sandstone rails? that's gonna be rather resource intensive, especially if we're having rails as long as those in the old map.

also i would prefer fewer trees in the spawn city design, especially the big and ugly-ass multi-branch rainforest ones.

and a question: are we bringing back logblock or are we using lwc (i prefer logblock because it allows the players themselves to search for thieves/griefers)?
 
i really dig all the awesome designs being planned for the new spawn, and its great that most people are in agreement about how things should be designed. there's just one question that keeps popping up for me though, and it's how many things we really need at the spawn point.

i remember at last stand beach, there were a few unnecessary buildings around in the spawn area. they really looked great, but there wasn't a whole lot of use for them. one example was the workbench building, which could have been combined with the forge (and maybe for the upcoming server, create a separate room in the same building for an enchantment hall). even the bank seemed to be a little redundant to me. i do know that some people did use the storage there, but it seems like most users would want to keep their items in their own houses. thinking in these terms, even the forge and workbench building seems unneeded if everyone has those in their own homes.

what i'm trying to say is that the spawn point should have resources available in it that take time for one person to build up by themselves. i think that we should start by making a list of what we all consider to be essential parts of the spawn point. for example, i think that a nicely sized farm that includes wheat, pumpkins, melon, vines, and a small house for seeds and flowers is really useful to have around. the railway station is a definite installment, and i think we might want to put some space aside for an animal ranch area.

maybe i should have posted this in the social group, but im not sure everyone interested in the server checks that as frequently as this thread. i think it would be great just to start making a list of what we think are the essential buildings and areas for the spawn, and try to take out the redundant ones. i dunno, haha.

actually that looks p. awesome, im just worried about having too much unused buildings. i think we should just start thinking about what order makes the most sense for them to be placed in, and which ones are used the most frequently and which are used the least frequently. i think maybe that the hotel and the bank could be combined into one small building. maybe we could have a farm area that includes the tree farm, wheat/melon/pumpkin/nether wart/vines/reeds, and animal ranch area? i'm not sure how much use either of those would get, but i think that we all need to kind of decide that as a server!

also, sheep will breed whatever color you dye them!
i dont know about mixing colors yet though..

I know that I for one used the bank frequently; both for storing backup equipment near spawn, and as a method of distributing goods I had no need of.

At the very least, there should be a secondhand "shop" or a "lost and found" in town where people can drop off stuff they don't need instead of just trashing it.
 
Hello fellow Minecraftians! So I see you guys have a project atm. Are there applications so I could maybe lend a hand? Would love to; also who hasn't been playing pokemon due to the full release. Hardcore mode is excellent.
 
I am of the opinion that no buildings in that plan are redundant. Yeah the craft room insanely redundant yes, the furnace area has its uses too. My goal when deciding buildings (which forks hadn't exactly planned) was to have things that were big enough for us to share and do not everyone would feel like they had to make their own farm for each resource (which happened near lsb despite my lovely farms by users that shall not be mentioned.

With logblock it's easier to keep track of banks. We have had times on the server when we could not teleport anywhere. It also helps for trading if two users aren't online at the same time. Last bank was a bit of a mess and I'm not going to expand it for the sake of expanding I'll try also to keep it ordered with actual rows and vaults.

Spawn is one of the few common areas so we ought to have things we will all probably need.
 
For the railway wouldn't it be better to have it in the neather surrounded by glass? You get a nice view and it's 8x quicker and requires an 8th of the rails.

Keep the bank. We all know how awesome my vault was. What with the pressure plates people hide in there and stuff. It wasn't Layell approved though :(.
 
What else are you going to use gold for exactly? A suit of armor? Also now that we have enchantments we can just silk touch then fortune for redstone/diamonds

Are we not doing another mob tower at spawn? I don't see one labeled on the map.
 
ok not to be a dick or anything but if you quote a post full of large images can you please put them in a hide tag
really if you post something full of huge images but i mean come on
 
Agreed, quoting a bunch of images is a bit...much...a simple snip or hiding them would work much better than a long string like that.
