New and "creative" moveset/EV spread thread "Mark 2"

Not open for further replies.
I'm sorry it's mostly my fault as I posted three sets today and none of them were I guess too creative:(

EDIT: Woot!! 300th post:)

I can't believe nobody has actually given Baris credit for that moveset. I love it and will definately try it in my next team :)

How is future sight typeless? It has a type listed for it.

EDIT: Also could a special sweeping Dusknoir be viable?

EDIT2:
477.png

Dusknoir@Choice Specs

Modest

EVs: 252 Sp. Atk./200 HP/29 Def./29 Sp. Def.

-Charge Beam; for sp. atk. boost and fliers, waters
-Shadow Ball; STAB
-Ice Beam/HP Fire; IB for grasses/ fliers or HP Fire for steels, grasses, bug
-Focus Blast; steels,normals,rocks,darks

This set reaches 376.5 Sp. Atk. w/ all the boosts from choice specs, EVs and nature and it becomes even higher with charge beam boosts. It also reaches 313 in each defense and 281 in HP but what is wrong with this set is there is no recovery for him so he's going to be only for sweeping. I'm also worried about the low accuracy percentage on Focus Blast so maybe I could replace it with Dark Pulse?
Specs on Dusknoir seems useless. Calm Mind could perform it better and it becomes a beast of a special wall, with out the restrictions of a choice item. The moves you gave him seem wrong too.

Charge Beam is pretty horrible on Dusknoir. The whole point of choice items is so you don't have to set up. Ice beam could hit fliers harder anyways the first turn without the shaky accuracy and you don't get walled by ground types. You don't need HP Fire since you have Focus Blast and Ice beam getting you the same coverage.

So to answer your question, yes it can be viable but the set you posted can't.

*The following set is designed to be played in the Suspect Test Ladder*

The metagame in the suspect ladder is far removed from the standard one most of us are used to. Funny how changing such small things can have such big effects. But anyway, as a consequence of the absence of Garchomp, a lot of pokemon have turned to paralysis in order to protect their team from getting swept. All a manner of pokemon have this, and some surprising ones such as Gyarados.
Personally, I hate it when a random Thunder Waver ruins my own Salamence or Gyarados sweep. Therefore, I have invented a set that can use paralysis to actually boost its own strength, while at the same time supporting the above mentioned pokemon.

Say hello to GyroGross.
__________
376Metagross.png

__________
@ Life Orb / Macho Brace
Brave (+Atk, -Spd) ; Clear Body
252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Def

- Gyro Ball
- Hammer Arm / Earthquake
- ThunderPunch / Bullet Punch
- Explosion
__________
Now, before you go "lol wtf ur tryin to use Gyro Ball w somethin w 70 base spd!!!???!?!11" I'll explain the logic behind this set. The crux is to get paralysed, and usually it is very obvious that a Thunder Wave is coming your way. It has now become a standard move on Celebi, Blissey, etc. With 0 Speed IVs and a -ve nature, this Metagross sits at 130 Speed. Throw some paralysis in and you've got yourself one heck of a slow pokemon - 32 Spe. This makes Shuckle look like Deoxys-s.
At this low speed, Gyro Ball powers up to insane levels against most opposing pokemon, hitting its max base power of 150 against any pokemon with 195 or more speed. Now consider this - you have a sweeper that is immune to status and is throwing STAB 150 base power moves around from an effective Atk stat of 526. OuCH.

