Project OM Mashup Megathread

It's yet another time to discuss Doubles Mashups!

Stored Power
After Cresselia got banned in AAA Doubles, reactions have been mixed. One side believes Cresselia deserved to be banned but others do not think it's the case. Necrozma and Mew can be just as unforgiving when they get the chance to set up with the help of abilities such as Magic Bounce or Dauntless Shield, it's just that Cresselia's better bulk gives it more opportunity to do so. Therefore, I think Stored Power might be the biggest culprit. If Stored Power ends up banned, then I plan to free Cresselia. However, I don't think we have enough evidence for it yet, so it's all just theoretically.

Though admittedly, I did not handle the best in regards to Cresselia's suspect test and my computer broke down after an update. So I will keep my previous mistakes in mind on the next suspect test. Now for what's potentially next...

:sm/zygarde:
Zygarde
Many seem to have considered Zygarde to be potentially broken in AAA Doubles. I'm not going to spend too much time on it just yet so I will give an abridged version; Zygarde greatly benefits from other abilities such as Poison Heal and Adaptability with Thousand Arrows that can hit Flying-types and Levitate, which can also hit multiple foes.

As for my opinion, I don't agree that Zygarde is banworthy for now. Rillaboom can act as a good check to it. Dauntless Shield and Intimidate are also a good way to prevent Zygarde from wreaking havoc. Misty Surge seems like a good way to stop its Poison Heal set in theory, but it never seems to be the case. With that said, I will still plan to suspect tests in the future.

:ss/rillaboom:
Rillaboom
It comes as no surprise that Rillaboom is one of the best Pokemon in STABmons Doubles. It's the only Fake Out pivot with the ability to spread Sleep through Sleep Powder with the most reliability possible, giving its partner plenty of momentum to work around. Before DLC 2, the best way to check Rillaboom is slapping with Safety Goggles. Now with the release of Tapu Koko and Tapu Fini, Rillaboom actually benefited from it as it means Safety Goggles usage went down and has the ability to override Electric and Misty Terrain. While Tapu Bulu lacks the utility Rillaboom provided and saw little to no usage whereas Kartana just struggles to fit Sleep Powder with its moveslots and can't override terrains (Unless you're crazy enough to run Steel Roller which I won't stop you lol).

Therefore, I plan on suspect testing Rillaboom after Zygarde's AAA Doubles Suspect Test has concluded if there's no disagreement about the former.

If there's anything that I miss, let me know.

Small Update: I've already announced this on Discord, but I'm going to repost it here for more details
:ss/noibat::ss/deino::ss/dreepy:
STABmons has restricted Clangorous Soul, but it will not affect LC STABmons, thus Clangorous Soul remains legal.

Reasoning:
Dragon-Types in LC are still bad(except Tyrunt and Dreepy, ig? but I don't consider it an offensive Dragon because it doesn't even run Dragon STAB and Dreepy is more of a Ghost-type attacker imo). Most users have middling bulk and middling/average speed prior to setting up, and the extra defenses from the move are hampered by losing 1/3 HP, combined with the fact most dragons don't have recovery to compensate for it. As for the closest abusers, Noibat is the only Dragon with a recovery in the form of Roost and Oblivion Wing, but its so frail to find set-up opportunity, and if you're attempting to used Throat Spray on it, then Noibat will die to everything before setting up, and probably after setting up too, lol. Deino, on paper, looks threatening with access to Power Trip and the lack of Fairy-types in LC as Spritzee becomes a rarity to encounter, but its bulk is still middling, even with Eviolite, and its also quite slow without a boost. Dreepy is fine without Clangorous Soul, but its super frail to even get a sweep with it, and it still struggling breaking through Pawniard due lack of Fire coverage that Dragapult and Drakloak had. I don't see this abusers being broken to ban Clangorous Soul here.

TSAAA Annoucement

The TSAAA Council has decided to BAN Poison Heal.
It's a absurdly overpowered tool in the current metagame. The average bulk of the offensive abusers is through the roof, and offensive potential of some defensive abusers (eg. Curse!Regirock) makes them really hard to wall. Being able to circumvent common status spreaders (PFang!Silvally is ignored and abused for momentum, Hypnosis!Haunter/MimeG and certain Waters spamming scald are barely a hinderance) with combination of 12.5% recovery and risk-free Protect makes dealing with them through conventional means of chip damage really difficult. This has forced a slew of unconventional and otherwise unviable wannabe checks to surface, things such as Unaware Corviknight, Physdef Unaware Accelgor and Unseen Fist Gallade. Worst part about them is the fact they only deal with roughly half of the metagame. Suicune, Cresselia and Raikou manage to abuse those mons either way forcing really awkward teambuilding choices such as double Unaware Cores. Without proper checks teams are mauled by common mons like Snorlax (see: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8tiershift-1316253344)

:cinderace: :magearna: :darmanitan-galar: :dracovish: :genesect: :landorus: :spectrier:
These Pokemon are now unbanned from TSAAA due to their relatively low power level caused by lack of TS boosts and not being really threatening in metas with similar power levels (AAA,STAAAB,AAA Ubers) and being previously banned from OU which is reflected in TS banlist which we inherit from.

