Sticky Orange Islands SQSA Thread

Related to the above, the Dex completions in Home are very annoying because of Gift Pokémon that evolve but do not breed - Silvally (In Galar) for example. I'm sure there is another but I've forgotten what it is. EDIT: Kubfu (this one is even more egregious as it's DLC only)

Just to check, there is no way to get these mons "back" in to Home after you've evolved them right? You have to play through the entire game again to get another gift to transfer that one onwards to get the Dex completion?

Does anyone know where I might find a dump of Pokewalker encounter rates if one exists? Serebii has a listing but when I added up the chances for items in one area it added to 101 lol so it's not 100% accurate and tbh I don't trust Serebii much, but if they have an existing dump as a basis for this id like to find it

If you level up both Remoraid and Mantyke from the same battle and allow Remoraid to evolve due to that, will Mantyke still attempt to evolve?
Pulled out my copy of sword and the answer is surprisingly no. I put Remoraid above Mantyke in my part and had both level up through a battle: Remoraid evolved, then Mantyke didn't

So if Remoraid & Mantyke are in the same party and both are close to level up, make sure Mantyke is above Remoraid. It will get evolution priority.

Interesting as well that that's the latest game Mantyke is in, so it's not like a quirk they fixed later. Thank you!

In Pokemon Home, I keep getting traded Pokemon with origin marks which do not match their actual origin - like just now I traded for an Seadra with a Scarlet origin mark, only to look at its status screen and find that it actually originated in Galar. Similarly, I'm trying to trade for an Omanyte originating in LGPE but people keep trading me Omanyte from Pokemon Go.

Is this a glitch or does the origin symbol actually just indicate the last game a Pokemon has been in?

Quick question: when you were trading for that Seadra, did you see the "Violet" icon on GTS and then see the actual Galar Origin Mark on its profile? Or do you mean it is a Seadra with the Paldea Origin mark but has a met location in Galar?

For the former the icons you see are the last game it touched and are unrelated to the Origin; you'll only see the Bank and Go icons if they never touched another game. For the latter yeah that's a hack.

The former: on the GTS it displays a Scarlet icon but then says "met in Galar".

That's disappointing (and annoyingly counterproductive given the way the origin challenge works)

Exploring the Area Zero Underdepths after clearing the DLC. In the third room down from the professor's lab, atop the tall crystal on the right, there is a room sectioned off by a pile of crystal. Behind the crystal, I can see several items, including a TM. There does not appear to be another path into this room from anywhere else, leading me to surmise that this room opens when a Stellar Pokémon is defeated. Since I have finished the DLC, however, there are no more Stellar Pokémon in the Underdepths for me to encounter. Am I blocked off from obtaining these items that I can clearly see, either from doing something incorrectly earlier or due to Game Freak's incompetent coding?

You mean this:

Is there a list of every Pokémon that got its idle animations changed in SV? Like Charizard now standing on the ground and Kyurem-Black now floating and etc. If there's comparisons to their previous animations somewhere that would be even better!

Technically neither of those are changes, Kyurem and Charizard can stand or float/fly depending on the situation, same for all the other fliers.

Charziard's model itself is updated and I believe the animations it had before while standing are different since it's in battle rather than the various amie-alikes

Anyway for as much as the fandom loves to compile things and complain about things, I dont' think there's ever been a complete archive of easily viewable animations over the years nor a listing of everything that's been new/changed game to game.

What happens if you lose against the battle against Brendan/May in ORAS' credits? Also, can you reset the game to skip the credits and start the postgame after recording your team at the league and saving as you can in most other games?

What happens if you lose against the battle against Brendan/May in ORAS' credits?

The only thing I could find is one Reddit post where someone said they lost to May and all she says is "Does this mean I'm the Pokemon League Champion now? Haha, just kidding!" and the credits roll.

Now I'm not doubting them, though I do feel they may have excluded some dialogue. Reminder how the final battles goes after defeating May (it's not the usual "end battle" cut, it's an entire cutscene):
(After winning the battle goes into cutscene where May has her back turned to the player. After a few moments, she turns around and smiles)

... Thanks, <player>!
You really are a Champion!

(Cut to player and May walking down path, May looking up into sky)

Meeting so many different people...
And encountering so many Pokémon...
It's just really...
It's been really, really fun!

(May stops and points up to sky)

Ah! <player>! Look at that!

(Camera pans up to show meteor shower (and final parts of the credits))

If I had to guess, they replace the first part (Thanks, <player>! You really are a Champion!) with the joke she's now Champion, but then cuts to the same scene of her reminiscing about her journey (hence maybe why it felt like a sudden cut).

In the end, all it means is you just lost against your Rival (there's no money award or even Experience to gain eitherway). BTW, the writers wrote Brendan's lines to be slightly different, so he may say something different or at least joke he's the new Champion in a different way.

It doesn't seem like there's any special dialog.
Bulbapedia doesn't list anything under their quote section other than this as "After the battle"
"... Thanks, <player>! You really are a Champion! Meeting so many different people... And encountering so many Pokémon... It's just really... It's been really, really fun! Ah! <player>! Look at that!"
Checking poke-corpus seems to confirm that as well https://abcboy101.github.io/poke-corpus/#file=oras.script.269

AZ works the same way.

So with the Wild Area event in Pokemon Go this week I've seen it mentioned a few times that Dialga and Palkia are the only species capable of being in every possible Pokeball, since they can be captured with the new Go Safari Ball.

This has caused me to wonder the inverse: which Pokemon is available in the fewest types of Pokeballs? Almost certainly a mythical, since there's a few which have only been distributed (in Cherish Balls) and never catchable by any other means. By my reckoning, that's just...
  • Volcanion
  • Magearna
  • Zeraora
Do I have that correct?

Yep.

Another ball-related question: in one of the games there's an NPC who will examine one of your team members and give a bit of flavour text about the ball they're in ("ah, the Cherish Ball? That's an awfully rare type of ball, you certainly don't see that one very often", etc)

Trouble is, I can't recall which game this NPC is in. Google has given me nothing. XY? SM? USUM? SwSh? Pretty sure it's one of those. Anyone recall this person?

Had to search through poke-corpus for this, but it looks like it's in USUM https://abcboy101.github.io/poke-corpus/#file=usum.script.613
