Official NBA 2010-11 Season Thread

Ugh,why would the Celtics do that. Having Jeff Green coming off the bench in good and all, but Perkins was their best inside defender. Krstic doesn't even come close to being as good of a defender. Not only that, they traded away two of their depth big men (Luke Harangody and Semih Erdan), meaning they now have to heavily rely more on the aging O'Neals.

Good move for the Thunder though. Ibaka/Perkins defending the middle is pretty awesome.

You also have to realize the Celtics are building a roster that can beat the Heat for a 7 game series. Perkins was their best inside defender, but he was really only good against the Magic who the C's really dont have to worry about anymore. Also if Harangody really got shipped it will make me very sad on the inside

Celtics cost themselves a championship. So much for "We've never lost with our starting line-up."

You will now. Again. Who honestly trusts Shaq and O'Neal to be there throughout the playoffs for 4 series? Not me.

From NBA.com:

Cavaliers get:
• C Semih Erden
• F Luke Harangody

Celtics get:
• 2013 second-round pick

They still have to worry about the Magic if the Celtics finish first and Magic fourth. Then there's also a chance to meet the Lakers in the finals again, with a healthy Bynum probably. I dunno, I still think they had enough flexibility with the roster they had to beat the Heat (considering they have won all games against them even while short-handed).

No one could have beaten the Celtics in the East in all honesty. The only teams they had to look at were the Lakers and Spurs. They are considerably worse now against them and the East teams.

shane battier was a good pick up for memphis. too bad about the failed oj majo trade

and damn okc raked in the boston trade. trading away an overrated green for a legit bigman C in perkins? now they got an ibaka/perkins frontcourt, and kevin durant can move back to his natural position as a 3. they even picked up nazr from the bobcats, so they have a solid big off the bench as well

not sure what the hell boston was thinking.

Maybe its that the Celtics finally realized Perkins was an offensive reliability having possibly the worst offensive game i've ever seen as a viewer, but that Harangody trade makes absolutely no sense for them

April or May.

Butler stopped the ball on offense but was good defensively (though not as good as Marion).

Peja as his replacement fits MUCH better into the offense but is not as good defensively. Overall Butler vs. Peja is a wash on this Mavs team because neither play at the end of the game where the Mavs defense excels.

If you think the Mavs were championship caliber before Butler went down, they definitely still are now, especially with how Peja is fitting in (in the last four games [he's played 7], he's averaged 15.5 pts on 9.75 shots [59%] and 63.6% from 3pt), with Beaubois coming back.

Of course if you didn't think they were championship caliber with Butler, then probably nothing I say could convince you otherwise.

I like how the Mavericks play, it's just that there is too much history of choking in the playoffs. I really don't see how the roster is much different than last year where they were the second seed.

But he was still the only guard that would take it to the hoop. Otherwise your team is just filled with jumpshooters.

You'd think you want defense considering that was the problem last year.

The Mavs' problem has always been containing guards. Offensively, they're just jumpshooters + Dirk. With Peja, that's literally all you have now without Butler. Peja's good but, he's just more softness to the Mavs.. again.

Maybe Chandler can out do himself this year. That's the only way I see it.

Butler is a forward and he wasn't good at taking it to the rim at all. He got his shot blocked more than half the time and resorted to taking step back mid range jumpers, the same area where Dirk operates.

Tyson Chandler changes the complexion of the team drastically. I was hardly a proponent of the move when it happened (I thought we could've made a better move for Dampier's contract), but this team is different because of Chandler alone. Dirk is to the Mavs offense as Chandler is to their defense.

Guards killed us last year because we had a forward playing out of position at the 2 guard the whole season (Howard and then Butler) and because Jason Kidd can't guard point guards anymore. He can, however, guard 2 guards and some SFs (he did really well on Paul Pierce a couple weeks ago when the Mavs beat the Celtics). With Beaubois returning, we have a player who can actually guard point guards as well as penetrate (which Barea has been doing, too).

I'm pretty sure Beaubois played in that Spurs series, didn't he? Although he didn't get some time.. for some reason.

He could still at least put it on the floor and was some needed athleticism. It may not be noticeable in the long regular season, but in a series a guy like that is vital if you're playing an athletic perimeter defense.