The final code will be:
/tour rules !Obtainable Abilities, -Arena Trap, -Comatose, -Contrary, -Fluffy, -Fur Coat, -Gorilla Tactics, -Huge Power, -Ice Scales, -Illusion, -Imposter, -Innards Out, -Intrepid Sword, -Libero, -Moody, -Neutralizing Gas, -Parental Bond, -Poison Heal, -Protean, -Pure Power, -Shadow Tag, -Simple, -Speed Boost, -Stakeout, -Tinted Lens, -Water Bubble, -Wonder Guard, 2 Ability Clause, -Light Ball, -Absol, -Archeops, -Arctovish, -Bellossom, -Guzzlord, -Shedinja, -Regigigas, +Cinderace, +Darmanitan-Galar, +Dracovish, +Genesect, +Landorus, +Magearna, +Spectrier

Q. Can you give a Pokemon a second copy of an ability it already has?
A. No. The game will assume you just forgot to give it an ability.

Q. How does 2 Ability Clause work?
A. 2 Ability Clause only applies to the chosen abilities (like in Almost Any Ability). For example, a team with Alakazam, Suicune, and Bisharp does not violate 2 Ability Clause, because although all three Pokemon have Inner Focus, it is not their chosen ability. Note that a special variant of 2 Ability Clause, dubbed 'Regenerator Clause', prevents more than 2 Pokemon on the same team from having Regenerator as either a base or chosen ability. The reasoning for this is explained here.

Q. How do Impostor, Mummy, Neutralizing Gas, Trace, and Wandering Spirit work?
A. Good question, and it depends on if they're the base ability or the chosen ability:
Ability:When used as the Base AbilityWhen used as the Chosen Ability
MummyChanges a random ability, does not work on pivot movesChanges random ability to Mummy
TraceCopies random abilityCopies random ability
Wandering SpiritSwaps random abilitySwaps chosen ability
ImpostorFailsWorks as normal, copies all abilities of target*
Neutralizing GasNegates all abilitiesAllows user's abilities to activate first*
*Impostor and Neutralizing Gas are restricted, so only Ditto and Weezing may choose to run those abilities in their chosen slot.

Q. Why so many complex bans?
A. Much like the Other Metagame Shared Power, combining abilities on the same Pokemon can give us some terrifying results. Every one of these complex bans was selected because they dealt with their respective problems in the most efficient way. For example, neither Primordial Sea or Swift Swim are broken abilities by themselves (Rain teams are definitely viable here, but not overwhelming). However, Primordial Sea Kingdra is a nightmarish win condition that invalidates every other form of speed control and warps the entire metagame around itself. Hence, by banning the combination of Primordial Sea + Swift Swim, Pokemon that use either ability and aren't broken aren't affected, while the actual abusers of the strategy are nerfed properly.

Q. Why is ________ banned?
A. Some of these bans can seem confusing or nonsensical at first, but trust me, there's a good reason for all of them. I've compiled a list of ban reasonings that can be found below:
:blacephalon: Blacephalon: Already banned in AAA, but now it gets Beast Boost.
:buzzwole: Buzzwole: Already banned in AAA, but now it gets Beast Boost.
:clefable: Clefable: The combination of Unaware and Magic Guard makes it nigh-impossible to break through. Combine this with Dauntless Shield to become the best physical wall, utility Pokemon, setup sweeper, and offensive juggernaut in the tier.
:conkeldurr: Conkeldurr: Banned in Pokebilities, but here it can run Triage for priority or Toxic Boost for even more absurd power.
:dracozolt: Dracozolt: Banned in Pokebilities, but here it can run various power-boosting abilities as well as No Guard to solve its accuracy issues.
:dragapult: Dragapult: Already banned in AAA, only further buffed by the addition of Clear Body and Infiltrator.
:gengar: Gengar: Already banned in AAA, banned here for the same reasons.
:kartana: Kartana: Do I really need to explain this one?
:mienshao: Mienshao: Reasoning explained here
:noivern: Noivern: Does the exact same thing that it did in AAA, but in a format where Silvally-Electric/Steel can't run Assault Vest.
:obstagoon: Obstagoon: Reasoning explained here
:pangoro: Pangoro: Reasoning explained here Triage has been restricted, so Pangoro has been unbanned
:perrserker: Perrserker: Reasoning explained here in a fantastic post by Don Vascus
:porygon-z: Porygon-Z: Already banned in Pokebilities. We didn't even bother testing this thing in PokeAAA, very clearly busted.
:rillaboom: Rillaboom: Choice Band Tough Claws Rillaboom was the best and most common wallbreaker and revenge killer in the meta. Grassy Glides from this monster would commonly OHKO neutral offensive Pokemon and easily picked off threats who resisted it after some chip. Rillaboom was frankly oppressive, and could even blow through its checks like Corviknight with Superpower and Knock Off after chip.
:tapu bulu: Tapu Bulu: Reasoning explained here Triage has been restricted, so Tapu Bulu has been unbanned
:tapu lele: Tapu Lele: Reasoning explained here
:weavile: Weavile: Already banned in AAA, and did the exact same (oppressive) thing here

