Pretty much, all you got to do is luck out. No way of checking your delay, no way of tracking your frame. It's pretty much all luck induced.
If you dare try. Save in front of Elm's door, and let the one lady at the bottom of your screen move until you hit your correct IV frame that will make one of the starters shiny.
If you're going to a shiny starter at the beginning of the game it's assumed that you're going to RNG your ID/SID so yeah, you do need to know your ID/SID.do i have to determine mi SID to do this??

And concerning the method to use, do I have to use method j?Lowen: 5th gen Rng thread might have a better idea on how to do it, but my guess is since there are 4 for that encounter slot that its a 25% chance.
.Lele: first of all you can't confirm your delay with coin flips(annoying) so there is only one option I know of since Sweet Scent doesn't work. Thats to use the PokeRadar, and walk into the non shiny spot(guaranteed not be a radar pokemon). So it involves, first hitting your delay(confirmed by catching a pokemon via the radar) once you know what your delay looks like(the shaking spots are in the same spots for each delay) then calculate how many steps/turns to the non shiny shake spot, and add however many frames you need for the shaking spots(its in the 6th-9th post on how much the number of spots advance the frame) subtract that from your target, -6(5 for catching the pokemon and 1 for the monster frame) divide the remainder by 2 to get your journal flips. If its an odd number at the end, throw in an extra turn on your route to the shaking spot.
I got a Jolly Dugtrio on Route 228 with 31/31/31/24/31/31 doing it this way.
Hey there! I just have a quick question... I hope. ._.;;
I understand the basic concept of RNG abuse for Platinum and B/W (And have actually RNG'd a few nice Pokes... Go, go all 31 Adamant Metagross!). My question is about Platinum RNG Abuse. The guides I've read and videos I've watched are two years old, and they insist that I have to reset x amount of seconds before I press A on Continue (x being the time it takes for me to load my save file after I've soft reset. And yes, I know about Delay, too. I'm actually consistently hitting 14 seconds and 602 Delay - assuming I reset at xx:00 - , so I'm planning on using seeds that generate that time.). This worked fine for me yesterday, but my L button has been failing me, and now it won't reset for me today. Can I do something similar to B/W RNG abuse - and by that, I mean load up the game from the DS menu a second before my supposed "reset time"?
So I would still load the game from the DS menu a second before my "reset time"?
I'm not sure, but to clarify your in the room with all the water/waterfall right? If not then you are indeed on the second floor and 1 is the encounter slot for Donphan.
Hello, I asked this once, but I still don't get it.. how do I choose the right encounter slot for wild pokemon (fishing)? I want to capture a clamperl in black -> route 4 / Slot 1. But there are 4 Pokemon in the same slot! Do you just have to be lucky to get the right Pokemon?
Is there a fast way to determine if an ID/SID combo is possible? I'm using the Pandora's Box application on RNG Reporter, and it takes forever to search for an ID/SID combo
I'm trying to find an ID:47717 and SID:47767, and it's been searching for 20 minutes with no success. Here's a screenshot of what I searched:
