1.8 is amazing guys. i just died on my first survival world of the patch... spawned in a biome of what seemed like dense, 'deciduous' trees and walked a bit due southwest to a collection of small hills, wild grass and many pigs. i built my first night's house at the top of one of the hills and i was lucky enough to find a ravine on the far side! the next day i went down into the ravine to explore. did a bit of mining -- found an underground pond in a cave rich in coal and steel not far below the surface.
naturally, i went deeper. after a bit of mining (i was following the sounds of some zombies somewhere underneath me) i broke into an abandoned mineshaft! out of nowhere came two creepers -- i literally jumped. i killed one, the other blew up on me. wandering through the abandoned mine shaft was so creepy -- i loved it. i was afraid to run into an enderman (still haven't seen one) the whole time so i made my way very slowly. after a while i spotted a monster spawner in the distance, surrounded by cobwebs. when i got closer, a cave spider jumped onto me from above. i'll admit, i yelled. i wasn't able to sack the spawner before getting killed by cave spiders.
i decided to play hardcore survival for a bit so i'll have to start another world. i can't wait though! 1.8 is great so far imo.
