I am about 13 hours and I have just passed what many consider the first third of the game if that is any indication.

I was thiiiiiis close to buying Tales on Saturday, but pre-ordered Kid Icarus instead... now you guys are making me want to go back and... :(

Speaking of Kid Icarus, I knew the game was supposed to come with 6 AR cards, but I didn't realize there will literally be hundreds of them! Hopefully they'll all be posted online so we can just print them out or something.

Also, HECK YEAH SEGA GAME GEAR GAMES FOR THE 3DS VIRTUAL CONSOLE! That handheld was amazing when I was little! It was so far ahead of the times back then!

[edit]
@Shinyru: The DSi has been able to use WPA since it came out, but the pokemon games were retarded and didn't incorporate WPA functionality till Black and White. The reason you couldn't use WPA was the games themselves, not the DSi. The 3DS and all 3DS games are compatible with WPA.
That's what I was referring to (or trying to anyways) that the DS games themselves didn't work; I know the DSi can log onto WPA for crap like internet and downloads, but still couldn't play DS games themselves besides BW over WFC.

But ok, so the 3DS and 3DS games are all compatible with WPA? Good to know, I'm a happy camper now...wonder when the next 3DS sale will be lol, like when Best Buy was giving out $50 gift cards with a purchase of one last year.

One last question, what about like music and photos? Still crappy restrictions like the DSi on what you can play or what?

I haven't bothered at all with the sound recorder on the 3Ds and have no idea if you can even put songs on there, but the camera is decently nice. If you keep the lenses clean and protected, keep the object still, and have decent lighting you can take decent pictures with it. Its only like, older cellphone quality, but it was the only camera I had on hand when my son was born, and I managed to take some decent and sharable pictures with it.

The joke is though, that the 3D camera and the 3D video recorder were solely designed for porn though.

The 3D video recorder came out just before my wife had our son and I teased her that I was going to capture the miracle of child birth with it.

she didn't think that was funny :(

So who's gotten Tales of the Abyss? I got it and its been awesome so far.
I was a huge fan of symphonia so I had high hopes for abyss. Fairly fun so far with Jade being one of the highlights. Not as good as symphonia imo (I detest luke for a while) but still a decent game.

Hahaha.

I've taken some great 3D pictures but I wish that their file format was made compatible outside of very specific viewing circumstances, as in able to be viewed on most of the internet ideally. The 3D videos have been horrible because the camera didn't have enough time to focus as it was moving so I ended up getting a ghost image type of deal.

Next: Buying childhood classics, especially Super Mario Land (GB)

I've been playing Tales, but I'm up to a point that feels a little slow so I haven't picked it up in a while. I don't like how easy it is to miss side-quest things as well, since many of them are these long involved chains and if you miss a step the game doesn't let you backtrack to complete it for a LOOONG time.

Acklow

I am always tired. Don't bother me.
Just got myself a 3DS about 2 days ago. I don't plan on buying any of the latest titles because I'm only looking forward to Paper Mario, 999-2, KH:3D, and Phoenix Wright vs. Professor Layton.

I am not a fan of golf games. They're generally boring to me. Pull/Drag/Hold back, point in the right direction, and release at the right moment. Obviously miss the hole. Repeat until the ball happens to go into the hole. Not my idea of fun. But Fun! Fun! Minigolf Touch!, available from the 3DS eshop, manages to make what I normally consider to be a boring game fun and enjoyable.

If you happen to be a fan of making interesting mii's like me:

Fun! Fun! Minigolf Touch! finally gives you something to do with all those little dollies you made, other than the hair-pulling haxfest that is Find Mii.

For only 5$, you get quite a bit of content, all of which is unlocked as you make money by either doing well or playing through it a lot. There are 81 different, unique minigolf holes, plus 9 "trick shot holes", which are extraordinarily challenging minigolf holes. You can use any mii you've created, so you have an endless supply of quirky playable characters. You can replay courses to get extra money and try to get a higher score, so there is quite a lot of potential for playtime, though never too in-depth.

The visuals are not bad. They're nothing amazing, but they are clean and smooth. Plus, the 3D effect did help me determine how far away hills were, and just how high they were. It made a real difference to me with the slider off.

Fun! Fun! Minigolf Touch! is by no means a difficult or in depth game. Its just a simple, fun, pick-up-and-go time-waster, and finally a use for all those miis you might have tucked away in your boxes. If you enjoy real life minigolf, or if you've always wished there was something you could do with those creative miis you made when you were bored, you should definitely give this game a look. At 5$ its a reasonable purchase.

