Official NBA 2010-11 Season Thread

Actually, I would argue that Wade and LeBron are more likely to shoot threes because they're giving it up to them (The Celtics, that is). That's the best way to defend them.

They always shoot a lot of threes against the Celtics. That's no coincidence.

ugh how do you choke up a 15 point lead at halftime and lose on a last second shot while having nazr mohammed go 22/20 :|

Utah Jazz are the team of the week. I doubt any team could do what they did except the Lakers and Celtics.

Agreed on that one! I know Sloan implements a solid motion 4 out 1 in that I run on my own team in Oz (or something similar), but seeing as you're a Jazz fan I'm pretty curious as to the reason for their success. Any insights?

From what I've seen, I think it's two things. Jerry Sloan and Deron Williams. They have been starting off games sluggish. DWill tries to facilitate, but the offense isn't there. Jerry Sloan has been giving halftime speeches that fire the team up and they come out as a different team. In the 4th quarter especially, they operate at such a high level of execution on offense. This was their point total and differential on their road trip:

Heat: 42 | +13
Magic: 39 | +19
Hawks: 27 | +10
Bobcats: 33 | +11

The last time they did this was when they fired off 13 (I think it was that many) consecutive home wins last season after the All-Star break. What makes me optmistic is that it's happening early in the year before the new members are familiar with the offense. Al Jefferson still has a lot of improvement to make. The fact that they are winning huge games now means they'll only end up with a typical Jerry Sloan overachieved record.

Lebron shot what, 22 free thrpws against the celtics? I doubt that happened with him forcing up 3s against teams that let him shoot...

God dammit! FUCK Phoenix and their bitch style play.
"Hey guys, lets just chuck as many 3's as we can and we'll eventually win some games"
Of course they had to have a career high 22-40 on 3's. At least Robin Lopez is out thanks to Jared Dudley the frogface.

What was that? I thought I heard the Suns made the Lakers their bitch tonight? :P

...though honestly I'm a bit surprised the Suns came out on top, and I'm a Suns fan o.O

We'll live without Lopez against the Nuggets, but his knees better get well soon, Heat and Magic incoming >.>

Yeh

Yeh because the Suns will really hit 22 3s everytime they play the lakers.... the fact that that game was even close with over half the suns points coming from 3is pretty bad

+1. As good as it was for my fantasy team as I have JRich, I'm not worried about Phoenix as a team to be blunt. They will never hit that many threes in a game again and even a barely effective Bynum will give us enough frontline depth to force Turk to have to defend Gasol (not gonna happen folks) whilst playing at his more natural four. I do like their style of play, and they played really well today but I honestly can't see them doing that to us again.

Every time a team I like plays Phoenix, I think the same thing. Especially this year, they don't have a player that demands attention in the low post. It is idiot basketball. I love 3 pointers, but when you are shooting 40 a game as a team, something isn't right.

Live by the 3 in the regular season, die by the 3 in the playoffs.

Of course, you can't really hate the Phoenix Suns. The Lakers' perimeter defense was terrible. Anybody would have been hot that night.

Yeah, our perimeter D really did suck. I think it came as backlash after getting smashed in the paint by Denver, so we overcompensated and payed for it. Also, did you guys see Kobe's pass to himself off the backboard? Classy.

Heh he better had dominated this game after getting railed on so bad this week.

I don't care what he does this regular season, I want to see if he can step up against KG and Gasol in the Playoffs which right now, I see no evidence of that happening. Still this was a very good game offensively for him tonight.

I think the Heat will make a bit of a run since they had a lot of downtime this past week to work on their game.

lol I didn't even see the game. I was poking fun at a post made by Lakers earlier about how the words Chris Bosh and Takeover will never be used in the same sentence again. ever.

People don't realize that the only reason he put up so many points in Toronto is because he was the heart of that offense. He had to dictate and score to open up his teammates. He doesn't have to do that much of that in Miama (or at least he thinks he doesn't have to).

Well, when their frontline didnt have Robin Lopez and their most threatening guy was Channing Frye, he would've looked incredibly bad if he didnt have at least 25+. I wont count this game as a takeover, he might as well have played a d league frontline
