MLB World Series Official Thread

Wow.
Here we are, at the World Series already.
The Philadelphia Phillies versus the New York Yankees.
It's caused a rift in my family because my family in the Philly area are for the Phillies (obviously) and me and my sister are Yankees fans.
I'm going for the Yanks obviously.
The first game is tonight.
What do you guys think?

I think eww, I wish any two other teams were in the world series!!! I hate them both with a passion!

I also think that the Yankees are good to win this in 6, depending on if their pitching corps performs to their ability.

Sabathia gave up 2 runs, Hughes faced two batters and walked them both, and Marte gave up 2 more runs. In the meantime, Cliff Lee has given up: 4 hits and no runs.

Phillies in 5.

Lee was incredible. On to game two.

Yankees fans: Please remember to chant "Who's your daddy" tomorrow, that will bring back gooood memories.

yankees winning the series is highly unlikely. they have to win all 4 games that Lee pitches because he is unstoppable right now. Phillies in 5 or 7 (i don't think they can knock off the yankees on game 6 with a weaker pitcher)

Phillies are lucky to have as great a pitcher as Lee. However; I think he will crack under the pressure , and Yankees will comeback and win in 6.

Like JA said, Phillies are lucky to have a great pitcher like Lee, but that's all they have. To be very honest, the Red Sox are much better than the Phillies. And don't assume that just because I like the Yankees means that I like the Red Sox. The truth of the matter is that I hate the National League more than I hate the Red Sox, and with passion, might I add. I believe for a Yankees in 6 due to the fact that Sabathia can hit in the 4th game. Petitte's batting in the 6th. Looks like a long, and hard, road for the Yankees this World Series, but I believe they'll make it.

The Phillies are not lucky that they have a great pitcher in Cliff Lee. That is complete bull shit. That's like saying the Yankees are lucky they signed the top three free agents on the market last year. It isn't lucky, it's business. The Phillies knew what they were doing when they traded for Lee, it isn't like they signed the first guy they saw off the street and threw him out on the mound and hoped for the best. What a ridiculous statement.

In all honesty, this series is going to be so close. Both teams have great pitching rotations, great lineups, and (potentially) great bullpens. The Phillies winning the first game and taking away home field advantage was huge, but I can easily see the Yankees coming back out tonight and dominating.

It all comes down to pitching. Phillies in six.

I like how Golden Steelix's signature reflects the match yesterday:

The Yankees used Bronx Bombing!
A critical hit!
The Philies lost 8736% of their health!
The Philies fainted!

Onto Game 3 at the Phillies Stadium in Philadelphia.

That's a true signature.
By the way, it's Citizens Bank Park, as my aunt keeps reminding me.

Citizens Bank Park, that's the name. Well, we'll have to wait 'till tomorrow for Game 3. Predictions for the score of game 3?

I'm guessing 4-2 Yanks.

I think this is further proof that Brad Lidge sold his soul to accomplish his perfect season last year. So psyched on the Yankees right now, let's hope AJ can close it out tomorrow.

I do too, since me and my chem teacher had a huge discussion/argument over who was better, Phillies or Yankees, and it eventually dissolved into a huge lol fest of him comparing Philadelphia to our ghetto, and then we talked about German ovens (don't ask...).

Going off on a tangent here, but anyways, Phillies was my number one choice to win the WS, and I still have hope for them, with Lee coming in game 4.

Even though I'm a die hard Yankees fans, I'm afraid that they have a chance of losing Game 5 due to Cliff Lee's (above average) pitching. It'll be a real test for both the Yankees offense and defense for Game 5 because they have to prove that it's not Cliff Lee's pitching that makes their offense go (see game 1), but rather it's just the location of the Yankee's pitchers that lets the Phillies offense able to score. If the Yankees win in Game 5, A.J. Burnett will be absolutely loved. =D Yankees

Uh-oh. Not looking good for the Phils. I only got to see until late into the game last night. If they actually win it again...that would be unreal.
