Unfortunately, I feel that this is my time to depart from Smogcraft permanently. As much as I enjoy the community, I just can't deal with this kind of treatment anymore. Ever since the server has traded hands to new administrators, I've noticed a significant change in overall quality for the regular users. Sorry, but I'm fed up with having to wait in a 10+ minute queue just to log in. I'm sick of the constant latency issues and buggy interactions when building and fighting enemies, and the constant chat limitations make it extremely difficult to communicate with others playing.

All of my complaints stem from the recent addition of the donator status for users. Now, by paying a monthly fee, any user can have access to game breaking advantages not offered to those who aren't able/willing to pay this "fun tax". X-ray viewing of valuable minerals, unlimited flight, death protection, donator only special villager trades (which allow incredibly easy acquisition of useful items such as diamond and emerald), and global chat access are but a small list of the benefits offered to these "pay-to-win" users. The fact that these users are deemed more worthy of basic needs such as assistance from in-game moderators is absolutely unacceptable.

So I'm done. I initially joined Smogcraft because all users were treated with the same respect and offered the same privileges. This neo-Smogcraft only cares about those with the wallets to afford her services. I wish I could end on something cliché like "It's been fun", but that would be such a disgusting lie, I'd probably be unable to live with myself.

ive caught the ftb bug, as well as not having much time and losing interest in minecraft lead me to this, ive thought about this for a while

ill be on a little bit now and then but i am definitely not going to have my activity i had last map

Okay, I'll come clean. This was intended from day one. forks never really gave up the server, he only "gave up" ownership to Sal because he needed a reason to fully implement the new donator system. Remnants of this can be seen like how forks still has admin status despite "stepping down."

We had it all planned out from the beginning. forks would bring Smogcraft to a point where people would be willing to pay, hand it off to Sal so that a massive change wouldn't be suspicious, and we all split the profit.

we are not updating the server to 1.4.6 until bukkit comes out with at least a beta build. that said i have no idea why the server is down when i tried restarting twice and the control panel says its up so hang tight people

Not sure if serious or trying to bait us into donating.....

Eh, whatevs, looks like ima have to find another server if we can't play smogcraft for free.
 
Let's try to calm down and yes the whitetext of course
Yet we still have a problem with lag and sometimes too many players so well...
I have proposed an idea for donator only times on the server, we don't have a defeinite time but right now it's weekends and any time aussies are awake.
No offense to the rest of you but if you don't pay you don't play
Getting this should hopefully encourage more donations.

BTW, what are these donations going to? What cause? (being serious here, please give me a serious answer)
 
It's a sad day. If it were worth donating, I might consider it... but there is no community feel here anymore... just a clique with their own agenda and everyone else getting dragged along.
 
Okay, people aren't catching hints so...

The server is not pay to play, and will never be pay to play.

It was a joke, and it wasn't very difficult to see it wasn't true (Sal's white text, MikeDecisHere and Layell's mentioning of white text).

All it was Dis posting a joke and a follow up. Any server trouble you may have had was because our host changed out IP address. The new IP is 31.205.82.75:25579

Also Dan, what do you mean no community feel? I think the feel of the server is great right now, a lot of group projects from people who might not even have been friends before hand. Like what clique are you seeing, as I'd rather deal with them then leave them be if that is the case?
