Recovery moves currently work at full HP instead of saying they have failed. Normally this is not a problem because they heal 0%, but because they don't fail, Roost still removes the Flying type from Flying type Pokemon for that turn. Skarmory was at full health for this test.

Turn 2

The foe's Skarmory used Roost!
The foe's Skarmory regained health!
Rampardos used Earthquake!
It's super-effective! The foe's Skarmory lost 71% of its health!
Infiltrator should bypass Reflect/Light Screen/Safeguard/Mist, currently it does nothing.

Crobat has Infiltrator
Turn 1

Marty called Espeon back!
Marty sent out Crobat!
Espeon used Reflect!
Reflect raised Marty2's team defense!

Turn 2

The foe's Crobat used Astonish!
[DEBUG] Reflect weaken.
It's super-effective! Espeon lost 11% of its health!
Espeon used Safeguard!
Marty2's team became cloaked in a mystical veil!

Turn 3

Turn 4

The foe's Crobat used Screech!
Espeon's Defense sharply fell!
Espeon used Reflect!
You'll notice Screech actually did go through Mist, but that's because Mist is not implemented correctly.

Turn 1

Marty sent out Alakazam!
The foe's Espeon used Mist!

Turn 2

Alakazam used Scary Face!
The foe's Espeon's Speed sharply fell!

It then occurred to me that I should test Yawn on Safeguard too, and this is the result:

Turn 1

The foe's Espeon used Safeguard!
Marty2's team became cloaked in a mystical veil!

Turn 2

Crobat used Yawn!

The foe's Espeon used Safeguard!

Turn 3

Crobat used Astonish!
It's super-effective! The foe's Espeon lost 25% of its health!
The foe's Espeon used Safeguard!
[DEBUG] interrupting setstatus.
[DEBUG] set status [slp] interrupted.
Yawn normally fails if Safeguard is up, but here it gets through, and then the effect gets prevented. This could be slightly misleading since it could force switches if you don't know it works in this way.

LightningRod's check is happening before the immunity check, when it should be the other way around.

Turn 1

Marty called Rhydon back!
Marty sent out Alakazam!
The foe's Rhydon used Swords Dance!
The foe's Rhydon's Attack sharply rose!

Turn 2

Alakazam used ThunderPunch!
The foe's Rhydon's Lightningrod raised its Special Attack!

To add onto Kayle's post, how do/should abilities like Trace and Intimidate target opponents? I'm going to get a goddamn answer out of this one way or another.

Uh, I'm probably just out of the loop from not battling on PO for nearly a year, but I noticed a difference between PO's battle engine (at least as it was last time I battled) and PS!'s engine that I've been trying to ask various people about. I haven't gotten a straight answer on it.

This concerns "active" abilities like Intimidate, Download and Trace.

State 1:
P1: Mickey
P2: Minnie (is faster)

Both opponents switch:
P1: Donald
P2: Goofy (has Intimidate)

Is Mickey Intimidated or is Donald? Last time I battled on PO, Mickey was affected, but on PS! (at least as far as I've seen), the abilities activate after BOTH switches, and Donald is affected regardless of switching order. I ask this because I'm aware that people have gotten it wrong before (an Advance analysis of Kyogre says that in a double switch with weathers, the weather goes to whoever clicked the button last) and I'd just like to see this answered so that I could, for example, fix the OU Porygon2 analysis on this topic if PS! happens to have the correct mechanics on this.
I mean, why does this continue to be ignored (not directed at any specific individual)? Is it somehow not clear enough?

Did some testing with Magic Bounce and various immunities; Magic Bounce is allowing a bounced Thunder Wave to get through Motor Drive and Volt Absorb. Also, Soak should be bounced back by Magic Bounce. If any non-Fire type got Flash Fire, I assume it would let Will-o-Wisp through as well. I'll do some more testing to confirm other situations.

I personally am not sure, but I believe PO's implementation is correct.

So, more testing with Magic Bounce. Flash Fire should activate on a bounced Will-o-Wisp; both Flareon and Jolteon have Flash Fire for this test. Magic Bounce is also allowing Grass status moves to go through Sap Sipper; the only Grass move that doesn't activate Sap Sipper is Aromatherapy. Worry Seed should also be getting bounced back by Magic Bounce (and activate Sap Sipper); here, it manages to change Espeon's ability to Insomnia.

The Item Shell Bell is probably bugged, here's what happened:

Ninetales 18% hp vs +1Dragon Danced Salamence at 3% hp holding Shell Bell, Salamence Used earthquake, gets a crit, and heals himself up to 41% hp. Seems like the heal is calculated for the damage it Wouldve dealt if i had as much hp as his earthquake did damage and not for how much hp the eq actualy dealt to my pokemon (since I had 14% he shouldve only healed for 1/8 of that)

the inactive kick timer should not go back to 180 once the other player has moved.... at this very moment a player is abusing it because i refuse to send him a copy of my team (yes i know...... noobs these days)

Heatproof should halve burn damage.

