Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Use your left thumb pad to press the Pokegear . It's the fastest way to get it running when you enter the game. Also, the fastest way to engage a legendary after making Elm calls, or talk to the daycare man, is to press the recycle button at the bottom of the pokegear with your right thumb pad. You end up talking or engaging immediately if you continue pressing it.

Thanks for the advice. I do the Pokegear that way, but I've noticed sometimes I get beaten. It's not a big deal if there is only one wandering NPC, I just was looking for a general idea of what routes have 0-1 wandering NPCs so I could do some things on those first ;D

The thing about entering an HGSS game is, you don't need to worry about getting into the Pokegear quickly if your target frame is above, let's say, 10. You can figure out where you are very easily with Elm calls and still get on the correct frame even if the NPCs happened to move you a few frames forward.

The time that you might have trouble with NPCs is after calling Elm if you need to use sweet scent. At that point, you may be too slow to beat an NPC.

Yeah, that's true. I prefer to have the NPCs not screwing with me so I can verify my seed with less than 10 Elm calls once I calibrate things. If I had to worry about the NPC advancing first, I'd have to do all the calls to make sure I knew what seed I just hit >.<

I do catches so being able to Sweet Scent without failing is necessary. I mean, if the NPC was always trolling me the same way, I could live with that, but it's always easier when they're not around, isn't it? ;D

Anyways, thanks for the tips. I'll just do my best to beat the NPCs!

What you can always do after you finished doing your calling/radio advancing is, instead of pressing that button at the bottom right of the Pokegear to fully exit, just hit bit a few times, till you return to the game screen. But nothing will move and you will have your bottom screen list of buttons a little brighter. It's pretty much like pressing X in Platinum.

Or if you have an AR, you can always rebattle the trainer so that he stops moving.

Also. I am kind of compiling a list of NPC's that advance the frame in HGSS and Pt, which can be found here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/group....79&discussionid=1322&gmid=17050#gmessage17050

So if you find any NPC's that advance the frame on the routes that aren't listed (for Pt only), or that is empty, please do send me a VM with how many there are and their location <3

I think I'm a little confused by this, what does 'hit bit a few times' mean?

Nope :p

That's what I was looking for! Cool. I don't really know much except I think there are a few additional ones in Plat compared to D/P.

Might as well add the one kid on Route 34 in HG/SS. He's the one furthest South near Ilex forest. I haven't wild caught in any other areas in HG with wandering NPCs, yet.

I meant to say B, if you hit B a few times, it'll close out to the point of where you can access another window on your Pokegear without letting NPC's move, my bad for the bad wording and spelling :P

Nope :p

Yeah, I haven't done a whole lot of wild Poke captures in Pt, and since I don't DP they aren't going to be listed.
Oh yeah I forgot about that kid, I battle him like 10 times a day yet I forget to list him

Good luck with your RNG'ing.

Oh, cool. I'll give that Pokegear trick a try next time :D

I've done a good amount of captures on Plat now, but mostly in areas with 1 or less wandering NPCs.

Ok if I have two carts of the same game pair (in my case, HG and SS), is my calibrated delay for one going to be different for one than the other? Meaning could I have a calibrated delay of 500 in my SS cart, but a calibrated delay of say 600 in my HG cart?

it's certainly possible. Each game will have it's own delay, I believe.
Sometimes you'll have 2 games that have the same delay. Like my both my HG's and my SS all have a min delay of 488.

How would someone RNG abuse in the bug catching contest if you don't have a sweet scent Pokemon? Would I have to rely on turning around till a Pokemon appears. (Which could be a frame above or below by the time the Poke appears)

I don't think it's possible without sweet scenting - I imagine there are roaming NPCs there that will mess with your frames?

Is it possible to RNG (in Diamond/Pearl) Captures in Acuity lakefront, it is hailing so i assume the weather effects make it impossible? I havent tried for a while but the last time i tried to RNG there all the coin flips came back as H,H,H,H,H,etc and there were no adjacent delays with that response

You can't RNG in hail, sandstorm, or rain.

I can't RNG at all? or i just cant verify im on the right Delay? edit: [ I cant verify ]untill actually encounter the snover and seeing if its shiny or not? or RNG doesnt work at all in weather?

Yeah, sorry. I should have been more clear. You can RNG still, but you can't Sweet Scent, nor check your delay.
RNG works, in weather just a lot more difficult.

Could always do radar abuse?
Or.
In platinum the lake area has an area of grass that has no hail, and you can RNG a snover up there just fine. Sweet Scent and all.

You have to use pokeradar for weather routes.

I caught all of my shiny bug catching competition pokes without sweet scenting but bringing a synchronizer instead. I just used a parameter. :)