Hammer Arm helps to lower your speed some more, allowing you to hit even more foes harder. It also smashes Magnezone trying to outsmart you by Magnet Rising. ThunderPunch stops pesky Waters from ruining your fun and resisting Gyro Ball. The combination of Steel, Fighting/Ground, and Electric hits every pokemon in the game for neutral damage, bar Shedinja and Rotom. Explosion is self explanatory - go out with a boom once you're done with your rampage. Bullet Punch is an interesting option, as it bypasses Metagross' speed and hits with a powerful attack against anything that manages to survive, although you do become limited in type coverage then.
Now for some damage calculations for your viewing pleasure (all these assume the opposing pokemon is running no speed EVs):
__________
Paralysed Life Orb Gyro Ball vs 0/252 Calm Blissey - 82% - 96%

Paralysed Life Orb Gyro Ball vs 252/220 Bold Celebi - 66% - 78%

Paralysed Life Orb Gyro Ball vs 252/252 Bold Gliscor - 63% - 75%

Paralysed Life Orb Gyro Ball vs 120/0 DD Mence - 121% - 141%

Paralysed Life Orb Gyro Ball vs 252/0 Adamant Machamp - 85% - 100%

Paralysed Life Orb Gyro Ball vs 252/4 Calm Togekiss - 101% - 119%
__________
There we have it, folks. Just shows how much damage can be done with this Metagross set. I know it's extremely unorthodox and it doesn't sound like it can work, but I have tested it, and with clever play it has proven to be extremely effective.

I'd really love people's opinions on this new set, it makes all the testing and calculations worth it. Thanks.

I really think you'd just be better off using CBgross. Since CB MM is just as strong as max power gyro ball but doesn't require paralysis support.

No, actually, that's not true. A full powered Gyro Ball is as powerful as a CB Meteor Mash, but when boosted with LIfe Orb it is actually 1.3 times more powerful. This allows you to get the guaranteed 2HKO on things such as Bold Max def Celebi among other things.

There are pros and cons to both: CBGross is locked into a move, whereas Gyro Gross is paralyzed, meaning he may just sit there doing the bacon for a round.

Actually, both CBGross and GyroGross have a 25% chance of not doing anything - GyroGross from the paralysis and CBGross from Meteor Mash missing. GyroGross has the advantage that its attacks are 1.3 times stronger, it is not locked into a single move, and it is immune from status. Also, the whole point of this set is to take advantage of your opponent's Thunder Waves, which CBGross would just get crippled by and would sit there redundant half the time.

That looks like a cool Metagross. But revenge kills would seem to mean an end for you. A Bold Gliscor switches in, not dead from Gyro Ball and then OHKO's back with EQ. Or Garchomp or Dragonite or whoever comes in and simply gets revenge by Earthquaking you to death.

What powers up Gyro Ball more, Macho Brace or Life Orb?

That Metagross set is kind of cool actually. Personally, I'd probably try something like Gyro Ball/Hammer Arm/Rest/Sleep Talk with a Life Orb, then you're not completely dependant on paralysis to get Gyro Ball powered up.

Pokemon Name: Scizor
Moveset Name: Scizor Lead
Move 1: Thief
Move 2: Pursuit
Move 3: Counter / Roost
Move 4: Light Screen
Item: None
Ability: Technician
Nature(s): Adamant
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def

Fun little set I made to take out Azelf leads who generally SR against scizor turn 1.

Turn 1 should go:

Azelf used Stealth Rock
Scizor used Thief.
Scizor stole Azelf's Focus Sash
Azelf lost 50% of its health (50% is the average Thief should do)

Turn 2:
Azelf used Taunt / Explosion / Psychic / Fire Blast
Scizor will survive anything (even fire blast wont ko with that focus sash you stole)
Scizor uses Pursuit (does another 50%, Azelf is dead)

or

Azelf tries to switch out.
Scizor Pursuits and ohkos 100% of the time

Theif is a pretty useful attack, stealing Choice Scarfs and Lum Berrys off some of his common switch-ins. Also steals Shed Shell and Leftovers at times, so all in all, you are usually up.

The other moves are mainly for support. Counter is a fantastic way to catch things like CB metagross or a dragonite that DDed and then tried Fire Punch and open the game up for you. I am fairly certain Counter is a legal move because you can teach it to scyther and scyther can switch abilities when switching to DP from RSE. So as of now, I am 90% sure it is legal.

Roost is great if azelf used psychic and you didnt get to use that sash you stole. Roost back to full health to make sure you can abuse it. Or just use Light Screen to block all special attacks (well ... make them do minimal damage) and roost back to full health.

