Monster Hunter

Didn't see a thread for just this series, hopefully I'm not posting outside an existing thread. Anyways, who all out there likes the series? Always looking forward to finding/recruiting more western hunters, especially with Tri G potentially coming over to the west hopefully soonish.

Monster hunter is one of the best series around. I love that game.

I played monster hunter tri and I was blown away by how awesome it was. I especially love multi player, as teaming up with random people to kill monsters that could kill you at any second builds teamwork. Just make sure that gun isn't loaded with pellets.....

EDIT: It would be interesting if the creators of monster hunter teamed up with gamefreak to give us a pokemon hunter game. I would totally buy that.

one of the best games ever. have played thousand of hours for this game...

best played when with friends, i got 4 of us playing it.

Pellet ammo should be banished forever. But yeah, they DO like to do crossovers and with it coming to 3DS some sort of Pokemon reference isn't too farfetched, although they tend to stick with their own games for references. Sometimes they use a community competition for weapon designs to replace Japanese event weapons, like the Tenebra replaced the Tessaiga long sword. Since you said you only played Tri, do you happen to keep up on recent events in the MH world?

Well, I go onto the wiki now and then, but yeah, I've heard of the one coming to 3DS at least. I just haven't really checked up much on it. And then they made another recent one with some sort of wind dragon or something? But lol yeah, I don't own and PS systems or a 3DS so my options for MH are pretty limited. I haven't played the game in at least a year TBH, so I would be a little rusty.

If you have a Wii you should definitely pick up Monster Hunter Tri, probably the best game for that console lol.

The PSP one was Portable 3rd, which we got skipped over for, but Tri G happens to have all of Tri + portable 3rd + new monsters and + tons of subspecies of existing monsters, that and the return of ALL weapons. If you played just Tri you missed out on dual swords, hunting horns, bows and gunlances. Also here's a trailer/opening movie for Tri G; http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7uzafxEHbG0

edit: here's another video that shows more of the new monsters http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71Nj1DDhMdw&feature=player_embedded

Wow, the new MH3G looks amazing. Only prob is that I don't want to waste money on just one game seeing as I don't really want the 3DS. Hopefully a monster hunter game for the xbox?

Hah, no. Capcom has only ever produced one Xbox MH and that was a variation on Frontier, the Japan only severely outdated-engine running pay-to-play MMO. As of now MH is a portable only series, that MIGHT change when Monster Hunter 4 comes out but that's too far away to really think about seriously.

Edit for Vein; Maybe? Some people think we might get portable 3rd for Vita but nothing really exists to prove/disprove that.

Played the shit out of tri last summer, twas amazing.

Then I moved back to PSObb, lol. I still miss beating something on the head until it got KO'd though, quite rewarding gameplay.

That was kind of the issue with Tri, it only lasted a short while [about one summers worth] content wise...after you hit HR51, I think, you ran out of new content. Tri G came out on Dec.10th in japan, people are still discovering new subspecies/rare variations of monsters at HR90+

Love MH! I first got into the series at Tri since I didn't own many Sony consoles till it was too late to consider buying the games. I really enjoyed the gameplay and spent a disproportionate amount of time with the hammer weapons (KOing and flinching is so satisfying). Sadly it didn't last too long for me since I had no group to play with and refused to play with randoms. I'd love to be able to chill out with some group next game.

Looking forward to Tri G, it might be my main reason to get a 3DS but I'll still wait for prices to drop before getting one. Not too big a deal overall for me to get the console since there's a few games around and upcoming that I'll definately get and enjoy too.

I mean I did spend 800 hours easy in that game, it's not like it's lacking content by general standards. By MH standards yes it is kinda lacking (why the tits did they take out those 4 weapons). But yea, Tri G looks amazing, can't wait to get my shit stomped all over again.

I love Monster Hunter.

Spent over 500 hours in Tri, ended up HR100+. Only stopped playing it because I basically got every weapon! Now I've moved onto Portable 3rd, and the time I've pumped into that is reaching fuckton status.

A monster hunter thread nice! I like many people picked up tri just to see what all the hype was about, quickly jumped online and from there I was hooked for a good couple of months. I was given an old psp phat from my brother so it was only logical I checked out MHP3rd, the game didn't disapoint I main the bow in that game as its just so varied, I only wish capcom added more weapons and monsters into tri :( TriG should fix that and add G rank monsters, hell yes!

My fav monster from the series has to be Tigrex!

I guess mine would be Royal ludroth or Agnaktor. I also like lagiacrus, so awesome on so many levels. I like the leviathan class as you can tell :D

@Vein: I think you spelt it right.....

Also, what's the monster in that monster hunter tri G preview that shows the creature in the magma area. Not the punching brute wyvern, but they show something at the end and the music goes all silent. What monster was that?

Fuck yeah, Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter for the PS2 got me into it. I loved it since. Then I got Monster Hunter Tri and I fucking loved it like I love my Zelda. I gotta say that my favorite monster is Barioth. Tuff saber-tooth wyvern

Might be Guran Miraosu

Good news for you then, 2 subspecies of Lagia in Tri G. There's the white Lagiacrus thats more land oriented and a rare species at HR70 or 80 thats called a deepsea Lagia, its all black with red eyes and blue highlights and its constantly supercharged, 100% underwater fight.

fucking giggis, things are disgusting

and the big ones are WORSE

Also underwater fights with the Lagi were irritating.

But the Ceadeus is a piece of cake.

I loved this video game. I should probably get back into it.

Aw crap.

Actually it's not too bad, I'm just having flashbacks to fighting one in the flooded forest. There was barely any space to move around and there were so many times I dodged into an invisible wall underwater before getting rammed. I much prefer to fight them on land, not only because they're easier but flooded forest is just such a godawful area to fight underwater. Goddamn. Here's hoping there's plenty space at least.

My favourite monster at the moment is Agnaktor. Its animations are fantastic and smooth looking. I also like the look of its armour/weapon sets.

It'll be great when I get my hands on TriG and get to try out the new and reintroduced weapons. Hopefully there'll be more endgame variety in weapons than in Tri.

TriG may be the reason I buy a 3ds, I loved tri, but I got it after the big fad had died down a bit, so people stopped playing while I was still going through, but the enhancements look pretty cool.

Monster Hunter is AMAZING, this game makes me spend some much time on it, it's incredible. I gotta admit Monster Hunter Tri kinda deceived me on the content side when I compared it to Unite but was still pretty incredible! MHTriG looks amazing and makes me even more certain of buying a 3ds :)