Prankster: While at first seeming fairly innocuous, Prankster makes defensive Pokemon like Toxapex, Quagsire, and Blissey into unbreakable monsters. Unlike AAA, where Prankster comes at the opportunity cost of a different ability, these Pokemon have access to Prankster and their already fantastic base abilities at the same time, allowing them to negate their awful speed stats and gain an advantage over any Pokemon that can't solidly 2HKO them.

Regenerator Clause: Before Regenerator Clause was implemented, several teams were made that featured 3-4 Pokemon with Regenerator as a base ability (usually a combination of Slowbro, Toxapex, Tangrowth, Amoonguss, or Tornadus-T) plus two more Pokemon with Regenerator as a chosen ability. These cores were literally unbreakable and could easily lead into an endless battle if two of them fought.

Unburden: There were two devastating types of Unburden sweepers prior to the ban: Terrain and Power Herb. Terrain sweepers (who used the Terrain Seeds) were very easy to fit on teams as a win condition thanks to the lack of opportunity cost to run Terrain Surge abilities. Pokemon like Nihilego and Celesteela could use Power Herb + Meteor Beam to immediately gain +1 SpAtk and +2 Speed while simultaneously firing off a powerful 120 base power move in the process. If Meteor Beam KO'd a Pokemon, Nihilego/Celesteela would get to +2/+2 in a single move.

Big thanks to Instruct for helping us simplify the tournament code!
Effective immediately, Clefable, Conkeldurr, and Prankster have been banned, and Pokemon may no longer use Regenerator and Multiscale/Shadow Shield together.
  • :clefable: Clefable is an overwhelmingly centralizing defensive and utility Pokemon that has been the subject of noticeable community backlash. Simultaneous access to Unaware and Magic Guard prevent Clefable from being broken by setup sweepers and passive damage, which are two of its best checks in most formats. For an additional ability, Clefable has numerous excellent options, with the most prominent being Dauntless Shield and Regenerator, both of which make it even harder to take down. Very few Pokemon are able to deal with Clefable; Setup Sweepers with Mold Breaker are generally the best option, but those can simply be switched out on and dealt with by teammates.
  • :conkeldurr: Conkeldurr hits stupidly hard. Guts, Sheer Force, and Iron Fist are all excellent base abilities that greatly increase Conkeldurr's power (Thunder Punch and Ice Punch become 117 base power coverage moves), and on top of that it gets to choose another ability. The two most dangerous abilities are by far Toxic Boost and Triage. Toxic Boost Conkeldurr hits an effective 936 attack once it has been poisoned by a Toxic Orb, and from there it can OHKO or 2HKO every pokemon in the metagame. Triage is quite dangerous as well, as Conkeldurr can easily sweep teams with a +3 priority 90 base power Guts-boosted Drain Punch.
+1 252+ Atk Guts Conkeldurr Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 357-420 (89.2 - 105%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Guts Conkeldurr Thunder Punch (117 base power) vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 300-354 (76.1 - 89.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252+ Atk Guts Conkeldurr Thunder Punch vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 195-230 (49.4 - 58.3%) -- 68% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • :sableye: Prankster enables several overwhelming defensive Pokemon such as Toxapex, Quagsire, and Amoonguss. In most AAA formats, Prankster comes at the opportunity cost of not running other key defensive abilities like Unaware and Regenerator, an opportunity cost not present in this format due to Pokebilities. Prankster severely limits counterplay to its users, as their normal weakness of speed has been removed. Standard counterplay like 2HKOing these mons with a faster wallbreaker is not possible with Prankster recovery moves, and having priority utility moves also lets these Pokemon be more disruptive to the opposing team.
  • :lunala: The combination of Regenerator and Shadow Shield is incredibly overwhelming, and makes defensive Pokemon with Regenerator (Toxapex, Reuniclus, Slowbro, etc.) incredibly hard to take down. All of these Pokemon become nigh-unkillable with the combination, and with Heavy Duty Boots or Magic Guard to ignore chip and hazard damage, they become even more unkillable.

