Pokémon Black/White in-game discussion

The Lillipup line is surprisingly solid for any thing you'd do in this game, not to mention they're all so cute! Definitely my favorite early game normals.

By the way, I HATE Watchog. It has ALWAYS used Confuse Ray followed by Hypnosis or vice versa! AND to make it worse....it has this conceited look on its face while ur totally incapacitated and its arms are crossed and it just looks snobby in general which makes me so....soo........GGGGAAAAAH!
From what I've seen so far, Watchog is good in the early game, thanks to learning Crunch early, and getting Low Kick, but it starts to lose its value later on because of its so-so stats.

holy fuck I missed like 6 pages

Anyway, tested out Vanillite and Ducklett. The former is really.... meh; it's powerful but its coverage suuuuuuucks. For god's sake, it gets only two attacking types in general... ice and steel. Add normal and hidden power (which is lol ingame) by tms, and you've got its movepool. Whoever was the asshole who said, "hey you guys let's not give this awesome-looking pokemon any decent moves" can die in hell.

/rant

Ducklett is really nice though. Roost by level, Air Slash by level, Water Pulse at start, Featherdance at start... It's really nice and nearly sweeps clay (FUCK YOU EXCADRILL ROCK SLIDE). Flying typing is a boon.

When do you get Ducklett? I'm thinking of using him as my last member of my team

AHH I want Joltik and Ducklett... :/

You know, I'll be completely honest with you...SO FAR (Just beat the Flying Gym), N doesn't seem THAT bad...I mean, yeah he seems like one of those over-the-top Peta members (No offense to such people, I just mean the ones that dress up as whales and lay in the road...But I don't want to get in trouble here, so anyway), but he seems like a nice enough guy (Once again "So far").

EDIT: In other words, it's like he's nice but he's really pushing it :\

Ducklett can be obtained in the Driftveil Drawbridge (just look for a shadow as you walk on it. Walk up to the shadow and it should appear. I think).

It appears on occasion also; essentially it's like drillbur in caves - sometimes you get items instead of pokemon.

I just made it into the Elite 4

Team:

Emboar lvl 46
Conkeldurr lvl 45
Seismitoad lvl 45
Stoutland lvl 45
Swoobat lvl 45

Turns out he's been brainwashed by Ghetsis his whole life. Good intentions, but misinformed.

I also noticed that they really toned down the villain's goals from Gen IV. Went from destroying the world and remaking it in his own image completely devoid of emotion to just forcibly separating humans and Pokémon.

god damn spoilers.. i looked not even thinking how big of a spoiler it could be.

and i agree with you about the toned down goals. when they first talked about their plans.. i was thinking.. wait.. thats it?

At first I agreed with them, then I was all "This is going a BIT too far, now isn't it?", or maybe more like "You guys are going about this ALL WRONG! D:"

One neat feature that I like is critical catches when you throw Poke Balls. When it happens, it's a guaranteed catch.

This is awesome. I beat the eighth gym, activate the Tornadus event and go to Route 10...to see torrential rainfall. Master Ball go! I just have Terakion to go to complete my legendary collection (and Reshiram but w/e).

Team (all level 46)

Sawsbuck - Horn Leech, Jump Kick, Nature Power, Work Up
Has been very good for me so far. As long as it stays a few levels ahead it hits hard enough to KO things. Can also usually take at least one hit if necessary.

Darmanitan - Fire Punch, Thrash, Rock Slide, Flare Blitz
So much overkill. Seriously even as a Darumaka this thing raped shit (Eviolite go!). Decently fast, Obscenely powerful only issue is its frailty.

Galvantula - Thunder, Thunderbolt, Bug Buzz, Charge Bea.
Amazing. Joltik holds its own until it evolves espescially with the sixth gym and after evo it is amazing. If you get an opening to Charge Beam its game over for your opp.

