seem to flow so much better with him now. If anyone wants to add me on 360, my GT is Pharoahe Ace

You can't really say he sucks after about a week (or more depending on how finished he was in the other builds). Part of the reason he 'sucks' is because there aren't really any players experimenting with him and they just write him off.

Ooh, this is good to hear. I dunno, from the general 'buzz' I was hearing, it seemed like Joe was pretty outclassed. But you're right Kishimoto, the game hasn't been out long enough to make that kind of conclusion about him. I was gonna use him no matter what, I just think he's awesome... but I don't want to get stomped by my friends, haha :x

Decided not to pick the game up after the ridiculous revelation that--yet again-- Capcom is nickel-and-diming us with "DLC" that's already on the disc. Gonna wait for the Game of the Year addition.

These business practices are ridiculous.

Je was lower tier in MvC3, but he's really solid though, and his airspam combo is just annoying as fuck :P
still have to wait till friday to pick up my copy I suppose :P

I heard the characters aren't actually complete on the disc or something.

that's why i got the collector's edition. besides, the game is perfectly playable without them so you don't have to buy them.

Micro-transactions will destroy video games. How long before FGs get released with fewer characters than DLC adds?

I didn't buy any BB:CS chars because the whole model is bullshit. I'm sure they just stripped the va files and bugged her hyper combo before finalizing the disc to screw over the hackers who can unlock Jill and Shuma.

Like Kristoph said she's not complete; likely during development they got her model/animations done and said "let's make her DLC." Instead of wiping the data they just left the junk files there like most developers do with cut content. Yeah her moveset is complete on disc but is it balanced? I can imagine them putting filler numbers in the damage department while they worked on hitbox/animation, which is probably why her hyper combo is whack. Voice acting is likely one of the last development steps to be had which would explain why it of all things is not included. I heavily doubt they went out of their way to strip anything.

Whether they'll use that incomplete data in conjunction with the DLC is yet to be seen, but they're hardly screwing us over in regards to DLC being on disc. You might as well just bitch endlessly that they had her ready by launch but didn't include it on the disc. That's a more legitimate case but still just another reason to whine.

Oh while I'm posting, does anybody know a good button layout for an 8-button stick? Idk what the standard for this is and everything I try feels weird. I'm open to suggestions here.

anybody got a feel on amaterasu yet? that's what i'm thinking is gonna be one of my mains soon. anyone know how she plays?

Do you mean using all 8 buttons?

It doesn't have to use them all, but the options are there. I only use 7 buttons atm. For reference' sake I'm using the Tekken 6 Hori stick. My current setup is:

[1][2][3][4]
[5][6][7][8]

1) L. Attack
2) M. Attack
3) H. Attack
4) L + M + H (used for dashing and easier Hyper execution)
5) Special/Launch
6) Partner 1
7) Partner 2
8) L + H (filler, I don't ever use this button)

I'm thinking about swapping the rows since it's easier to navigate my hands upward for clinch assists, but I like using my thumb for the Special :S

Whatever is easier for you. =] Most people just use 6 buttons (the configuration you have for 1/2/3/5/6/7 is the norm). I would recommend trying to learn to use 2x attack rather than 1 button, since you can get really uncoordinated when moving your hands (especially with 8 buttons).

Edit: Want to add on here, maybe put LMH next or relatively close to Special/Launch for an easier x-factor.

I'd use this if I had a/that stick:

1. Asst1
2. L
3. M
4. H
5. Asst2
6. S
7. LMH
8. Filler.

Keeps your fingers how you have them now just shifted one to the right. This let's you reach to the left for assists which should be easier since for most people their pointer and thumb are more nimble than their other fingers.

I got to play for like 3 hours at a friends house and it was glorious. Was kinda just messing around and he's not good at fighting games so it was me just trying to learn combos on the fly but I definitely liked the feel of Zero the most, followed by Amaterasu.

Yeah, I was kinda just messing around, but the fact you can just switch up her strong attack makes her pretty awesome. I mainly stuck with the whip as the range was great, but Amy seems like a character I really want to try and main as she's so versatile. The standard weak, medium, strong (when on the flame one), launcher and then weak, medium, strong, special worked pretty well for racking up damage.

anyone else having a lot of problems with XBOX Live play? like, not being able to connect to lobbies half the time, even with friend invites?

My stick setup is

[A][C]
[A1][A2]

Just the basic one. It works at least.

I <3 Viper, Storm, and Wesker. Team works pretty well.

finally got to pick up my game, went straight into mission mode, Spencer indeed does not disappoint me :D
Dormammu surprised me as well as with how many options he actually has for such a slow character.
Thinking of final team to be Wesker/Spencer/Dormammu
Might try unlocking all the characters first and trying them to see if they suit me more then above 3

http://shoryuken.com/content/marvel-vs-capcom-3-hacked-test-shuma-gorath-3650/

While I do admit that Jill is legitimately an incomplete character, I think that holding back Shuma-Gorath (as well as the rest of the "DLC" outfits) is outright deplorable. Capcom has done this time and time again with Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter 4 and now MvC 3, and as consumers I really think that we should not be supporting it. I honestly feel bad saying this because I was incredibly hyped for the game when it was first announced, and this hype for the game has been soured by realizing that a leopard doesn't change its spots. This isn't just about the "DLC" either-- Capcom promised us a comprehensive story mode (I was hoping for something at least on the level of Super Smash Brothers: Brawl) among other things, and seeing modes such as Shadow mode etc etc. really makes me wonder how anyone can defend them.

I feel at this point that I'm indirectly trolling so I shall elect to stop here; I do intend to get the game when they come out with an inevitable "super" version but right now I cannot condone what they're doing to us as consumers and how we're mindlessly lapping it up.

ON A LIGHTER NOTE: How does everyone find Amaterasu? While I don't see as much bitching about her as I do Sentinel, it seems a lot of people that can't deal with her smaller hitbox really can't stand her.
