@Night: Maybe it's just me, but if there's any team in the West I want in the first round, it would be the Hornets. I'm hardly terrified - they are pretty damn inconsistent (destroyed by Utah? at home? WTF?) and are ultimately Chris Paul and 7 or so mediocre players. Unfortunately, I really can't see any team that can take on the Lakers in a seven-game series for now, which sucks because I really, really, do not want all the Lebron vs. Kobe drama crap that will appear (and I'm convinced the Cavs will win the East.)

Rockets are just as inconsistent.....didn't you guys lose to the Suns in Houston? >_>.
It was in Phoenix, but yeah that loss was annoying. We do have an annoying tendency to play rather badly in the 4th, and fronting Yao gives us fits. That said, we haven't lost to any really bad teams for a while, which is a major improvement for us. (we got blown out by Toronto, Milwaukee, and I know we lost the season series to another crappy team earlier in this season.)

Well, time for do or die. Suns need to win, Mavericks need to lose. Why oh why does it have to be the Hornets today though...

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think LeBron James is hands-down the best basketball player in the world right now. I saw him play live a few weeks ago, and he's unbelievable. It's like watching Neo in the matrix. He is on a different gear than everybody else. When he does a fake, it's over before you knew he threw it. Those rebounds you see him pull down on TV, he is going SKY HIGH for them. His jumper is good, but his drive is better. His passes are SO fast, I can't even believe it.
I'm not even a big basketball fan, but I would pay money to see LeBron James play again.

Weren't the Hornets doing good in the beginning? I think it's good that they won. But you know...

Suns will lose!!!!
That is until they got the injuries
First Stojakavic, then Chandler, then West, then Paul, The chandler again, then stojakovic again. Chandler should be back soon though.
What happened to jannero pargo?

So the Mavericks blow out the Jazz, clinch, and tie for 7th all through the same game. Hopefully we can keep this run going and grab 6th from the Hornets on Friday and Sunday!

Misty Swims I know two players who beg to differ and their names are Dwyane Wade and Dwight Howard.
While I agree on Wade, I'm going WTF on Howard, especially after Yao took him apart on Monday. But Lebron is not the best player in the league - I would still put Kobe and Wade over the guy.

Yao is just taller really >_>. I dunno it also depends on where the game is being played. The fact that the Rockets played that game in Houston made it all the more reason they should have won. Howard I say because he's very underrated. Howard averages 21 pts a game, 14 rebounds a game, 3 blocks a game, and is 3rd in the league with 58% at FG. He seems to get a 20/20 every other game and he's just as athletic as players like Chris Paul or Dwyane Wade.

Yao can also be relied on late game because he happens to be the one of the better free throw shooters in the league whereas, dwight will miss almost half of his free throws

Once Yao gets deep in the paint its over, and he can hit that turn around jumper. He's the best center in the nba, if only houston would give the ball to him more.

Howard should not be in the conversation about best player in the league at all. He's a good big, but that's it.

I agree that Lebron and Kobe are best in the league at the moment (not going to fight over which is better though). DWade is a solid 3rd overall but I won't give him more then that.

So with the Jazz losing and the Mavericks winning today, my Mavs are tied with the Hornets for 6th place. I don't think beating the Hornets in NO is that far out of reach considering how these guys have been playing recently. Not only that, CP seemed to have hurt his knee in the 4th quarter today.

As much as I hate to admit it, I don't think that the Jazz will stay in 8th place. They have tiebreaker over the Mavs and Hornets, and their next two games are home games against the Kings and Warriors, which should be easy. Then they have a home game against the Lakers, but at that point, the Lakers might not give a damn as their chance of passing the Cavs are not good since they lost to Portland. Furthermore, the Mavs and Hornets are both playing each other as well as the Rockets, who are hellbent on getting that 2nd seed. I think the Jazz will get 6th, and whoever loses between Dallas and NO wins Sunday's game will get 8th.

yeah here's how i see the seeds playing out:

East
1 Cleveland
2 Boston
3 Orlando
4 Atlanta
5 Miami
6 Chicago
7 Philadelphia
8 Detroit

Pretty straightforward at the top, 5-8 is tricky with only two games seperating miami and detroit right now. I have Miami going 2-1 winning both their homes games against the knicks and pistons. Philly's lost four in a row and end against Boston and @Cleveland, I don't see them winning either even though the Cavs will probably have nothing to play for. Chicago as home games against Charlotte and Toronto and have been playing well lately so they should steal that 6 seed from Philly. And all that leaves Detroit as Cleveland's first victim. now the fun stuff...

West
1 LA Lakers
2 Denver
3 Portland
4 Houston
5 San Antonio
6 Dallas
7 Utah
8 New Orleans

Three different tiers here: LA, 2-5 and 6-8. Denver plays the Kings at home and @Portland. Denver is not a great road team and Portland is very good at home so I have them going 1-1 there. Houston plays at home against the hornets and at Dallas. That dallas game is tough to predict but I give the slight edge to the mavs so we have houston going 1-1. Portland has the easiest schedule (@clips, thunder and nuggets) so they go 3-0. The Spurs play @kings, @warriors and new orleans, I think they lose either the warriors or hornets game so 2-1 for them. Hornets return the favor and beat Dallas at home but then Hornets play @rockets and @spurs while dallas plays twolves and rockets. and the jazz should win both their homes games and lose at LA.

Looks like you did your research there buddy. Although I disagree with you about Houston, I think they'll get at least 3rd seed.