Archeops - Acrobatics, Fly, U-Turn, Crunch
More awesomeness. It would literlayy OHKO everything that didn`t resist Acrobbatics from the moment I got it. It only hates very bulky Druddigons but screw them.

Samurott - Waterfall, Surf, Slash, X-Scissor (Careful :( )
Very well- rounded. It serves mostly as the defensive pivot as my team is very frail in general and its damage output is very nice.

Last spot open for Reshiram. Formerly Stoutland, It was great as a Lillipup, good as a Herdier but couldn`t keep up as a Stoutland. Too bad because it was really awesome.

Any outstanding weaknesses or members I should add/replace (Cobalion, Virizion and Tornadus are available)?

So I just beat the Flying Gym, and I'm at the Poke Center.. and at this point.. I really need to get a team idea together, and focus on my mission at hand. I've shuffled through a bunch, but I never found any fluidity with the Pokemon, and I just kept tossing them aside as I went along.. waiting to see the cool Pokemon later down the road. Waiting and waiting.

Yep.. you're looking at them.. that's it. I've had others on my team.. but they just.. didn't do much for me.. or I just didn't give them a chance and I boxed them as fast as I caught them.

Boxed pokemon that I have; any help would be much.. much appreciated. And no.. i don't know where i go next in the game, or what Pokemon await me.. so, there's that.

Your team seems fine for the elite 4. As for Reshiram, to avoid spoilers, when you capture him, the game will prompt you if you want to send him or another poke in your party to the PC.

@Phadunk: You're massively overlevelled for that point in the game. If you're so inclined, you can grab yourself a Larvesta on Route 18, which evolves into Volcarona. You'll seriously have to baby it, as it really sucks until level 59 when it evolves. Failing that, get an Archeops or something to round out the Grass weakness of sorts.

Nope. Criticals make the ball shake only once, but that's hardly a guaranteed catch. I can confirm this, as Kyuremu and all those legendaries usually troll my criticals.

So, looking at this thread, I feel as though my team is overleveled... which isn't really bad, but y'know.
I just beat the 7th gym, and this is my team:
Samurott lvl 45
Scolipede lvl 46
Krookodile lvl 46
Chandelure lvl 47
Galvantula lvl 46
Sigilyph lvl 46

What do you guys think? Also, any holes in this team?

Finally someone who matches my levels, lol. I can think of few specific pokemon that could hurt this team badly, provided they outrun you and arent ohko'd.
...you'll be okay, though.

What specific pokemon? I've yet to come across anything that I have trouble with at all. I was a little concerned with the new pure dragon types that'll be showing up soon, but then I realized Sigilyph can learn Ice Beam so i'm not too concerned with them.

A Soda Pop? Yeah, great. This is even more disappointing than the Casteliacone I got yesterday.

casteliacones are great. they only cost 100, take em to the trailer east of the electric gym to the woman who likes smelly foods (or something like that) and shell give you 2000 for it.

Chandelure's Shadow Ball can OHKO your own Chan and Sigi, and Fire Blast incinerates your bugs.
Hydreigon is ass with its massive coverage.
There's one more poke but i forget. D:

Just beat the Pokemon League! Wow it's the most exciting Pokemon experience till the end, it's a nice change from what we're used to.

For once HMs are not that essential to get pass to Victory Road.

I realized that Reuniclus can be darn frustrating since it's just too slow.

Surprisingly, I became attached to my Archeops, man this bird sure is epic! I love it love it love it, despite of its ability. But nevertheless he's darn powerful, just don't let his health down to 50%. Mienshao kicks ass too!

I got lucky that all of my party pokemon got beneficial natures.

Serperior (Jolly Nature) Like to trash about.
Reuniclus (Modest Nature) Somewhat vain.
Galvantula (Timid Nature) Alert to sounds.
Chandelure (Bold Nature) Highly persistent. (close enough)
Mienshao (Jolly Nature) Often dozes off.
Archeops (Jolly Nature) Like to trash about.

I also caught Zekrom the first time!

Will try Dreamworld next.
