Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I tried several times on no$gba, and it didn't work

I don't know how to use my R4 SDHC to put in AR codes :(
Does any know the AR code that does not mess up a pokemon?

After I am done coin flipping, am I suppose to leave the app or stay at that app?

Nothing to test Jonny figured it out. With international parents it runs through the PID for the egg and if it is NOT shiny it does a little math on it and checks again. Four times. So yeah you will get 4x the shinys, which in general means earlier frames.

Additionally, using Jonnys algorithm gave us consistent results with calcpid.

BUT here is what I would like to see tested:

Does hatching a transfered egg (from US Pearl to JP Platinum) and hatching it make it a Japanese pokemon (I know the name is, but the actual region...).

If so, a lot of us have cloned eggs and could have some great international parent fodder.

Do the 1/2048 odds of getting a shiny with int. parents work on D&P, or is it platinum exclusive.

Also do you need to know any specific information for the 1/2048 odds thing(such as secret ID or anything else, you can't see in game) or can you just randomly hatch and still have the odds of 1/2048.

I'm going to throw this out there. If you need help because you can't do it, AIM/MSN me, and I will walk you through it. My AIM/MSN/Gmail Chat are both:

Don't email me, though, that's gay. :P

I suspect that it's not Platinum exclusive. Remember how some people had a hell of a time getting the Everstone to pass nature with international parents in DP? It wasn't working at all, and now we know why.

It was known since Emerald that Everstone doesn't work with international parents, however the shiny mechanic could very well be new.

I'm going to test the international thing with a shiny egg just to see if it works. (It should, but I'm just curious)

Will be hacking one parent so that it's region isn't "ENG", though. Won't be trading it, don't worry. :P Just a test.

I tested it! It's 100% working. 1st try and got the shiny

There's nothing stopping us from transferring english parents to breed great Jap. pokemon. Or, if I can get catching pokemon down, we could try to SR for a flawless Ditto on the Jap. game, and get a perfect international parent xD.

what if we have an US parent and a Jap parent?

btw, did anyone try it with R4 / DSTTs? Their delays aren't 600 cuz it takes longer to load, best that u write down the seconds

I bred my shiny Numel and Eevee on my R4 with Japanese Platinum with parents of different nationalities. I've seen some delays that go as high as 850, but that's just because I lingered on the continue screen a bit. You should still get delays around ~600.

On the happiness checker, I double click on the empty space X times? basically, if the number i need is 200, I need to click 400 times?

uhhhh? what?

Also, load time should not be a problem as delay is the measure of frames spent from the time the screen turns black with the red (the very opening frame of the game) to the second you hit "A" to continue. Shouldnt have an effect on delay at all if you load longer. Only effects the seconds.

Well, I'm figuring out the effect of running on the NRNG. So far.

Walk/running 20 steps has no effect on the NRNG.
Walk/running 40 steps has an effect on the NRNG.

Evidence.
Original Seed:
Timid: 26/14/15/10/0/13 (No steps) Offset 82 27 seconds 599 delay

Seed after moving only 20 steps:
Timid: 26/14/15/10/0/13 (W/ Steps) Offset 82 27 seconds 599 delay

No change.

40 Steps:
Hardy: 23/0/5/3/1/19 (40steprn) Offset 64 27 seconds 591 delay
Original:
Timid: 20/5/10/19/17/13 (No steps) Offset 10 27 seconds 591 delay

40 Steps:

Mild: 6/8/23/15/15/4 (40steprn) Offset 47 27 seconds 597 delay
Original:
Quirky: 28/2/21/2/7/10 (No steps) Offset 33 27 seconds 597 delay

As you can see, the delay is consistent in all the cases, but the offset changes. The offset represents the number of RNG calls the game makes from the initial seed to create this seed. Therefore, the RNG is being called when I walk to change the seed. I don't know how it changes, as it isn't constant (it seems), but it does change.

Also, for those wondering, waiting in front of the Legendary has no effect on the NRNG.

Original:
Timid: 16/10/15/25/18/8 (No steps) Offset 6 28 seconds 613 delay
Waiting:
Timid: 16/10/15/25/18/8 (Waiting!) Offset 6 28 seconds 613 delay

Also, the Poketech doesn't effect the NRNG, like the calculator, or the coin flip, or the happiness. Changing areas DOES change the RNG. Using things like Sweet Scent in Azelf's cave does not effect the RNG (there aren't any Pokemon, so the RNG isn't used.) Taking out the bike doesn't effect the RNG.

More tomorrow. I need sleep. This shit's been keeping me up all night for the past 4 days.

I'm asking this again as it got looked over, and i'd really like to know if i need any outside devices to take advantage of the 1/2048 chance of hatching a shiny using foreign parent pokemon.

So basically if i'm just hatching eggs, no double taps, no coin flips, no nothing other than plain hatching are the odds still 1/2048.

Does the delay listed affect the outcome? For example if the first listed seed has a delay of 28614, is that a problem?

Same thing with the offset and seconds.

EDIT: About the not showing results. It has happened a few times for me. This is the most recent:

Careful. 25/21/18/6/17/31

EDIT2: Another one: Brave. 11/20/11/26/2/25

And another: Brave. 21/3/8/24/30/22
And another: Naughty. 12/1/30/19/9/13

This is getting annyoing =|

And again: Relaxed. 15/23/10/15/4/20

I'm struggling to get any seeds at all now and for the few I have gotten they have been with delays in the many thousands. Haven't had a seed appear for these 4 consecutive pokemon.

Thanks Omega.

Same thing with the offset and seconds.

If the first listed seed has that big of a delay after quickly blowing through the Continue screen, then it's not the correct seed. Pick one closer to 600.

I just need something confirmed. When I get the number of double clicks, does that mean I literally have to double click that many times? As I read in this thread (post by lorak) that each time you double click, your number goes down by 12.

Was this misinterpretion by me or si he correct?

The number of double clicks and coin flips outputted by RNGReporter is correct, as long as you do not start already on the friendship checker app. You must switch to it after you get your seed.

The first list is for RNG Reporter < 3.0, the second 3.0+
  • Find out your ID and SID for your Platinum file. For the SID, you need to use an AR code, R4 and file transfer, or the ability to trade to someone with one of the two aforementioned abilities. Also, have 5 Pokemon in your party (one open slot), and the application before happiness checker set (5). Have applications 6 (happiness checker, available in Eterna Forest Pokemon Center) and 15 (Coin Flip, available in a house east of the routegate between the Grand Lake and the route south of it, which leads west into Pastoria. Needs Rock Climb to get to it).
  • Find out at what seed your RNG starts at, after resetting. This is best found out by synching your DS's clock to time.gov (if you're in the US, or using some other accurate time thing you can keep on screen and synch to).
  • In order to do this, you have to save in a patch of grass and use Sweet Scent to lure in a Pokemon. Catch it, then find its Nature and IVs. This is best accomplished by Rare Candies and a high level of encountered Pokemon, if you don't have an IV checking code or don't wish to use one.
  • Once you have the IV/Nature, plug it into RNG Reporter (v2.1 or later), to get the time to the second that you started (choose the one with a delay closest to 600 seconds, or SR if there isn't one close enough and start again).
  • Plug that number into some Japanese Egg Seed program, following mingot's instructions, since I can't make those any clearer. You basically right-click the PID you got from RNG Reporter, go to "list" in that program, copy it, paste it into a box, enter your ID and shiny ID (?ID), click the shiny check box, and click a button for a .txt to pop up. That'll generate stuff that mingot again explains better. Those eight digit hexadecimal numbers are PIDs for shiny Pokemon.
  • Check this to find out the nature that PID gives you. If it's a nature you can use, great. If not, start again. The number at the very beginning (decimal) is how many times you would have to flip a coin, plus 1, in order to get that Egg. Slow, boring, tedious, right?
  • This is where the happiness application comes into play. Switching to that application advances the number by 12. Double tapping a blank space advances that number by 12. So, after you switch to it (one set of 12), keep double-tapping. Each time you get all your Pokemon to jump, subtract another 12 from that number. (Say the number was 491. Switching to the application brings it down to 479, double-tap brings it to 467, 455, and so on. Eventually, you'll be down to 11. If you are at 12 and would be brought down to 0, do not double tap.)
  • When you are at a number equal or less than 12, switch to the coin flip application. Switching to this application won't reduce the number. Flip a coin until you bring the number down to 1 remaining.
  • Fly to Solaceon, deposit any Pokemon you want (at least 1, for room to pick up the soon-to-be-shiny egg). Make sure you have your parents-to-be in your party. The better the IVs, the better your egg will be when you SR for it (or if you just pick it up, no SRing, just better chances of being better). Give the parents to the old lady.
  • Bike until the old man has an egg. SAVE one tile from him.
  • Pick up and hatch the egg. If you did everything right, congrats, you now have an SRable shiny egg. SR if you want to now, save if you're done.
  • Find out your ID and SID for your Platinum file. For the SID, you need to use an AR code, R4 and file transfer, or the ability to trade to someone with one of the two aforementioned abilities. • Select Plat Egg instead of Method 1. If both parent are not from the same game nationality, select International. Enter your ID and SID, and select Shiny. Select "Generate", and a list of stuff with 0 IVs will come up. Right click any list member (first one recommended), then select the bottom option of that submenu to see how many taps/flips are required. If it is of a poor nature, or one you can't use, reset and start again.
