Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I've found Sweet Scenting to be a great method to make sure you don't screw up the journal taps, since it tells me where the RNG is currently placed. Although I had to revert to version 4.0 to use a Seed Finder that didn't limit me to an offset less than 1000.

Now I have a 26\30\23\31\22\31 shiny Naive Azelf to show for it. :D Going for shiny HP Ground 70 Cresselia next.

EDIT: I've still got a few frames ahead that have that same spread; any suggestions as to what I should catch Naive and shiny?

You really don't need to use an old version you can always look at Method 1 spreads with any version or upgrade to 4.5 where is shows you "actual" on Method J, which is the method 1 frame. Note that offset will be two higher now for parity with Method 1 frame numbers.

Heatran?

So I did some more experimenting on Heatran with the help of Syberia. We confirmed with 100% certainty that you don't need a CAUGHT pokemon in your journal for taps. Here's what we found:

Caught OR Defeated wild pokes will advance the offset by 2.

Pokes received over wifi or at the union room will NOT advance your seed.

Hope this helps explain why sometimes your journal flipping does not work.

EDIT: Also, I forgot I activated Mesprit so I was off by 1 god damn frame on my (BAN ME PLEASE). Gonna go for it again right now. I hope I can hit my delay quickly cuz it will be epic.

Does anyone else have their Offset change after 3 or 4 SR's? I'll finally get an offset of 5 then without saving (So the NPC's don't cause the Offset to change) it'll suddenly change to 6 or something else. It's seriously annoying, having to look for an Offset again every 5 tries.

I don't have problems with the offset.

And I created a little Website App. I used Mingots CSV file, and created a small search app. I hope it's useful, and that you enjoy it!

Hello guys, now, this might be a stupid question but I'm not that familiar with the RNG methods yet so please be nice^^

I understand perfectly well how to do the Breeding stuff with right nature and shiny. no problems there, works out perfectly. (or at least nearly^^)

But as I basically use only the Egg PID stuff, I noticed there are other methods as well (naturally).
Now I know how the thing with the Eggs works out, but there's more the RNG Reporter is capable to do and taking the updates in account I guess it will be even more.

So can this program help me to get shiny legendaries(screw the IVs first, I'm a beginner) at the first try when I'm doing it right?
For what else can it be useful in terms of getting shinies? Would wild encouters with getting the right frame also be shiny?

I'm playing platinum so I don't know what works out there.
Are there things that work in Diamond/Pear that don't in Platinum?
What would that be? Is it useful and how to do it?

Which Method is for what useful?
Sorry many questions, but the tutorial at the beginning explains much about RNGing itself but not about the program and what actually can be done with it except the shiny eggs^^
Ah sorry addition: This also works out for Emerald? Same questions here, shiny legendaries, right nature stuff, wild encouters, what's possible?

So I decided to take out my dusty JP Pearl, find my SID through my only Shiny I caught (since there's no SID code for JP Pearl I think), and I found this in RNG Reporter

23/25/16/28/29/31 Hasty
Method J
Offset: 80
Date: 1/1/2092 (Happy New Year!)
Delay: 602
Time: 12:00:18
Seed: 130c02b6
PID: 489310186

Going for Palkia with this, but I want to ask some things:

1) Is Palkia's offset 1 for Pearl?
2) How do I reach that target "frame"? Following Pokerealm's example (and if offset =1), it would be hard as 79 (80-Palkia's offset) is a prime number, which would mean I have to walk around for 10112 steps with one Pokemon. Are there any other ways that would speed up this process? (that I probably wouldn't have bothered to check the last few pages on?) Is there any way to confirm the delay?
3) I heard this can be manipulated through journal flips. Tell me the specifics

iirc, the RNG advances by 1 per pokemon in your party after 128 steps. If you have 5 in your party, that's 5 advances for every 128 steps. Don't quote me on it, though. The OP has info on it.

Therefore the OP is right. The offset is 80 so walk 128 steps with an odd amount of pokemon in your party in palkia's area, don't head back into mt cornet. Then do journal flips that say caught pokemon ( 80 - # of party ) amount of times.