Light Screen obviously works wonders with Counter as well.

What do you think?_?

Then I should just use Calm Mind instead of Charge Beam but what to replace Shadow Ball with, Dark Pulse?

Yeah, i was going to quote Wayff (who's post is on page 2) to show Baris, but i thought that people would flame me calling it a different set due to the different EVs. IMO, Wayff's is much better and i have already used it to great success. Thanks Wayff.

Just a minor nitpick, MM is 85% acc not 75%

KD24, that's looks like a great set. I can see how it can be very useful, but I can also see a slight problem. A lot of Azelfs nowadays carry a fire type move to do damage to opposing Bronzong leads, and more often than not that move is Fire Blast. If Azelf has a fire move, it will use it to kill Scizor before he can steal the sash. That means that you're gambling a pokemon every time you see an opposing Azelf lead. How about if you give Scizor a sash of his own, and try X-Scissor + Quick Attack/Pursuit? That's gives you more of a guarantee that you will get to kill Azelf and not lose a pokemon.

i lthe one problem i have with that scizor lead is that it seems like it can only handle azelf. azelf are popular leads, but so are bronzong, tyranitar and infernape.

i think you need to replace the moves in slots 3/4 because all he has are dark moves and can make you start off a turn behind immediately

Sub/Salac Venusaur

003-Venusaur.jpg

Venusaur (M) @ Salac Berry
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Growth
- Hidden Power [Fire]/Hidden Power [Earth]
- Energy Ball/Grass Knot

Outclassed by other users of the same tactic in OU, Venusaur's new position in UU gives it the option of mimicking similar sets. The idea isn't anything new, just get it in, growth once or twice, then sub to 25% HP activating salac berry and overgrowth. With one growth and salac berry activated, Venusaur is standing at 448 SAtk and 426 Spd which is pretty fearsome in UU. Grass and Fire are pretty much only resisted by fire types, while changing to Earth means you get walled by flyers and other grass types.

If you post a set here, can you then go on to do a peer edit of it? Or does the set have to be reviewed by a mod or a badge holder?
Ta <

Heh, that's an interesting an interesting Venusaur set, but I'd recommend using a 30 HP IV and putting those four EVs in Defense. This way the berry activates after three subs and you still have 25% of your HP left. This allows you to have leeway with switching it in as you have enough % for Salac Berry even with SR.

@Legacy Raider: You are allowed to post a peer edit, but you need to have done extensive testing with it.

Thanks Juuka. I've tested my Metagross set to no end and it's helped me into the top 50 in Suspect, so I think I'll make a peer edit... tomorrow yawn.

Rawr. Somewhat gimmicky Raikou set, haven't tried it yet but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Kinda came about after playtesting Aldaron's Uxie, which I found really effective.

name: CM Reflect
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Calm Mind
move 3: Thunderbolt
move 4: Hidden Power Ice / Hidden Power Grass
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 64 HP / 72 Def / 96SpA / 24SpD / 252 Spe

Reflect makes getting past many potential counters much easier, particularly seeing as the vast majority of the counters to the Substitute + Calm Mind set rely on physical attacks to take it down. With a Reflect up, Raikou can potentially survive four Earthquakes from the standard Bronzong provided Sandstorm is not in play, whilst the standard will almost always only survive one. It also allows Raikou to get past Snorlax with relative ease, and also prevents Dugtrio from revenge killing it quite so easily. Bear in mind that Jolly Choice Band Dugtrio will still beat you one on one if you haven't got at least one Calm Mind under your belt first. It helps too against other physical revenge killers, particularly Scarfers such as Garchomp who fails to OHKO Raikou with a Reflect up.

This set is particularly effective with Light Screen support, to allow Raikou to sponge special hits much more easily whilst it sets up. The support Reflect brings to the team is also extremely useful. When played with other sweepers who appreciate a defense boost to help them set up, particularly the likes of Curse Snorlax, Dragon Dance Tyranitar or Gyarados, Nasty Plot Azelf and other Calm Minders such as Suicune, Jirachi and Mismagius.