Additionally, here is a list of things the council will be looking into in the future:
  • Toxapex: While the Prankster ban may keep it under control, Toxapex still has plenty of excellent options available (Mold Breaker, Volt Absorb, Magic Bounce, etc.) that let it wall a significant portion of the metagame.
  • Regenerator Cores: While 2 Ability Clause prevents you from giving Regenerator to more than 2 Pokemon per team, it does not apply to Pokemon who natively have Regenerator. As a result of this, many teams have been seen running upwards of 4 Regenerator Pokemon, who can easily shrug off damage while forming both potent defensive and offensive cores. Depending on how things go, we may end up limiting the number of Regenerator mons useable on a team.
  • Tapu Lele: This mon hits stupidly hard. Psychic and Moonblast blow through anything lacking a 4x resistance, and Focus Blast rounds out its coverage nicely. However, it's limited by its poor bulk and reliance on prediction to deal damage.
  • Reuniclus: Magic Guard and Regenerator is a potent ability combination, allowing Reuniclus to make use of abilities like Sheer Force and Psychic Surge (as well as being the primary user of the now-banned Shadow Shield).

4/21/21: Perrserker, Pangoro, Tapu Lele, Zamazenta-Crowned, Hypnosis, Sing and Sleep Powder banned; Keldeo and Zeraora unbanned; Regenerator limited to 2 Pokemon per team

6/29/21: Rillaboom and Blacephalon banned

4/30/22: Massive overhaul following the Tournament Code fix and the LCOTM announcement. Changes include new sample teams, removal of outdated samples, VR update, and several bans listed below.
Bans: Magnet Pull, Noivern, Weavile, Regenerator + Emergency Exit / Wimp Out.

5/2/2022: Keldeo, Mienshao, Obstagoon, Tapu Bulu banned, Unburden Restricted

5/11/2022: Instruct makes the godawful evasion team, all RNG in the tier is banned. Gengar is also banned.

6/2/2022: Reuniclus banned, Proper 2 Ability Clause implemented

Thanks everyone for reading, and we hope you enjoy PokeAAAbilities!

CAAAmomons Update

:sm/cresselia: :sm/blacephalon: :sm/urshifu:

Urshifu-Single-Strike, Blacephalon, Cresselia, and Poison Heal have been banned from CAAAmomons!

Reasoning: We believe CAAAmo is in an unbalanced state as of right now as council, and have highlighted the few mons/abilities causing issues in the meta.

:Urshifu: This thing with Wicked Blow honestly does not belong in the tier. Between running Band Sniper to break through traditional checks and even dauntless dark type resists to running Adapt/TC bu sets, this mon is almost impossible to wall comfortably without resorting to heavy dark resists like Buzzwole, which can be 2hko'd with Doom Desire or Future sight support. Not to mention its secondary stab often targets wicked blow resists.

:blacephalon: Blacephalon has proved itself as an overwhelming breaker, between two sets: MGLO and Psysurge. The former requires certain type combos to specifically check Mind Blown + Psyshock, while being able to cripple its checks with Knock Off, while the latter absolutely shreds slower teams with 151 base SpA Expanding Forces and having yet another way to cripple checks in Trick.

:Cresselia: This one was a little complicated, but after further testing Cresselia is an unhealthy presence in the metagame. Abusing mainly Unaware or Poison Heal, Cresselia could quite comfortably sit on almost all breakers that didn't carry super effective coverage, and could even stomache those if it needed to in a pinch thanks to its insane bulk. What pushed Cresselia over the edge is having access to the Fairy typing giving it only 2 weaknesses that aren't the easiest to capitalize on, requiring specific breakers in order to ensure you didn't get walled and set up on by it. While being held back by Moonlight's 8 PP, Cress didn't need to click it much thanks to being bulky enough to accumulate health more often from leftovers/sludge.

:toxic-orb: In addition to the issue in AAA of Poison Heal being able to gradually heal win conditions of a team back to full, creating a messy scouting meta with protect, and warping the meta around it, Poison Heal's problem also is exemplified by all users having access to STAB Facade, enabling annoying breakers that require even more defensive and specific methods of dealing with (Gastro Acid, Worry Seed, Mummy provided the pheal user makes contact). Removing Poison Heal should allow offensive and defensive teams alike to make healthier progress throughout a game.

  • With that being said, here are some things to be watchlisted:
  • :Spectrier: Potent special wallbreaker with deadly ghost STAB and dark STAB for normals.
  • :Zeraora: Ridiculously good offensive pivot that finds it easy to make progress on a team and being difficult to revenge outside of priority.
  • :Dragapult: Fast pivot along with Zera, strong potential with dd/specs sets while being hard to revenge

I would like to issue an apology for the lack of activity, things happen but we are glad to push these exciting new changes out!

