Think of the children. I certainly hope not. Also don't think that they would make a Psychic or Dark typed starter, but I thought that with Steel too and look what happened.

Not sure what to think of the new legends... Probably Grass/Normal for X and Dark/Flying for Y, but not confident with those at all.

Psychic/Fighting/Dark doesn't work the same way Fire/Grass/Water does due to the immunity Dark has to Psychic.

Rock/Flying/Fighting works, but I don't think the Grass starter is gonna be rock-type.
 
z.z another game. I'm going to ignore the fact that there are a bajillion new pokemon and just play the game because it looks amazing graphically.
 
Gonna guess that Froakie's name is "Froggie" + "Soak"
So excited to see the evolutions, hope they aren't a letdown like Gen V's.

Psychic/Dark/Fighting is the only trio that hits Fire/Water/Grass neutrally. Grass/Rock, for example, would make the Grass starter lose its Water resistance and its Fire weakness. But anyway, you don't have to have the secondary types make a trio to have a double trio. Grass/Ground, Fire/Electric, and Water/Ice accomplishes this, for example.

Anyway, as far as the starters go, I'll be happy if all three have dual-types and the Fire one's not Fire/Fighting.
 
Notice how secondary types of starters have always been of the "physical" category (Poison, Ground, Fighting, Steel).

If GameFreak follows the tradition, Grass/Dark and Fire/Psychic seem unlikely... Although I would love to see that.

But if they do, maybe Grass/Fighting, Water/Flying and Fire/Rock is possible.
 
I think its a little presumptuous to think about their secondary types at this point in time. I mean look at this guy:

This looks different enough from the last couple of games to spark my interest in playing pokemon again. And buy a 3DS.
 
The starters look amazing. Even when you add the meh grass one these starters are top three in terms of attractiveness. The frog one is a dream come true. I love frogs and will finally be able to use a starter other than the Fire type. The fox is also really cool, but Vulpix is perfect already.