I've been considering getting a 3DS. What would be a good starting game? I want a game that uses the 3DS's capabilities. I like action-adventure type games and puzzle games, games in which my character works toward an ultimate goal (save a princess/the world, escape alive, etc.). I absolutely need a player character to keep me interested. I want a game that i can pick up and play for a few minutes, but is also engrossing enough to play for hours on end. What good game(s) has these qualities?

- Ocarina of Time 3D
- Super Mario 3D Land
- Mario Kart 7

Pick one or two or all three.

Considerably more fragile than the GBA SP I think... I left it in a side pocket throughout a busy day. SOL with the $55 repair price.

I wasn't trolling, I actually wanted an answer, and now I have received several.

Thank you, everyone who answered!

When I get the chance to get a 3DS, I'll probably get Zelda.

Anyone else here played Pokemon Rumble Blast?

I find it pretty bizarre of a game, one that's pretty annoying that none of your Toy Pokemon grow any stronger; instead, you must capture a different one. Sometimes the challenge feels a bit on the cheap side: the Eevee Coliseum which I'm stuck on now is a big example of this.

The only game I have for the 3DS is Mario Kart 7 but I don't really play it now. It was good for a month or so but it got boring pretty quickly. There hasn't really been anything else I've really wanted to get for the 3DS so far.

Dude, I fell off my bike and my 3DS landed on the side of the road and the only damage it has is a few scratches on the outer casing. Maybe I just lucked out though.

Has anyone else had scratches on their top screen from the molding around the bottom screen? I'm thinking about complaining to Nintendo and seeing if they will fix it for me. That is a textbook example of incompetent engineering.

Alright, so, I've $40 dollars to spend and I really want to buy a new 3DS game, since all I have it OoT (which was a great game, btw :D). I'm stuck on what I should get, though!

I can't decide between Mario Kart 7 or Kid Icarus: Uprising. I know KI:U isn't out yet, but I'm willing to wait for it if you guys recommend it. I've been looking at the websites for both of these games but I can't decide! KI:U seems really fun, and I love the adventure games that have a story to them (like LoZ!) and KI:U seems like it would be amazing. However, I'm a huge fan of Mario Kart and Mario Kart 7 looks just awesome. Customizable karts? Yes please! Mario Kart, unlike KI:U, doesn't have a story, but it seems like a great time killer for when I'm bored and I'll probably play it for longer than I would play KI:U (OoT just sits in my 3DS ever since I beat it D:).

I know that KI:U isn't released, so it may be hard for you guys to help me decide, but what do you all suggest? :o

I would go with mario kart, that is a REALLY fun game. Also what I'm pretty sure what nintendo does is spend less money/time making the 3ds/ds durable, more time/money giving it improved features. That's why there are so many cases I'm sure. The gameboy wasn't 250 when it came out and couldn't anything compared to the 3ds, but You could run a car over a gameboy and it would work fine (yes that has happened to me once), though I can't say the same for the 3ds.

In regards to the durability of the 3DS, I've dropped mine on the hard tiles in my kitchen at least twice and it hasn't suffered any obvious physical damage. The right shoulder button became temporarily non-responsive for a while though, which causes real problems when playing Mario Kart 7 (my item control was horrible for a while). Also, I chipped my touchscreen with my stylus because I tapped it a bit too hard but that happened to my DS as well so whatever.

@ Princess of Johto: Obviously I can't comment on KIU, but I can highly recommend MK7. It fixes up many of the problems (in my opinion) that MK Wii had. The game is focused more on actual driving rather than OMG RAPE EVERYONE WITH THIS ITEM!!!! Items still play a part in the game but not to the point of excess and many of the previously good items have been nerfed (they've found a good balance between driving technique and item use). Also, the karts are more balanced and there is a lot of variety rather than everyone using Funky Kong + Bowser Bike or Daisy + Mach Bike (there are some combos that are more common, but it isn't as obvious in MK7. The course design, cast and online features are great too. The lack of single player vs mode is lame though.

First time on this thread in awhile, but I have a random question.

On the title screen/main menu of MK7 when you close your 3DS when the game is switching between the main menu and the race it shows while waiting, does your game freeze?

Also, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah smash bros. doesn't come out until the beginning of next year.

KI:U has online multiplayer too D:
Oh yeah. It kind of reminds me of Tekken/Naruto games with the health bar and all (well, I only saw one picture; the one posted on the website under "local" multiplayer). I think I'm gonna go with MK7, though. I think I'd enjoy that more, especially from the replies you guys gave.

Thanks guys!

Also, @NidokingKing, what's this about SSB? :o