Today I want to talk about sets I've been experimenting in Stab N' Mega Best Meta BTW play it more

This set takes inspiration from Desolate Lando from STAAAbmons

:Landorus: (M) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Precipice Blades
- Dragon Ascent
- Weather Ball
- Swords Dance

89/145/90/165/110/101

Noticably its weaker due to the lack of Life Orb, based on these Calcs

252 Atk Life Orb Non Mega Landorus Precipice Blades vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mew: 250-294 (73.3 - 86.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Charizardite Y Landorus Precipice Blades vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mew: 213-252 (62.4 - 73.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

However the surprise factor and the high powered moved that can lure in Latiasite Solgaleo and Manectite/Sablenite Corviknight with Drought Boosted Weather Ball, since both can switch in to both boosted stabs, even if the sun can give away the set, as people might believe it'll be the Lucarionite set thats actually better imo. It gets mopped by -atespeed users but it pairs well with Altarianite Arcanine if you run Fire Lash since Fire Lash can cripple defensive walls and the Sun provides Full recovery with Morning Sun. I think Landorus is fun and this set, though its weaker than deso lando, is still neat to play with.

Another set that i find really fun and good is Scizorite Urshifu-RS

:urshifu-rapid-strike: @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Storm Throw
- Surging Strikes
- Aqua Jet
- Flip Turn

100/150/140/73/80/107

Just playing with this in the tournaments, Urshifu RS with Scizorite lets Surging Strikes become 37.5 base power each hit. Its Weaker than Lucarionite but with Scizorite you can run another mon with Lucarionite which allows for team diversity, which my team has Lucarionite Kyurem. And on top of things Scizorite provides better bulk and a bit more speed, it becomes a good revenge Killer. This can pair well with Altarianite Arcanine with Fire Lash (I love this set btw, Offensive Fire Lash)

Overall i think both sets each have uses, although both are outclassed either by other stones or other mons, they can both be effective in teambuilding with diversity and overall fun. Let me know what you guys think and also i would love to Discuss Dragonites State of the metagame. Personally i believe its overwhelming on the teambuilder because you HAVE to prep for it or you lose. The most broken -Ate Speed user because Dragonite can set up and has coverage to beat its counters, also very bulky most likely requiring more than one -ate speed user to revenge. I can elaborate more on how unhealthy with stones it is but that can be in another post. Have a beautiful day!!

AAA Doubles will be suspect testing Zygarde!
:ss/zygarde:

Being a heavy demand by the community, it's time to suspect test Zygarde. The main selling point of Zygarde is undoubtedly Thousand Arrows, a Ground-type move that hits multiple foes and being able to hit Flying-type and Levitate that's normally immune to. While having a useless ability in Aura Break held Zygarde back in standard Doubles, Almost Any Ability grants Zygarde numerous abilities such as Adaptability and Poison Heal to take advantage of. Adaptability is its best ability for Zygarde in general while Poison Heal works spectacularly on Dragon Dance set that capitalizes on its fantastic bulk with the added benefit of preventing it crippled by poison and sleep. While other abilities are good on Zygarde such as Thick Fat and Mirror Armor, most of them do come with a significant cost compared to these two defining abilities. Well, except for the broken Tinted Lens. Numerous Pokemon can also easily support Zygarde as well through Follow Me and Heal Pulse

However, despite possessing plenty of advantages, Zygarde isn't without its flaw. The biggest being its 100 Attack stat isn't too impressive without boosts which makes Intimidate and Dauntless Shield a good general check to Zygarde. It being weak to Fairy and especially Ice is also easy to exploit. The abundance of Rillaboom serves as a good check to Zygarde due to its good bulk and resistance to Ground. Lastly, speed control of any form can handle Zygarde well.

For the requirement to vote, all you need is a Smogon account and joined at least 1 tournament with 1 win. You can use screenshots and Replay can be used as proof, but we will screenshot the winner just in case.

The suspect test will conclude on Monday, 3rd May. We will announce the schedule at a later date.

Update:
The schedule will look like this (which will be heavily subject to changes)
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9-11 PM (GMT +8) and/or 2-3 AM (GMT+8) (An hour after the Daily tournament or so)
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: 9-12 AM (GMT+8) and/or 11PM-12 AM (GMT+8) (An hour before Daily or so)

And then there were three...

I am pleased to announce that CringeMeta has joined Poka and I as mashups leader and RO! He has been a crucial contributor to this project since its inception a little less than three years ago. Iolanthe, the github repository and trashchannel would not be possible without his involvement, on top of that he has been a massive help when it came to making sure the room runs smoothly. He will certainly help the room grow and improve even further, so make sure to give him a warm welcome!

Thank-you so much!

It has been a privilege to watch mashups grow from a groupchat struggling to stay open across server restarts, to a small private room, through to the modern era in which tiers like STAAABmons have previously unimaginable development and player skill. But even from the very beginning, the potential the room had was clear: a place where something of the excitement and fascination of playing a new OM, the kind of moments we had previously looked forward to enjoying once or twice a month, could almost be experienced every day. I hope that I can help continue pushing that potential for new metas and new experiences out into the future.

