Sticky Orange Islands SQSA Thread

Gary before hair dye
Maybe Trace? View attachment 854300
Trace got his hair style in the DLC, this one was base game.

While taking another look at all the hair styles I think it is meant to be Red's (the tufts match), but the bangs are Ditto's? Leaf's hair also has the same bangs despite her design not having them. All of Ditto's "base" designs have the bangs. Guess Red & Leaf get "OG" privileges? None of the other reference hair cuts do, so it threw me off.

If an opponent Pokemon knows Fake Out as well as another offensive move that will KO the player, are they still guaranteed to use Fake Out on the first turn or will they ever skip it and go straight for the kill? (obviously asking about high-level/"expert" AI here)

From what quick research I was able to do via a Google search, the AI will always go for a KO first and foremost.

I imagine the string of logic goes like this if the AI has Fake Out:

1a. Checks if any Move it has is SE against opponent.
1b. If so, will it KO? If yes, selects it.
2. Checks if first Move will KO opponent. If no, moves onto next move.
3. Checks second Move.
4. Checks third Move.
5. If no other move will KO opponent will select Knock Out first turn. Regardless of effectiveness.

BTW, the AI seems to be prohibited to check to see if the opponent has a Flinch blocking Ability.

Which Hidden Power is arguably more useful on Zapdos for the battle facilities in past gens - Ice or Grass?

What about on Raikou?

Ice+Electric gives better coverage than Electric+Grass (which forces an inferior Special Attack IV) and covers most of the Ground- and Rock-types Electrics struggle with. Grass's major use is that it hits Swampert and co, which otherwise Zapdos and Raikou can't really deal with, but that depends on the rest of your team.

hello i've been recently playing base sun on my 2ds, it keeps lagging then crashing when I fight the kahunas, can anyone help me?

Here are two threads that, at the very least, may explain what's going on:
* Reddit "Error question? DS keeps crashing opening Pokemon Sun"
* GitHub "Pokemon Sun Random Crashing"

Some other suggestions off the top of my head (and may not be helpful):
* Check to see if 2DS has all its updates.
* Check memory, if significantly filled see if there's anything you can delete to free up some memory.

Finally, if its just the hardware is failing, you may have to nurse it along:
1. Save before every major battle (AND make sure the save is good).
2. If you've been playing for a while and the game crashes, let the game rest for a bit before trying again.

it might also be the fact I have cfw ✌

I have a question regarding the item duplication glitch in FRLG that uses mail.

Once the setup is done, does it persist even after the game has been closed? Or do you have to do the setup again after a restart if you want to continue duplicating items.

Bulbapedia translates Mind Reader's japanese name as Mind's Eye, which is also how they translate Ursaluna's Mind's Eye. However, their actual japanese names are completely different, with the move being こころのめ and the ability being しんがん. Does anyone know what the semantic differences between them are?

Putting both into Google Translate spits both of them back as Mind's Eye, but breaking up the names into their component parts seems to indicate the move's name is closer to Heart's Eye, which makes sense, but then the ability comes back as something like True Cancer, so either there are some subtleties that blind translations aren't picking up on or Bloodmoon Ursaluna is a walking tumor.

The Chinese kanji for Mind's Eye is 心眼 (which is also shingan in Japanese).

心: heart/mind
眼: eye

Mind Reader (kokoro no me) could potentially be read as 心の目 or 心の眼 (Chinese goes with the latter having the same kanji).

心 can be read as kokoro or shin when combined with another word.
目 is also eye.

I think they are supposed to be interchangeable but you could probably find some more specific differences if you really read into it.

Wiktionary calls 目 eye and 眼 eyeball but also denotes them as alternate spellings of "me", so Mind Reader could be either.

(眼 contains 目 on its left side, and could also be read as either がん or め.)