Should Knock Off manage to OHKO, Focus Sash should activate before being knocked off.

The foe's Tangrowth used Knock Off!
Knocked off Focus Sash. (placeholder)
It's super-effective! Abra lost 100% of its health!

A Pokemon with Flash Fire using Overheat doesn't lower his Special Attack, heck it also gives them the Flash Fire Boost.

Turn 1

after blissey passes a sub, its sprite shows up where the sub's should:

Turn 8

The foe's Politoed used Scald!

[DEBUG] LO boost.

It's super-effective! Hippowdon lost 73% of its health!

Hippowdon was burned!

The foe's Politoed is hurt by its life orb!

The foe's Politoed fainted!

Hippowdon used Curse!

But there was no target...

The sandstorm rages!

[DEBUG] natural immunity.

[DEBUG] weather immunity.

Hippowdon restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

Hippowdon is hurt by its burn!

Pakhawaj sent out Feraligatr!
Basically, the battlefield was my Hippowdon (90%) vs his Politoed (5% or something), during a sandstorm. I knew he was going to use Scald and die for the Life Orb recoil, so i used Curse to get some boosts, but it failed because of no targets, as if i was a Ghost-type, is it a bug or maybe the Ghost - nonGhost difference isn't implemented yet?

Just to confirm the above bug with Curse - I tested it in-game with a Slowbro on a trainer with more than one Pokemon. I stalled with Slack Off and Curse while the Skorupi slowly killed itself with Rocky Helmet damage. On the turn it fainted, I used Curse and it gave the boost despite there being no target. Both Smogon and Bulbapedia are wrong about this situation.

Also, unrelated, Solar Power is currently target.hp/8 instead of target.maxhp/8, which is causing the bug from page 19.

It may be that curse changed to working that way in gen v, and no one tested it

Going back to Trace, Aquaaa helped me out in testing the abilities on Wi-Fi, and it turns out Veekun's list that I linked in my other post is right, with the exception of Wonder Guard - Wonder Guard can still be Traced in Gen 5. It's odd because Veekun's Wonder Guard page says Trace can copy Wonder Guard.

The other part still stands though - Trace will activate as soon as it sees an ability it can copy, no matter how long the user stays on the field or how many untraceable abilities it sees before then.

Turn 1 - Trace doesn't copy Multitype - true

Marty2 called Gardevoir back!
Marty2 sent out Shedinja!
Marty called Arceus back!
Marty sent out Porygon2! <-----For some reason, Trace fails to copy Wonder Guard: see bottom of post

Turn 2 - Trace copies Flower Gift - false

Marty called Porygon2 back!
Marty sent out Cherrim!
Marty2 called Shedinja back!
Marty2 sent out Gardevoir!
The foe's Gardevoir traced Cherrim's Flower Gift!

Turn 3 - Trace copies Imposter - false

Marty called Cherrim back!
Marty sent out Porygon2!
Marty2 called Gardevoir back!
Marty2 sent out Ditto!
Porygon2 transformed into Ditto!
Porygon2 traced the foe's Ditto's Imposter!

Turn 4 - Trace copies Forecast - false

Marty2 called Ditto back!
Marty2 sent out Gardevoir!
Marty called Porygon2 back!
Marty sent out Castform!
The foe's Gardevoir traced Castform's Forecast!

Turn 6 - Trace copies Zen Mode - false

Marty called Porygon2 back!
Marty sent out Darmanitan!
Marty2 called Ditto back!
Marty2 sent out Gardevoir!
The foe's Gardevoir traced Darmanitan's Zen Mode!

Testing Wonder Guard again:

Turn 1 - Now it works - something to do with double switching?

Marty2 called Arceus back!
Marty2 sent out Porygon2!
Porygon2 traced the foe's Shedinja's Wonder Guard!
The foe's Shedinja used Sleep Talk!
But it failed!
tl;dr version:
Is it Traceable?
Flower Gift - no
Forecast - no
Illusion - no
Imposter - no
Multitype - no
Trace - no
Wonder Guard - yes
Zen Mode - no

While I do not have a log, moves with a secondary effect that affects the opponent do not activate on Sturdy Shedinja.

EDIT: also, Balloon does not break on it either when hit by an attack. I have no idea if this is standard behavior or not (the balloon part)

Mountaineer only has an effect on the turn you switch in (turn 9). You got hit by SE on turn 10.

I was KO'd but I was NOT attacked. my item was focus sash.

http://imgur.com/fYi0n

see turn 13 in image. Her toxic missed, i still had 100% health. then BOOM. KO
Dude, I already told you in chat. Focus Sash only protects you from attack damage, it doesn't protect you from Hail damage.