Shoutouts to all mashups staff, past and present, for your help, support and guidance over the years!

PokeAAAbilities Updates:
Hello PokeAAAbilities Players! Thanks to the immense amount of community involvement, PokeAAAbilities has undergone quite a bit of metagame development! As the metagame has gotten more developed and complex, the need for a larger council has become clear. As a result, I would like to welcome Binacleisthebest and 23gz to the council!

Next up, we have the new changes to the metagame:

Bans:
:tapu lele: Tapu Lele has been banned due to its overwhelming power. Choice Specs sets OHKOd or 2HKOd every Pokemon in the metagame bar Aegislash, which is the only Pokemon that resists Psychic, Fairy, and Fighting coverage. Due to this very limited counterplay, if you lacked an Aegislash, Tapu Lele would claim a KO nearly every time it was sent out.
:pangoro: Pangoro has been banned due to the incredible combination of Triage and its native abilities in Iron Fist, Mold Breaker, and Scrappy. The combination of these abilities lets Pangoro spam +3 priority 90 base power Drain Punches that ignores defensive abilities and can also hit Ghost types. Access to Swords Dance further increases Pangoro's sweeping prowress, and the set is rounded out by Knock Off to delete Psychic types and Gunk Shot to blow through any Fairy types.
:perrserker: Perrserker has been banned because of the absurdly powerful combination of Tough Claws, Steely Spirit, and Steelworker, which turns Iron Head into a nasty 270 base power attack, even before STAB. The only Pokemon able to avoid an OHKO or 2HKO from Perrserker are Steel-resistant physical walls running Dauntless Shield, the only prominent users of which are Corviknight and Slowbro. Perrserker also has access to U-turn to pivot out on these walls, making it much harder to check. Close Combat and Fake Out make Perrserker even scarier, as Close Combat destroys most Steel types looking to check it, and Fake Out allows it to revenge kill low-health Pokemon.
:zamazenta-crowned: Zamazenta-Crowned is unbanned in Pokebilities, and it slipped past our radar because everyone assumed it was banned here too. Because of its high BST, great typing, and an excellent base ability in Dauntless Shield, Zamazenta-Crowned is banned.
:crobat: Hypnosis, Sing, and Sleep Powder have all been banned. The combination of No Guard and a low-accuracy Sleep move is very potent, as Pokemon that run this combination can temporarily incapacitate an opposing Pokemon, severely limiting their potential counters. The most prominent abuser of this was Crobat, who could Hypnosis anything with less that 130 base speed and proceed to demolish teams with Nasty Plot-boosted Hurricanes, which conveniently don't miss due to No Guard. While the other potential users (Jolteon, Persian, and Gengar) would most likely not be as difficult to deal with as Crobat, the combination of No Guard and Sleep moves would still be very uncompetitive, and has been banned as a result.

Unbans:
:Clefable: Clefable has been unbanned! Clefable was initially banned due to massive community backlash over its access to Unaware and Magic Guard on top of a defensive ability. However, the metagame has evolved and shifted greatly, and the council has realized that Clefable will neither be unbreakable or overcentralizing in the current state of PokeAAAbilities.
:Keldeo: Keldeo has been unbanned! Originally banned in AAA due to abusing Tinted Lens, the ban carried over to PokeAAAbilities when the format was first created. However, Tinted Lens is banned in PokeAAAbilities, which means that the primary reason to ban Keldeo is no longar applicable. Additionally, Keldeo does not benefit from its base ability, Justified, which further contributes to the unban reasoning.
:Zeraora: Zeraora has also been unbanned. Zeraora was banned in AAA due to its wide coverage and ability to use Tough Claws to spam boosted contact moves. However, in PokeAAAbilities, checks to Zeraora are incredibly common, and its best answer in Corviknight (either Volt Absorb or Delta Stream) is one of the best Pokemon in the metagame.

Restrictions:
:slowpoke: No more than 2 Pokemon on the same team may have the ability Regenerator. Regenerator Cores are a staple of AAA formats, and PokeAAAbilities is no exception. However, while 2 Ability Clause prevents more than 2 Regenerator Pokemon in other AAA formats, it does not apply to Pokemon that natively have Regenerator in Pokebilities. Due to this mechanic, players are able to add Regenerator to two Pokemon who do not already have it, and then bring multiple other Pokemon that natively get Regenerator. The presence of so-called Regen Stacking cores is unhealthy, as these cores consist of multiple members who are able to swap freely between each other with very little consequences. These cores are incredibly centralizing, as breaking them is nigh-impossible. As such, the council has decided to limit the number of Regenerator users to 2 per team.
-Amoonguss ++ Audino ++ Corsola ++ Duosion ++ Eldegoss ++ Foongus ++ Gossifleur++ Ho-Oh ++ Mareanie ++ Mienfoo ++ Mienshao ++ Reuniclus ++ Slowbro ++ Slowbro-Galar ++ Slowking ++ Slowking-Galar ++ Slowpoke ++ Slowpoke-Galar ++ Solosis ++ Tangela ++ Tangrowth ++ Tornadus-Therian ++ Toxapex ++ Regenerator > 2

The first few lines are a collection of every Pokemon with Regenerator. This section of code bans more than 2 of any of the Pokemon on the list and Regenerator users.

