In RSE, most of the water pokemon you ran into were by fishing or during dive. This left Tentacool and Tentacruel as just about the only things you run into while surfing. You ran into them a lot..

However much I agree with your guess, Having Grass as the carry-over type would open up many new type combinations that have not been seen as of yet.

Personally, though, I think that it's just going to turn out like Shellos and only be for visual purposes.
I actually rather like the idea of the grass type being the one that carries over. However, if that were the case the ice version would be grass/ice which would completely suck and in my head I've already decided that the hypothetical ice version is my favorite. :)

Besides, Normal/Ice or Fire and whatnot would all be new types as well, so either way we'd be getting a sweet deal out of it. However, it would most likely be loosing out on STAB moves outside of the possible TMs it may get and Normal STAB if it would change its type. Sunny Day teams would appreciate the diversity, though.

And Wingulls
Which were basically Tentacools

Needless to say I'm not exactly crying over a lack of water routes

Oh, I understand the comment about the Tentacools now d:

I wonder what the annoying Pokemon of this gen will be.
I'm expecting Minezumi (the Bibarel) and maybe the flying Mankey will be the Zubat. Who knows ;O

Koromori (The bat. I'm not sure if I spelled it right.). If I remember correctly, the rumor about it is that it'd be a bulkier bat, likely know Supersonic/Confuse Ray as per required by all Bat Pokemon, and a signature move that allows Flinching.

.....Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and buy Repel in advance.

You know if they just add a bit more pokemon variations in the caves and seas, tentacool, zubat and geodude wouldn't be half as annoying.

They pop up for me everytime and after a while I completely ignore wild pokemon encounters by using repels.

And they need to lower the enounter rate. When I was in Coronet, I would be done finishing a wild pokemon and literally five steps later there is another one! It's nearly impossible to explore caves without repels anymore.

No...Zubat will always be with you.
And Wingulls were the Tentacools of RSE and the Zubats of the seas combined. Tentacool were annoying as they were even in GSC with the Poison Sting and miles away from land and such.

There is like, no evident sea route on the Isshu map... There is a beach leading to a couple islands on the bottom right corner. Otherwise, aside from surfing on some lakes... I seriously don't see any massive sea routes to trek!

It does look pretty healthy cave-wise though. >_>

Isshu looks massive. There seems to be A LOT of areas to explore. Just looking at the bottom left chunk of land, you can pick out ~9 unique areas. (Cave into forest, weird field with "bulleyes" marking, huge buildings, some city of some sort or a complex, cement stairs + another building, tiny village [I think this is the starting village], island chain, church... And then I'm assuming a a forest that leads to that huge bridge to the main piece of land). crazy.

I was particularly annoyed by how they gave many wild Pokemon Protect in RSE. Every time you battled a Pelliper or Lairon, you know that it will use at least 1-2 Protects.

Run? <_<

There's a picture of a new pokemon on serebii. Looks like a fish. Serebii says its probably fake though so I don't know. Looks legit to me.

Same here. I'd often try to save PP against Hariyama and Lairon by using weaker moves (assuming they'd Protect), but then they just Roared/Whirlwinded me away :(.

That thing is possibly the ugliest pokemon I have ever seen.. so in that regard I really do hope it is real. Need some balance to Emonga's cuteness.

EDIT: Me being dumb
It has the same eyes as the also not very pleasant looking smoking-fish.. so this guy could be our 2-stage fish. Other than the eyes they don't really look alike however... hmm.. kinda got the same protruding lip thing. Anyway, if they are real and IF they are related, I would hope they have a second type a la Sharpedo instead of being just a nuisance like Lumineon.

EDIT 2: lol it's a rock? Wow looked like a fish.. Disregard what I said then.

Apparently it could be related to Gigaisu according to Pokejungle... o_O

This image has now surfaced from the demo~ From anonymous comment on spmb.
We have what COULD BE (ie: this picture’s authenticity has not been confirmed) a new pokemon which appears to be related to Gigaiasu. Its name is ‘Wakoishi’. *If any of you are curious “koishi” means ‘pebble’ so that is probably what its derived from.
Check back for more updates as we try to figure out whether or not this is completely authentic. Thanks for the tip off in chat :]

Yeah there's quite a few ugly pokemon this gen. Like this one:

the new fish pokemon looks like it has a Pirate face lol!!!

Anyway pokejungle states that :

  • Mamambou – “Nursing Pokemon” Type: Water | Abilities: Hydration or Healing Heart [Plz note: it's not 'Greedy Heart']
  • Kurumiru – “Sewing Pokemon” Type: Bug/Grass | Abilities: Swarm or Chlorophyll | New Attack: “Bug Resistance” – Attack hits two pokemon
  • Moguryuu – “Mole Pokemon” Type: Ground | Abilities: Sand Artillery or Sand Power [New ability "Sand Artillery" will raise attack power during a sandstorm]
  • ——Since those were correct, the following information is also assumed to be correct——-
  • Miruhoggu – “Lookout Pokemon” Type: Normal | Abilities: Keen Eye or Illuminate
  • Swanna – “Swan Pokemon” Type: Water/Flying | Abilities: Keen Eye or Pidgeon Heart
  • Shikijika – “Seasonal Pokemon” Type: Normal/Grass | Abilities: Chlorophyll or Herbivore
If this is true then Mamanbou with Hydratation and a decent movepool/stats could become OU/BL in rain Dance teams.

Considering that it's normal/grass it will probably become normal/whatever if it evolves.

seeing as it changes colours with the seasons, like plants do, I doubt the Grass type will change.

it's not ugly at all, actually... like, at all.

the new rock thing is also fine. it's obviously a Gigaiasu prevo if it's real, in which case it looks pretty much exactly like it should.

GF has this thing about putting the primary type in front which is why I said that. I like the idea of grass/whatever I'm just following the pattern they've set.

Yeah if it was Grass/Normal then i would have no problem buying it....

Anyway the new caterpillar pokemon is Bug/grass (suckish typeing) but it does have Clorophyl and a new Bug atack that hits two targets.
It looks like Sunny Day teams are getting some love this generation.

OTOH, we've had Normal/Flying evolve to Dragon/Flying (Swablu->Altaria).
Maybe Normal coming first in any combo is the rule that trumps everything else.
So maybe Shiki's evos will be Fire/Grass, Ground/Grass, Ice/Grass, Water/Grass.

Anyway, Gigaiasu might really be the Graveler counterpart because the new Pokemon seems a lot like our next Geodudeand his prevo.
