Marvel v Capcom 3 discussion

I can't do the ROM loop at all, air dash combos are so tricky for me.. the only one I can reliably do is the Doom buktooth combo. I've only EVER seen one Magneto online and I've played 300 matches total.. I guess if you do see one, they'll beat your ass.

While we're still on the topic of QQ magneto:

I hate disrupter. Forget about flashy combos, DHC glitches, or high-low mixups. That stupid beam neuters my team.

hmm, when I play on my PS3 online I usually dont see any Magneto's either. Probably my luck or so.
Still playing with my Amaterasu/Hulk/Spencer team and Ive been training a bit, specially with Spencer since he's so good as an anchor with lvl 3 x-factor

I was online for about half an hour today (on PSN) and in that time alone I fought 3 Magnetos of various skill levels, I would definitely not put him in the group of characters that you don't see in online matches.

Anyone watch CEO/Revelations a few days ago? Particularly CEO, which had super super good MvC3 finals.

It's really amazing how Phoenix has held up thus far. I think there were a lot of people who expected her to eventually fall from relevance, but right now she's looking scarier than ever. As a spectator I'm absolutely loving it, and I'm really interested to see how things evolve from here (until a patch comes, maybe?). As a player, no comment. >_>

I watched CEO and Revelations, and I found it interesting that Tokido, who won CEO, used Phoenix in a pretty different way that she is usually played. I will never agree that Phoenix is broken (X Factor is the real issue, but that's not the point here), but she is clearly still a top-tier character, and she is not always limited to one playstyle alone, as Tokido has shown

The terrifying thing is that Tokido didn't even care about saving meter or X-Factor for Phoenix. He just obliterated everything with Wolverine for the most part. Pretty much every other Phoenix player has really made her the focus of their team, so it'll be interesting to see whether people start to reevaluate how to use her.

If Tokido proved anything, it is that Wolverine is broken. In the entire finals it was generally who killed the opponents Wolverine first who would win. That said, Justin has always had a relatively poor Tron, so he may have stood a better chance had he not used her. Oh well, guess we need to wait for Evo to see who truly is better (read: who truly has the better Wolverine).

To be fair, ChrisG did super well with Ryu of all characters. Wolverine is scary, but I'm not worried about him being broken just yet.

Yeah, Chris's Ryu was sick to watch. Almost took back my allegation of him being just a bad Dormammu. As for Phoenix, I kinda enjoy watching any player who can do well with regular Phoenix and not just Dark (As evidenced by the no rooting against Clockw0rk rule at #battlecapacity).

What teams are you guys rocking right now? I'm currently using Hulk Task Sent, but I think I might drop someone or another for Ammy. Not sure but I need something to change as I'm going about .500 online nowadays. Literally 6-6 two nights ago and 7-7 last night.

Haven't played online lately, but I've been working with Magneto/Zero/Wesker the most, sometimes swapping Dormammu in over Zero/Wesker. I'd almost like to drop Magneto altogether because of how useless I am with him online, but the DHC trick to both Zero and Wesker is just too tempting.

Last time I played I was still working on fixing up my Trish/Tron/Phoenix team. Probably the best team I have had so far in terms of synergy but I really need to find some time to put in to getting combos worked out.

Im currently playing some Infamous, but in MvC3 Im still rocking Amaterasu/Hulk/Spencer, seems like that is my choice for now although I had tried a backup team consisting of Chris/Dormammu/Wesker. I might ditch Ammy for someone with more HP but im not sure

Eiganjo, thank for dropping Ammy. Every single one I've faced is thus:

H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H H

I now have a crippling fear of the pooch.

Ya I would actually buy it if I could combo in SF4 in general (I get them down like 20% of the time, and training mode in SSF4 not nearly as fun as Marvel training mode).

Very lenient inputs. So if you walk forward and shoot a fireball, you're probably going to get a dp instead.

I actually think SFIV training mode is way more fun than MvC3 training mode. Maybe its just me but I can't seem to find many set ups to do in training mode.

Ya you can do 626, 636, or 33 and that'll get you a DP. Super annoying mainly if you're trying to do an ultra.

But let's not make this a SF4 thread. I just hope something will happen (i.e. announcing DLC characters) that'll breath some life into Marvel.

Wouldnt say bodied, but hes not tokido level by all means, yet. it's just that the commentary was horrible, and I expect it to be today as well.
Ultradavid/James Chen should be doing it at all times

So, I don't know why the Winner's/Loser's finals were only best of three for Marvel. I can sort of understand it for AE (still disagree though), but Marvel? The game is fast fast fast, and it's random as hell. It screams "best of five" for at least top eight (I wanna say UFGT7 did this?), if not the whole tournament (apparently MLG does this for Tekken, which isn't even in the same league as Marvel as far as). It's no surprise that everyone hates Phoenix, Wolverine and X-Factor when they only need to work twice to be successful.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm psyched for EVO! CEO, RevLAtions, and Nor Cal Regionals 9 today have been cool, but I'm ready for the main event. Unsurprisingly, Daigo took the AE title today at NCR9, continuing the Japanese domination in SF begun by Tokido. He put up a good showing in Mahvel too, but Justin won it handily after Daigo got eliminated.

If you saw Justin's performance in Marvel, their was one thing that stuck out to me, and it was just how powerful Wolverine is. With or without assist (esp. Akuma) he's just a beast and makes it impossible for the person defending to not get sucked into your vortex of cross ups and 50/50 set ups. I'm just glad Wolverine usage is not too pronounced yet, but if a team like Wolverine/Akuma/Phoenix takes EVO... *shudder*

Do you guys think Wolverine should be toned down in "Super" Marvel 3?