Thanks for tuning into the metagame updates! We're so glad that people are enjoying PokeAAAbilities, and we're hoping to assemble some sample teams by the end of the week. Good luck, and thanks for playing PokeAAAbilities!

Hey its me, with another inspiration. Recently, Spectrier got banned from STAAABmons. The leader had posted some sets that opened my eyes so i thought i share ideas on Spectrier on Stab N' Mega because i am theory crafting based on its best sets on STAAABmons and transfer over to SNM. Here we go

:Spectrier:
Spectrier @ Sablenite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hex / Moongeist Beam
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Will-O-Wisp / Dark Pulse

100/75/110/165/130/100

This trades speed into extra bulk but its really good at tanking hits. Same special attack as Calyrex-S just bulkier. Enough HP for 101 subs and speed to outrun Arcanine. Sets up infinitely against Corvinight, Spreads burns or hitting hard. Can actually take Dragonite Espeed

:Spectrier:
Spectrier @ Altarianite
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Hyper Beam
- Moongeist Beam
- Nasty Plot

100/105/80/185/80/130
Ghost/Fairy

This beats Dark types. The original set had Expert Belt but hey 185 special attack STAB Hyper Beam is sooo much better. I am so looking forward into trying this set and see how it performs.

:Spectrier:
Spectrier @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Moongeist Beam
- Dark Pulse
- Taunt

100/95/90/155/110/130
Ghost/Dark

Loses to the myriad of Altarianite users but it can beat stall/balance. Ghost/Dark is such a great typing since its only weak to fairy. It can actually beat Blissey since Blissey is taunt bait thanks to Mold Breaker. This set is kinda standard in regular MNM but lets jack it up with Moongeist Beam

Every time i see a set that intrigues me in STAAABmons, i want to use it but basically in Stab and Mega, since its my favorite meta, but STAAABmons isnt far behind. Thank you so much for reading this post, and please play Stab N Mega, i love it so much

It has been almost a week since the suspect test was held, so I'm going to announce those that got the requirement to vote by winning at least 1 tournament.

HeatEdgeSword, longhiep341, Derpeddeath, and BriefMarigold4 are now qualified to vote for Zygarde! Unfortunately, it seems that Advt and Is It Hailing don't have a Smogon account, so they may need to verify it.

Update: The Dragon Master has confirmed that they are Advt, welcome aboard!
Update 2: I have also gotten confirmation that Far too complex is Is It Hailing, welcome aboard too.

Also please share any potential spotlights you would like to see in the future!

It’s always gaming time
is a Pre-Contributor
As an BH player, I’m really excited for this new spotlight and am looking forward to playing in tours against other OMM room users. I’d like to share some initial ideas for sets, and many of these are based on actual sets in BH, just scaled down into an LC-sized package. There’s definitely tons of room for creativity here, though, so I’m excited to see how this develops.
:ponyta:
Ponyta @ Choice Band
Ability: Desolate Land
Level: 5
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Power Whip

Ponyta is one of the highest BST LC mons, and turns out its typing and stat spread makes it the ideal V-Create nuker. Based on the now-banned Zen Galarian Darmanitan, among others, V-Create in sun offers a blisteringly powerful hit to decimate most defensive mons that do not resist it, while also tearing apart offense thanks to Ponyta’s great speed tier. Choice Scarf could possibly be used to destroy offense even harder, but you give up some of the power to break apart the sturdy walls of the tier, so pick whatever your team needs. Adamant could be used for even more power, but I think Ponyta’s speed tier is way too good to pass up.
:abra:
Abra @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
Level: 5
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power

Based on Mega Mewtwo Y from Gen 7 BH, the premise of this set is simple: hit everything as fast and as hard as possible. The last two moveslots are very customizable, with Abra being able to use the suggested options, along with Flamethrower, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, Volt Switch, and even Focus Blast. It really depends on the specific targets you want Abra to hit, so have a fun time picking your checks with this one. Keep in mind imposterproofing could be difficult with this.
:corsola-galar:
Corsola-Galar @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Bounce
Level: 5
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Defog
- Recover
- U-turn
- Core Enforcer

Getting into some bulkier options here, this Corsola is based on BH’s very own Giratina. With fantastic bulk and a great typing, Corsola-Galar can stand in the way of many physical attackers as they struggle to damage it. Magic Bounce and Defog give it a great matchup against other defensive and utility mons, as it deters hazards and stops most passive damage. U-Turn is your classic brainless pivot, while Core Enforcer allows you to ruin Poison Heal mons that may try and set up on you. Minimum speed helps Core Enforcer do its job better, and helps U-Turn give free switches into frailer teammates.
:bronzor:
Bronzor @ Eviolite
Ability: Prankster
Level: 5
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Brave Nature
- Recover
- Haze
- Body Press
- U-turn