It's method J for most. Method 1 for some. This will work on wild pokemon also. You can check the OP and see if you find the info you need. If not, look back through the pages, I think the last 5. There is the closest thing to a guide that we have in some posts.

Hey LightningFusion reply to your thread or this rotom gets it!

this has been happening to me lately. I would hit a consistent offset but get the wrong delay and after a few resets the offset changes. Its a real frustrating ordeal but i guess theres nothign you can do about it but keep resetting.

@LightningFusion:
thanks.
For the egg breeding thing I need to defeat a pokemon and calculate it's IVs of course for legendaries this won't work anymore huh.

So for wild and legendary pokemon I need the Time and not the Seed Finder is that correct?
So I use the new DPPt Time Finder Capture?
Where I get the Max Offset and the Delay values from?
and what use are the times for?
I don't really get how to start.
I did read the pages but it's so confusing somehow.

Let me get this:
Say I have 5 pokemon

80-5 (after 128 steps) = 75
75-(75 Journal Flips) = 0
0-1 (Palkia's offset) = -1

Is this it?

My bad on the last calculation part, I put the numbers in wrong to cause confusion. You -1 from the beginning due to palkia so it's this instead:

80 -1 (Palkia's Offset) = 79
79 - 5 (after 128 steps) = 74
74 / 2 (Journal flips with caught pokemon on it) = 37

Journal flips with caught pokemon advance it by 2. Also, defeated pokemon advance it by 2 confirmed by some Supe I guess. Me and mingot couldn't get one to show up so we didn't know.

I have a few questions that I'd like answered:

1. What's method 4?
2. What purpose and use does the IVs to PID tool provide?
3. What purpose and use does the Seed to Time tool provide?
4. What does the A's and B's mean when calculating for an IV spread?
5. Can anyone tell me how to calculate for IV spreads with a specific nature?

Thanks to anyone who can answer.

I know most of you are working on the legends but is there someone who focused on the IV breeding part? by the way incredible research everyone

1.what affects the offset when IV breeding and by how much?

2. is there something inbetween SR and continue screen affecting the offset like when you see the press start message?

I am asking because when I tried to click through the start of the game a bit slower and the "press start" screen flashed (normally when you press A really fast it doesn´t) my offset changed +1 ...but this could be also due to one of the NPCs moving (most of the time the pachirisu is offscreen when I´m on my lock on (offset 4 save), but sometimes I manage to catch a glimpse of it moving into the screen in the very short time between continue and grandpa click (speak to him)...I wonder what to do

6A04027D 2009 05 18 04:02:14 628 4 31 A 31 12 A A

so anyway I got offset 4 (lock on took half a day omfg) delays 620-622-624-626 but I need 628 and when I get 628 it is offset 5 which fcks everything up...

I should mention that I have buneary running which is always on screen when getting the egg and it manages 1 step between continue-screen-and-speak-to-grandpa and I also currently have 1 cowgirl on screen but it doesn´t move (no step and no directional turn)...as I said, sometimes the pachirisu comes from the bottom and is almost non-visible (you only see a little bit of blue at the southern border of the screen)

during my lock on phase I got offset 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 I think which is crazy because those NPCs are really disturbing and I couldn´t figure them out yet (I tried to get as many off screen / or not moving on my save as possible)

so
A. does grandpa changing direction towards you when you speak to him affect the offset by any chance? I am locked above him right now which means he turns upward (+1?)
B. do NPCs on the screen who are just standing there doing nothing affect the offset? like +1 "just because"
C. does a directional turn without a step affect the offset by 1?
D. buneary (any NPC) step is +1 or +2?

well I wouldn´t ask it´s just that I am hitting the delay range all the time but always get offset 5 on delay 628 I aim for :/

also mingot if you read this could you please add a feature to the next version of RNG reporter that will only list even/odd delays in the TIME FINDER? people only get one or the other, right? it would ease searching adjacent spreads (by the way the RNG reporter is absolutely genious)

well I will research this a bit more but wanted to ask whether there is somwehere information I may have missed