Dunsparce @ Leftovers
Careful - Serene Grace
252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
- Screech / Curse
- Pursuit / Body Slam
- Thunder Wave / Body Slam/ Yawn
- Roar / Roost

Lots of slashes there. In fact, this could be separated into 2 different sets. The moves however, just have so much synergy you can mix and match. I realize this is in "Other Options", but not as a full out defensive set.

Kind of like the Screech-Pursuit Tyranitar set, but designed more defensively. Dunsparce isn't that bulky, but this set is designed to make use of his movepool. Once you switch Dunsparce in, use your status move or Roar on the next turn. This will let you scout their team, and potential cripple pokemon that would end your sweep.

I recomend you use Roost with Curse to increase your staying capability. Screech and Yawn can force switches to use Pursuit, but you should only use one, as then you cannot place Body Slam on without removing Roar or Roost.

Usage: | 158 | Hypno | 702 |
hypno.png

Throughout the extent of this metagame Hypno has always been disregarded with its potential. It is an amazing and dangerous baton passer. Look here:

Hypno @ Salac Berry
Nature: Timid
Evs: 252 HP / 252 Spe / 4 Def
~Hypnosis
~Substitute
~Baton Pass
~Nasty Plot / Calm Mind / Trick Room / Rain Dance / Barrier

With Timid nature and 252 EVs on speed, Hypno is able to reach a speed of 256, which outspeeds many common threats. With Salac its speed raises to 384, enough to outspeed Jolly Weavile.

You can easily Substitute on something like Bronzong, Hypnosis and put it to sleep. Then Nasty Plot and sub until salac and efficiently Baton Pass both speed and Sp.atk.

It can also be a viable Trick Room and Rain Dance supporter. You can also use Barrier and Baton Pass to something like Blissey and Calm Mind with Blissey and sweep with ease.

Hypno can work out its pwnage-ness at late game mostly. Being able to outspeed many threats and ending the game after scouting your opponents team.

What makes Hypno more viable than Smeargle? Well Hypno is very bulky and can take a hit to achieve salac raise. Hypno also has Insomnia, making it a great Pokemon being immune to getting slept.

I've tested this Pokemon many times on Shoddy and it works great. I am really surprised why it is an UU Pokemon and it lacks usage. I hope this can show many of you that Hypno is a really viable Baton Passer.

What do you guys think?

I had a pretty similar idea to this, Reflect and Calm Mind on a Raikou, it's too bad I did this set pretty much on paper and on my mind, so I would not test the potential it had, props and I should make a team around this set soon.

dunno. it just kinda seems like something like suicune could do it better with water typing and much better defenses. then again, I've never tested either of them, so I'm talking theorymon out of my ass. cool set.

I couldn't get it to work. Azelf always used a Fire attack. The only time it set up Stealth Rock was the only time I got a kill on Azelf. The times where I switched out fearing a Fire attack it became set up fodder late in the game. Doing less that or at 25% damage to Garchomp, Gyarados, Lucario and Suicune with Pursuit. It also gets walled like there's no tomorrow.

I didnt log any battles but this is how it went down.

Gengar - Hypnosis then killed of with Shadow Balls

Yanmega - Hypnosis then killed of with Air Slash

Bronzong - Hypnosis then Stealth Rock then Switch to a stat upper and set up. One even set up rain on me T_T

Tyranitar - Substitute Focus Punch and Crunch

Azelf - Fire Blast or Flamethrower

Abomasnow - Substitute then Leech Seed then Focus Punch

Ninjask - Substitute, Swords Dance then Baton Pass

Aerodactyl - Taunt, I Thief and get the Focus Sash. He Stealth Rocks while I Pursuit. He Earthquakes and I Counter for the KO. Yay!

You're pretty much at a disadvantage for every common lead save Aerodactyl.