Bronzor is another very bulky mon with a good typing. Its inspiration, Registeel, has (fortunately) fallen out of favor this gen, however I think Bronzor can still shine in LC BH. Body Press is a fun new toy that Gen 7 Registeel would have killed for, allowing Bronzor to deal actual damage on its own. Prankster allows easy healing and Hazing to stop setup sweepers in their tracks, while minimum speed and U-Turn assist in bringing frail teammates into play. Bronzor, like Registeel, likely has many different sets ranging from Fur Coat to Regenerator to Flash Fire, but this was the first thing that came to my mind. I’m sure this mon has tons of potential in this mashup.
:munchlax:
Munchlax @ Eviolite
Ability: Imposter
Level: 5
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Extreme Speed
- U-turn
- Haze
- Recover

Imposter is back, doing what it always does. Based on everyone’s favorite Chansey and Blissey, Munchlax’s high HP makes it the ideal Imposter. It will usually be using its opponent’s moves, so its moveset is meant to make it as useful as possible in the rare cases where Imposter cannot activate, such as against another Imposter or if the opponent has a Substitute. Unlike our blobby buddies, Munchlax has an actual attack stat, meaning STAB ESpeed can do a great job at killing opposing imposters that may be at low health or transformed into something frail. Minimum speed and U-Turn allow brainless pivoting. Haze lets Munchlax stop sweepers behind Subs, while Recover allows it to top off its HP after stomaching an attack to use Haze, before breaking the Sub with ESpeed and likely forcing the opponent out. Otherwise, use as you would use the blobs in regular BH.
Feel free to comment on my sets, any improvements you think could be made. Looking forward to the development of this mashup, will definitely look to play some tours over the next few weeks.

the other sets are fine but in relation to ponyta, never use power whip when grav apple exists. Yeah sure its like 35bp weaker but it also doesn't miss and lowers the def of the oppo by 1

sort of like the thundy kick vs close combat situation but this time theres a clear winner

Posting 2 set for LC BH:

:ss/wailmer:
Wailmer @ Eviolite / Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
Level: 5
EVs: 196 HP / 196 Atk / 236 Def / 196 SpA / 236 SpD / 196 Spe
Jolly / Naive Nature
- Fishious Rend
- U-turn
- Spectral Thief / Boomburst
- Shore Up / Final Gambit
If you can't find other Imposter user and want Munchlax to do other non-Imposter stuff like a Ice Scale wall, then Wailmer is your best replacement for this role, as it has the second highest HP of all LC mons.

:ss/munchlax:
Munchlax @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Level: 5
EVs: 236 HP / 236 Atk / 196 Def / 196 SpA / 236 SpD / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Facade
- Spectral Thief / Knock Off
- Spore
- Shift Gear
This is a set reminiscent to BH's Regigigas. At first glance, it seems weird for Munchlax to run Shift Gear, after all it is the slowest Pokemon. However, in a Little Cup environment where Speed Tiers are compressed, Munchlax can advantage of this and 1 Shift Gear boost turns Munchlax from a slow base 5 Speed mon to become fast to the point it outspeeds Elekid, one of fastest unboosted Pokemon.

And for other things, I have posted a 1 new Sample Team for LC BH, the description will be up shortly and i will be accepting some sample teams if possible. The setpedia will be undergo some update in the near future

Also, note that the move "Octolock" is indeed legal in Little Cup Balanced Hackmons, but I will be monitoring it if the move is broken in this mashup.

New Sample Team:
:ss/tangela::ss/munchlax::ss/hippopotas::ss/corsola-galar::ss/wailmer::ss/pawniard: - LC BH: Double FurScale ft. bulky sweeper

:zygarde:
Going to leave my thoughts on Zygarde in AAA Doubles. While I initially think it's not banworthy, I changed my mind about it. To start with, I find Zygarde to be very centralizing since it's made Electric-types less viable and a good answer to Sun thanks to its fantastic bulk. More importantly, Zygarde has a variety of options to choose from, allowing it to get around a specific element that it otherwise had trouble in standard Doubles OU. In addition to Adaptability pick up KO that it won't and Poison Heal or Magic Bounce to block any other status, Refrigerate has been used during the suspect test as a way to surprise anything weak to Ice-type, which is especially useful against Rillaboom. While there's Zygarde-10%, I won't worry about it besides the fact it might use Dazzle since its lackluster bulk made it easy to be revenge-killed and it's very difficult to set Dragon Dance up.

also urshifu rapid strike is legit busted so expect that to be gone soon
