Dear Arceus, yes. That'd be a perfect alternative. Which isn't too bad of an idea, either...3rd gen's beginning bug pokemon branched off into two different ones, it would be great if Kurumeal had an evolution which turned into the classic Bug/Flying, and another which lets it keep its type.
 
I'm gong to go the cruel route and pick Mijumaru, then release at the first chance I get (The fun thing is, Belle gets the fat Pokabu, like herself, and Cheren gets the intelligent Tsutaja, which he seems to be. Everyone wins! ...?)

And can someone tell me once when a rumor on PokeJungle even came true? I almost feel a bit annoyed when someone posts rumors from there, just for them to be filled with lies.

Well, he supposedly would've. Rumor is that Torkoal, Spheal, and Tropius were originally planned to be the 3rd gen starters.

Which totally makes sense. We're missing a fire turtle starter (and a grass bird starter).

I'm pretty sure i'm going with the Wotter. Especially if he gets Water/Fighting.

So far I've been Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Torchic, and Chimchar. So I'm do a water starter, and neither of the other two are particularly drawing my attention. I'm worried Smugleaf is going to be a Treecko clone (though if he does get a solid duo type, I'd be tempted - especially Electric), and Porkabu, while adorable, looks like he's heading towards the useless defensive-fire route.

I only know I'll start with Tsutarja. Everything else is up in air, as I'll almost surely Nuzlocke the shit out of this game the first time.


...Yeah, I'll be Nuzlocking a game I have never played before in a language I am no fluent yet meeting pokémon I've never seen in my entire life with no knowledge of their evolution methods and movepools and also with no idea of the Gym, Plasma and Rival rosters and levels.


It's going to be fun~~ If only I had any drawing skills, I'd draw a comic of it and post on the Nuzlocke forums.

It's not as if Pokejungle is posting it and trying to pass it off as true. There's no "lying" going on (except for the one who makes up the rumor I suppose), they're just posting food for thought. Who cares if it isn't true?

Also, Grass Mixer and Nitro Charge were confirmed as attacks along with the already known Shell Blade in one rumor. And this was way before we had even heard of Nitro Charge and a little before we were shown Grass Mixer.

It's probably just my weird thing against bad rumors that's bugging me, but I really dislike hearing, "Oh, x might happen, or even y", since I usually figure it's the equivalent of other sources' speculation, anyway. It's fine if it's true or wrong, but it's just weird discussing rumors that seem to be wrong nigh-on all the time. It's probably just me, of course, but still...

I can't believe I totally missed this. That is a pretty nonsensical theory. Or at least it would be if the Lati@s and Blaziken weren't the same Pokemon at some point, but that in and of itself pretty much proves Torchic, at the very least, was probably intended to be a starter for quite a while-- before they had even come up with all of the Gen III Pokemon.

@Ming-Ming: Discussing random rumors is generally more appealing, at least IMO, than discussing confirmed info in circles. But I guess I see where you're coming from.
 
I want to like Tsutaja, but if it evolves at all like that beta art that revealed Kibago. . . then I'll probably go with Pokabu, who will hopely evolve into a Fire/Ground, and be the only bipedal fully-evolved starter. (Swampert --> Torterra --> Thirdabu)
 
I've always picked the fire starter for some reason. I'll probably pick the grass one, regret it, and then restart and pick Pokabu. Same thing happened when I picked Treeko.
 
I'm not sure why the Fire starters are ALWAYS the most popular of the three in all the generations.

I think this might be the first generation where that isn't the case.
 
I like the fire starter the best :| I just don't like how the grass starter looks, and the water one is a sad otter clown >_> Or maybe I just like fire type pokemon better... Besides, people will look at the final evolutions and choose based on that.

Because of the scarcity of fire types ingame

every third game rectifies this but gamefreak always seems to step on the same rake with fire types

It's like

You can have the awesome, powerful infernape

or

you can have the slower, weaker, althogether crappier Rapidash

How will you not know the Pokemon's info when you've seen this spoiler thread? Or are you not planning on following them anymore?

Also, Breludicolo's right. The strong fire types in any gen always consist of the starter and a sprinkling of legends. Anything else just seems worthless in comparison. Now if they started giving fire pokes unique typings. . . and SR ones at that, we could have some diversity.
 
Hey hey, Rapidash is a really cool Pokemon, haha. I guess it would be harder designing Fire-types in general. I mean, you can only have flames coming out of so many different areas..
 
I think the only other non-starter cool fire type in RSE was...Numel.
Numel's a pretty cool Pokemon. Miles ahead of things like Magcargo & Torkoal.

Still ~a month before CoroCoro, who knows. Should be getting a new commercial or two, maybe they'll inadvertently show something new? Maybe Oha Shuta or Pokemon Sunday will show something off (probably a commercial).

Or, shoot, maybe the official site will be super nice and show off the demo Pokemon after that event ends.

Gotta believe and all that.

Yet they've avoided the design of a Pokemon blowing flames out of its ass. I'm serious. Poison/Fire Cow. I don't care how shitty its typing is, I want it.
